- Pyro has always been an essential part of fan culture, but fines, and stadium bans are only increasing. So in 2015 a Danish Pyrotechnitian began to create a form of Safe flares or Cold Smoke Flares. Finally after years of negotiating with authorities, the flares were tested by Brondby IF in their league match against Midtjylland. This new technology represents an exciting alternative for Tifos and Choreographies, as well as opening a new dialogue to amend a broken system.

The problem with using this as choreo is that it's too modern and too perfect. With real pyro just random all over the place it's more chaos (in a good way) and that results in a better atmosphere.
The problem with the "real pyro" is that it'll never be allowed to be that "random" and "chaotic", it simply isn't going to happen due to the potential for fire, injury etc. so if fan groups just keep resisting everything else I don't think we'll ever see any change at all. If it boils down to an "all or nothing" thing for all the fan groups, I'm pretty damn certain that it'll be a "nothing" in the end.
Although it's obviously not a one to one replacement of "real pyro" it's an advancement that may help to shop the powers that be that pyro *can* be done safer, that advancements are possible etc.and it'd show a lot of the skeptics how cool pyro can actually be in a stadium so even the people who are currently completely against any kind of pyro would get to see that it's actually fucking cool and maybe the rules should be loosened up a bit.
This type of flare obviously isn't the only improvement or advancement that's possible so the more you get to use pyro (even this "safe" kind) the more research you'll see when it comes to making pyro. A bigger market for it will drive more innovation in the field as there's money to be made.
And the more pyro the fans need (ie. if these types are legalized) the more mass-production will kick in and lower the price. At this point they're probably specially made in small batches which will always be more expensive.

@@markom1469 they cost around 16€ and that is if you buy 10 at a time (maybe possible to get more discount if you buy in the 100s). For a single one it's 20€. So it's almost 2.5 times the price of the normal flares.

People kinda missing the point here. This will allow legislation to pass legalising pyro, so traditional flares will likely see reduced punishments (or even potentially legalisation) as a result of this...

Why would they see diminished punishments? If there's a harmless alternative, they should get a higher punishment.

agreed, but to that point I don't think these are targeted at the same market as the normal flares. this seems like a product for your "normal" supporters that arent willing to smuggle in pyro, but would be down to use these for a tifo

to me an intimidating atmosphere has absolutely nothing to do with tifo's and pyro...but i'm a Liverpool fan and our atmosphere is created by well..the sound of the crowd!!...we don't need plastic flags and pumped in sound to create an atmosphere like City do....

Couple of points based on what you said though; you don't need plastic flags yet the kop is full of flags before every game, and the anfield atmosphere itself is such a myth, you sing ynwa once before the game and maybe after depending on if you're winning, your support is no where near as good as the media like to make out.

When it comes to the other English stands yeah I'd say Liverpool's athmosphere is one of the best but you have to admit that you always get dominated in the stands whenever a club with an ultras group Comes to visit, and here referring to Saint Etienne, Paris SG and Dortmund
