We just installed the Pole Pal USA 7pc Dump Trailer Wiring Set on our PJ Dump Trailer and couldn't be happier! Their kit uses 2 gage wire and Anderson quick connects. We have tried adding a solar panel but it still wasn't enough. We have 3 work trucks and 3 trailers (dump, equipment and enclosed) and plan to install the truck side wiring on all 3 trucks and the trailer side wiring on all 3 trailers. It is the best solution I have found by far! We will use the trucks battery and alternator to supply power to the pump on the dump trailer, winch on the equipment trailer and interior lighting, outlets and accessories on the enclosed trailer.
Great video full of insights! Im assuming the DC to DC charger requires the Anderson plug setup (own set of wire straight from the truck battery) and not running through the 7 Pin plug correct? As for the other comments ref type of battery, sometime you simply dont have choice but go beyond the option of getting the best deep cycle battery , like when hauling a full load of 18'' logs with a 12V winch.
We're glad you liked the video! The 12V feed on the 7-way would be insufficient to run your DC to DC charger. You'll need to connect directly to the start battery in your truck.
If your 12V pin on the 7-way trailer connector is active with the ignition off, a solenoid like # TR118665 would be a great idea. www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and-Parts/Tow-Ready/TR118665.html
Too much going on here. Buy a lithium battery and be done with all of this doing. The lead batteries don't get you nowhere. For RV's, buses, boats and trailers, buy lithium batteries. You'll dump all day and still have plenty of power left. Thank me later.

Shouldn't a relay be installed on the charge wire ?thus isolating trailer battery except when truck is running so it can charge

Nice trailer by the way how much do those cost do you have used or repoos at a fraction the cost I need one can't afford insurance for a dump truck.
Unfortunately we don't sell dump trailers. Your local buy/sell/trade facebook page would be a good place to start looking for a used one.
What kind of trailer is that?

Just make sure it's warm enough to charge it.
@@IYar56 If you buy that Iron lithium battery, charge it mid November and it'll carry you through January. The damn thing just kept going strong.
