6:00. The medics are performing triage in order to prioritize care of the injured. The subtitle says "inspected" but what he actually said is "expectant" which means the patient is expected to die. They give the expectant patients morphine to ease their pain as they die. Then they move on to care for those who have a better chance of survival. Source: Being a corpsman for six years.

As bad as this was it could have been MUCH MUCH worse! Shortly before the invasion the precursor to the special forces were dropped into Normandy to find and destroy german 88mm artillery guns that would have been able to fire on not only the beach but the landing crafts and ships themselves. Had it not been for them there was a significant chance the entire invasion would have been stopped.

plus keep in mind that rommel told hitler many times that the defense had to be massively increased, more bunkers, more soliders, more mines, mor cannons etc. but hitler denied. if it had been fortified by actual generals and not hitler, dday wouldve been a desater without any benefit for the allies.

The Brits did one thing right, and that was listening to their Retired Officer who revolutionize tank warfare and whatnot.
He design and many were made of his Funnies(vehicle) and that is partly why they have a much better story than their American counterparts.
His funnies were only recognised by the Americans after seeing it work... This is partly why amongst other many reasons DDay was such a blood bath

It is interesting to see people that have never been in combat react to people being blown to pieces. In most war movies it is a very santized version of combat that people see.
