What's really sad is the younger generations who never knew the man's gifted talent. Watched him on Hew Haw, along with Buck Owens, every Sunday night when I was growing up...
@@unclegare9778 Don't sweat it. Every generation has great talents that eventually pass away that the younger generation will never know about (unless they watch these TH-cam videos!) Let's just hope that the younger generations continue to produce talented people, and not just let themselves rot from the inside out.
Roy Clark was many things, but never underrated. He was everywhere in the '60s and '70s and had his own 1,500 seat theater in Branson Missouri during the '80s.
Man, have you ever heard him play classical music? Actually, every style of music he can play. But I saw him playing a really complicated classical guitar piece like it wasn't anything.
This guy was one of the most talented musicians ever. I don’t think he ever did get half of the credit he deserves. Buck Owens was great also, but Roy Clark was head and shoulders above most performers of his time.
And the other thing is he obviously had a great sense of humor. Ironically, I really never knew how funny he really was until I saw him outside of Hee Haw.
@frndofbear Glenn Campbell, Jerry Reed, Johnny Cash, Buck Owens, Willie Nelson.........I relate to these guys but then I love lots a different kinds a music.
When he was in his early teens, Roy Clark, along with his dad, used to attend the almost weekly Saturday night parties at my grandparent's home in Oxon Hill, Maryland (his dad and my grandfather worked together at the Washington Navy Yard). There was always lots of good food (prepared by my grandmother) and country music, and by all accounts, Roy was a somewhat shy but very talented musician even then.
@@joshuawrightproductionsI remember him playing the most beautiful classical guitar piece when I was lucky to see him at his Theater in Branson Missouri.
No matter how many times I watch Roy play this it’s almost like watching it for the first time. He’s a class act! It’s one thing to be a master on guitar but then his timing, humor, stage presence and singing makes for a complete package!!!
I "had" to watch hee haw when I was young with my parents. I look back at those times and thank God I had them with my parents and people like Roy Clark
I grew up watching him on "Hee-Haw". He was one of the best guitarists in the world and pretty amazing on the banjo and fiddle too. So much talent. Rest in peace, Roy. Cheers from America.
Roy Clark was an amazingly talented man. I miss all the greates that have passed on. The new generation of entertainers can't hold a candle to them. R.I.P Roy and thank you.
Most admirable multi talented Musician and Gentlemen who impressed me in so many ways while catching his show in Branson Missouri. He played many instruments, all forms of music and exuded love, joy and togetherness. May he RIP and his life and memory be a continued blessing to all. 💜
I remember watching hee-haw as a kid. I'm not a country music fan, per se, but i always loved Roy Clark! Played with such ease. He was always having fun performing, and it was infectious!❤
Always enjoyed Roy's performances. He always made them uniquely his. He always had a great sense of humor and made playing any stringed instrument look easy.
Roy clark ,an instrumental virtuoso, hidden behind his humor and the niche of C&W music of the early days of TV. He was funny and had the musical chops to back it up.
Roy was know for his clowning around and fantastic guitar picking, but when Roy got serious he could also sing: listen to ‘Yesterday When I Was Young’!
I learned to play the guitar because of him, when I was 11 or 12 he came out with a book you could put stickers on the frets and learn chords, I’m 61 and still love playing my guitar
This guy was as great a musician as any of the classical or rock fellas, and I have always given him big respect..... He was a hoot and will always be missed.
One of the best guitarists in all time! I always admired Roy Clark. When learning to to play guitar I would watch him for hours trying to figure how how he played.
Ol' Roy, he could show you a thing or two. Perhaps one of the most underrated Guitarists there ever was. A really nice guy too. I was lucky to meet him back stage once.
It’s sweet to see he was on Jimmy Dean’s show since, years before, Dean fired him! Clark constantly showed up late for band practice, and Dean felt that no matter how great a talent, Clark should not think he could waste the other band members’ time by being late.
And the nicest man I’ve ever met. I was front desk clerk at hotel he and the boys stayed at for the Missouri State Fair. Charming, kind, talented, and funny. 💖💐🙏
He was amazing !!! So skilled. I watched him furiously play a very difficult piece on a 12 string acoustic guitar. Strings were breaking but it never sounded like he missed a note!!! He was funny too❤ I MISS HIM AND HIS MUSIC
I actually laughed out loud. I remember seeing this when I was a kid. It's funnier to me now, for some reason, than it was back then. I loved Mr. Roy Clark. Thanks.😊
There are so many musicians I remember growing up in the 1960's and 70's I took for granted perhaps because I was just a kid and thats what kids do. But when I look at these old video clips I now realize how exceptionally talented they were.
One of the greatest ever to play any stringed instrument. As amazing he is on the guitar I think his fiddle playing might have been even better. Virtuoso with whatever he held
I'm really not into country music. But as far as the guitarist is concerned Roy Clark is a true master of the guitar and one of the best guitarists . I'm not a fan of country music but I do have my favorites I will go to a Willie Nelson concert just to hear on the road again. Roy Clark has always been one of my favorites along with Willie Nelson. R.I.P Roy .
I'm old enough to have watched him when he was at the height of his fame. If he was at his prime right now, he would be one of the biggest stars on the planet. He was an amazingly talented man, and it's a shame that more people don't know it. RIP Roy. 😢
They called him “Superpicker” for good reason. His comedic approach of the shy, nervous character in those days took a ton of guts to pull off on TV as he must’ve known some people wouldn’t even realize that it was a shtick. Seeing it now it was really hilarious and ahead of its time. That audience was way too subdued given what he was doing. Great stuff.
One of the best. Today's guitar players just play guitar. Roy Clark played and entertained. Can't find talent like that now.
Roy Clark, one of the most talent musicians ever... That dude could play stringed instruments like they were part of his body...
What you talkin' 'bout!!!... that ol' boy could tune & play a pot of cooked spaghetti.
What's really sad is the younger generations who never knew the man's gifted talent. Watched him on Hew Haw, along with Buck Owens, every Sunday night when I was growing up...
Saw him live in 1980, and he played over 20 different instruments in that show. Fantastic.

Could not agree with you more!
The single most underrated guitar player in history. Possibly the best ever. And I'm not even a big fan. But greatness cannot be denied.
You dam skippy
Roy Clark was many things, but never underrated. He was everywhere in the '60s and '70s and had his own 1,500 seat theater in Branson Missouri during the '80s.
Incredible talent that he made to appear effortless like a kid being naughty. It reminds me of Dean Martin.

Jerry Reeves was a great contemporary. Both were truly gifted, comical and highly underrated.
A CLASSIC!!!!
Glen Campbell is great too.

Stomping your foot out of time while playing in time is very hard to do. Roy was a string master.

A master musical showman. 🎼
I never knew how cool Roy Clark was
Pre-Hendrix guitar antics in country music style!! I love it.😂
Such talent! Never really realized.
I've watched him all my life since the live days of Louisiana Hayride, and never saw this.
Wow.
He's done a lot of great stuff.
Talented doesn't begin to describe him.
Here in Tulsa, we were fortunate to have Roy around town for many years. Roy was a class act in real life....not just in front of the cameras.
Stevie Ray and Roy Clark -- the double Greatest of All Time.
Roy Clark was never given enough credit and praise for his guitar playing. He was one of the top guitarist in America.
I grew up watching him on "Hee-Haw". He was one of the best guitarists in the world and pretty amazing on the banjo and fiddle too. So much talent. Rest in peace, Roy. Cheers from America.
Good thing someone had a cell phone to record it. ;-)
Never seen this before and it was funny. He was really young. That guy was one legit musician!

Love to watch him play guitar. He was a solid entertainer. So gifted.
Can't say for sure but I bet Cash laughed the hardest of anyone
Most likely. Cash does a sharp impression of Elvis in a TH-cam video.
The incomparable Roy Clark. Love him!
Such a wonderful entertainer. RIP
Got to see him live at the Nugget in Sparks. Yes, Roy was his great self but the whole group with him made it a fine show.
Pure class act! Musical and comedic talents were one of a kind! RIP, Roy, thank you for bringing such joy to the world!
I saw Roy in concert & looked to see who was playing with him, none. His 2 string was beyond belief.
