I was wondering which contrast would yield the appropriate results. Such a simple scheme makes these guys a competitor for my dark heresy foot Marines.
Ditch that GW trash. Use Duraluminum or Dark Aluminum Metal Color from vellejo. You get like twice the paint (higher quality too) for slightly more money in a bottle with a mixer ball. Works about a million times better from an airbrush, if you want to go that route. The metal color range work amazing with contrast paint or inks mixed in directly as well.
Weird. The Auspex informed that he would be talking about Alpha Legion battle tactics, but all I, Cato Sicarius, saw were images of my battle brothers.
@@thefloatingcontinent9897 yes it could. That would be a good way to implement it. I just imagine it as a storyline character from the Imperiums point of view.
I am Alpharius (Strategem): Nominate any of infantry model in your army currently on the battlefield. If not already, it becomes a character and Alpha Legion (ect), attached to the unit if in a unit. That character is now your warlord.
On a serious note, I run the official Heresy game Alpharius model as my Abadon, and Larneaen as terminators with accursed weapons and combi-weapons, my CSM collection is heavily Alpha Legion themed
PSA: the older Horus Heresy Alpha Legion stuff (like the two consuls and the Lernaeans Terminators) is kind of on a smaller scale. I would strongly advise to look at size comparisons before buying. The newer ones (Exodus and the Saboteur) are perfect for the current CSM scale.
Personally what im doing is taking CSM mini's and toning down the chaos bits to make it more obscure where there loyalties actually are Loyalist mini's are very clearly just that but if you take of the impaled skulls and the like from CSM models you get a lot more range
Alpharius' display base is the same size as Abbaddon's in 40k so he does work very well as a proxy, and you can use the removeable 40mm base to run him as a chaos lord if you feel like it😈
Hydra Dominatus! I am Alpharius and so's my wife! The HH Alpha Legion are some great sculpts (as are most Legion-specific models), and I really fancy making some Termies. Also, a great way to do their metallic aquamarine armour is to prime with silver (I use Leadbelcher) and some Akhelian Green as a base coat, edge highlighting in Stormhost Silver or something.
I can't make 2000 points with your list. I have at least 280 extra points, and that's huge. That's really the problem with this detachment, is that it's totally dependent on the points of the munitorum. The 10 extra points on the legionnaires kill the detachment, that and the tanks and the Warp Tallon. The units become too expensive for not much result. You have one strategy and it's fifty fifty. No offensive or defensive buffs, no fallback charge, no redeployment (Warp Tallon too expensive and not enough lethality).
Honestly the best way to start a 40k Alpha legion is to just buy 30k minis then weapon swap them imo. The CSM figures are too black legion for me. Then just paint them silver and do some light washes with one of the blue green contrast paints if youre using GW. If not and you have an air brush I recommend Mission Models color change blue over a base color of your choice, then the color of the mini changes depending on the angle viewed at.
I'm trying to make the Deceptors detachment work in a League I'm doing. I don't have high hopes though. Infiltrate is just too hit or miss. Cultist kind of need the Commune's 5++ to survive as a screen too so that is another tax. You really need to focus on trading units with it. I really miss my sniper Exalted Champion from last edition, having him snipe out a Librarian with the old relic "pistol" was fun. Gone now... Infantry waves are our tactic now.
I've had 3 games at my local shop and have only lost because of bad mission draws. I think the strats are sick, but need to be used at the perfect time or you lose momentum. I still have hope for a win 😂
id like to thank u for this video! it has partly inspired me to start my own alpha legion army with mostly horus heresy models. the models are very modular and there are seperate special and heavy weapons available. iam on 2 predators, 1 contemptor(hellbrute) en 25 mk3 marines finished and steadily expanding.
So, been planning an Alpha legion army for a few years now. Other stuff on my plate to chew threw first, but I was strongly considering picking up a few Scylla legion 3d prints literally earlier today to help get the ball rolling. ... I'll be running them as Codex Complaint Loyalists. Aside of Sternguard and Terminators probably using all Primaris rules too.
Really miss how creative and flavored earlier editions were. I love the tricksy legion but they dont actually seem to ever do things that could be considered deceptive? Like in the last edition when I only had necrons I had a character that could get an enemy unit to shoot its friends; this just feels restrictive and like Im roleplaying playing a tricky army rather than actually playing as one
An idea for some wargamers that play space marines and have hellblasters. Have a 10-man squad of hellblasters, attach a luitenant and an apocathary. Choose the gladius task force detachment. Give the luitenant fire discipline for 30 pts. there are 2 strategems that you will want to use. For those who don't know this detachment, you can choose one doctrine. there are 3. the assault, which is advance and charge, the devestator, which lets you advance and shoot, and the tactical, which lets you fall back, shoot and charge. when you get in range with your hellblasters, choose the devestator doctrine, and use the storm of fire strat to give no cover and -1 ap on the dev doctrine. Here are the stats: 2 shots, 3+ to hit, 8 strength on supercharge, -4 ap with strat on dev doctrine, 2 dmg. No cover, lethal hits on 5+ sustained hits on 5+ shoot on death on a 3+. You would think that you could only use this once per game, right? wrong. With the strat adaptive strategy, you can use this every turn good luck! (not that you'll need luck with this). My hellblasters have killed angron when it wasn't even my turn. They have killed two armigers in one turn, one on overwatch. They can, with a bit of luck, kill mortarion in one turn. They are really good against anything. tanks, because of lethals, hordes, because of sustained, elites because of strength and dmg. they are my favourite unit now.
When I got into Warhammer 40k, I was daunted by the thought of dealing with so much resin to make the awesome scaled armor they had in heresy sets, and i didn't want to make them with the modern 40k CSM armors, so I didn't begin with an army of my favorite legion(and honestly favorite faction overall in the lore) instead picking the Thousand Sons and Tzeentch Daemons because I'm a nerd who loves his magic and forbidden knowledge too. Hi, if you are wanting to stick with actual CSM kits it is a problem as the AL would typically be less busy on trim and have the scale textures, that why i personally like the primaris kits for them as they are blank slates and have the tacticool vibe. Personally i wouldn't feel so beholden to actual csm kits because they dont fit AL's vibe, try using the Heresy Mark 3 or mark 6 kits and there are lots of awesome scaled bits on printing sites
As for paint scheme its surprisingly easy. Prime with a metallic, drybrush a shiny silver. Then use Akhelian Green. (Its not green at all its a horrible name for the paint but it basically IS the Alpha Legion blue)
