When we were teens in Vegas the thing to do was cruise downtown on a Saturday night… Now that area is closed off. Then the Rodeo would come to town once a year and that was a big deal. Then the Ice Palace opened up near the convention center and we all ice skated. There used to be a club for teens in 1969 called The Teen Beat club, no alcohol just dancing and hanging out with friends… I only have great memories.. Saw some amazing shows there, The Supremes, Elvis, Sinatra, a happy time for me in spite of all this that was going on!!

watch the whole story, "Eyes wide open"1948 Italy" on YT, how the US collaborate with Lucky Luciano and the Mafia against fascist Italy during World War II in exchange for political positions after the war! something they don't show in Hollywood. Mussolini get rid of the mafia, the US brought it back stronger as before. Like they got in the system in Italy, they got access to the US system. In 1948 the US had to change side and to work with former fascist, or whole western Europe would have endet under communism! The end came with the collapse of the Soviets, and operation Gladio in the 90s.

My godfather was a pit boss at Stardust for bout 10 years in 70s and 80s. He dealt in some ways almost daily with Lefty Rosenthal. He had some great stories about mobbed up casino but i was too young to really be interested in that stuff. Wasnt until after he passed that i was starting to read and hear on the news about the " hole in the wall" gang. Spilotro nephew and I are bout same age and he went to rival high school. About 20 years i hired John Spilotro who is a pretty well known attorney in city to represent me in a DUI case.Born and raised in Vegas and the mob stories were just ingrained in city and everyone knew but no one really thought twice about it. Except the cops. And Sheriff Ralph Lamb was notorious for going after these guys and trying to send em to prison.

Yes there were the findings in Lake Mead and it was unspoken of since we all assumed it was Mafia. But you never heard of holes in the desert. The movie Casino put all these people on the map. @@michaelharrison3602 yeah his son said that he was a good, loving father at home, despite what he may or may not have done on the street. A real family guy, and I don't mean like Peter Griffin. Of course Herbie Sperling's son Nicky said the same thing about his notorious father only to end up being roped into a h3ro1n trafficking conspiracy from the federal penitentiary in Lewisburg PA where Herbie was already serving life without parole for running a huge drug ring in the 60s and 70s (the first US defendant to be sentenced to life without parole for a drug crime, in 1973 - served 45 years and 4 months before finally dying in 2018!). Unfortunately for Herbie's son, the other participant in the supposed deal was notorious Harlem snitch Nicky Barnes, obviously before he was outed as a snitch. Got five years for just relaying a drug price list to Nicky's girlfriend still on the street and agreeing to supply her in the future. I guess the sons of big time gangsters and drug dealers always put Dad on a pedestal!
