      Hey you guys need to try Banh Xeo Bar at the Cannery in Rosebery, they do a modern style pork roll which still captures all the authentic flavours which make it very special tasting. Must try for any banh mi lovers!

    When we lived in Sydney our go to bahn mi was Hong Ha in Mascot. It has consistently made the top 10 bahn mi in Sydney. They usually have long queues too. Highly recommended if you're not over bahn mi. Haven't found the perfect bahn mi here in Melbourne yet but I've been hearing great things about Ca Com in Richmond and it turns out one of out local bakeries here in the north does a decent bahn mi too. I reckon heaps of places do good bahn mi but the next level ones... well that's why we have top 10 lists I suppose 😀
    Excellent video!

      Thanks Shane :) We used to live in Mascot area so Hong Ha was like our weekend breakfast😅 Love their bread & still really good banh mi till now, hopefully we'll make part 2 and it surely be on the list hehe. I heard good banh mi in Springvale, equivalent of Cabramatta. Wish we can make it to Melbourne soon, we've cancelled our trip twice 🥲

    • @ShaneNixonFamily
      @ShaneNixonFamily 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nickandhelmi LOL. I didn't think you'd forgotten Hong Ha. 😀 I had no idea about Springvale until we went there a couple of months ago. Oh my there were a lot of restaurants. We've cancelled a couple of interstate (and international) trips too. I feel your pain. We got to the NSW South Coast a week or so ago and it was only our second time out of Melb in 2 years. 🤣

    We are very lucky in Sydney for choice! Many good choices and so many types of food as well. Banh Mi had always been around but I have observed a resurgence recently. It is amazing what foods you miss when in lockdown, I guess. Banh Mi, for me, is one thing I had missed esp as my local Vietnamese bakery had closed. So, happy to see so much support-would love for these businesses to stay open.

    $9 for a Banh Mi is not considered a cheap eat. It is like saying $9 for one piece of corn chip is cheap. No, thats an insanely expensive corn chip.

      In Sydney anything under $10 is a cheap eat. I remember the days when Banh Mi was from $3/roll…those days long gone.
      Hong Ha in Mascot has been around for about 30 years and still always has a line to wait. Hadn’t had one in ages and had one yesterday; still worth the wait.
      During lockdown I missed the Vietnamese bakeries…so glad to have them back and happy to support them from $9/roll…just to make sure these businesses remain open.

    • @rgwhwrfdbwrg
      @rgwhwrfdbwrg 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@iloveentertainment Have to disagree. Not everything < $10 is cheap. Its relative & depends on what it is. you can get a bowl of pho for $9. Considering the effort & ingredient in broth, a $9 banh mi is not it.

      @@rgwhwrfdbwrg I am not talking specific to Banh Mi but eating out in Sydney in general. The cheapest is always making it at home; my preference. Banh Mi is definitely a better meal than a Maccas meal for instance at the same price (roughly). I would have Banh Mi once in awhile; this weekend for me was Banh Mi week. I probably won’t have another in awhile.

    Helmi, notice you don't squish the banh mi before you eat it. Very hard to get a bite without the squish. You seem to Alex N Roll even though you don't think the bread is the best. The fillings must be amazing mmmm must try that one day just remember to go at 10:30 hahaha. Interesting to have with the last spot the beef banh mi, never seen that before.
