I saw an interview with Em where he was talking about rhymes and how he likes to make things complex by working out internal rhymes and so on. It’s the only subject where his face lights up when he’s talking. Anyway, he said that when he hears his early albums it bothers him that he is behind the beat and is always chasing the beat. Now, he works out his track so that his rhymes hit perfectly with the drum down beat. He said that he isn’t happy unless his main rhyme scheme and the various internal schemes hit on the beat and that if they are isolated to the specific note sounds that they would form their own beat. Anyway, that’s all I’ve seen about how he feels about the older albums.
