Technically there's one part where you fight alongisde Rodin in Bayo2. It's only about a minute or two long, but in that short time he's casually one-shotting everything that comes his way. And the only reason he does it is because he just so happened to be hunting down a demon to turn into a weapon for you.
@@maidenreligion12 Well that’s the only exception, but Rodin isn’t a true companion in the Bayonetta games. My definition of a video game companion is a character that is with the player throughout the WHOLE game. Take Navi from The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, Midna from The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess and Fi from The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword. They are the companions of the Hero of Time, the Hero of Twilight and the Hero of the Sky, respectively, throughout Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword and only leave at the end of those games.

I thought I had missed some companion side quests or some dialog option with Fawks at the end of Fallout 3. Oh yeah, Link's Awakening also had an overpowered Shopkeeper. If you steal from him, upon revisiting the shop, he zaps you to death, does not matter how many hearts you got. And the punishment for theft is even beyond that death. After stealing from the shopkeeper, instead of the name you chose at the beginning of the game, everyone will refer to you as "THIEF"
If we're talking about overpowered characters, what about the Shopkeeper from One Step From Eden? She's so overpowered that she's fatal even to herself, as seen by the exploit to defeat her by inflicting Link onto her so the damage she deals to the things she uses to try to trap you to one tile, is linked to her own HP. It's so powerful an attack that the damage being linked to her one shots herself if she is Linked before she deals damage to her own summoned objects in an attempt to kill you. And before anyone argues that she's also a playable character, you have to keep in mind, you need to defeat her before she becomes a playable character for you, who's much weaker than the boss fight version. To even have the Shopkeeper fight you, you need to provoke her, be it annoying her by opening and closing the shop menu frequently enough on one shop visit, or deal enough damage to her that she sees you as a threat, rather than a customer. btw, what's the deal with shopkeepers being overpowered to fight against in games? Pokemon Mystery Dungeon does that, Bayonetta does it, And I think also Crypt of the Necrodancer, as hitting the shopkeeper in that game I believe has him attack back at you
Any character in Dragon quest builders 2 especially Malroth. Basically the main character plays the support role building defenses and rescuing KOed npcs but is terrible at fighting themselves.
