  • Most seminaries in America are not ethnically or culturally very diverse. Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary has started the Kingdom Diversity Initiative whose main purpose is to increase diversity at the seminary and spread that influence into church life in general. Listen as Walter Stickland and Maliek Blade share the work they're doing and the importance of it.

Seminaries claim to train Christian leaders, but here are some things most seminaries don’t tell you:
    1. The Bible has no mistakes.
    2. God has promised to preserve his perfect words forever.
    3. God has preserved the Bible in English and we do not need a hundred competing English translations.
    4. Different Bible translations do affect major doctrines.
    5. Difficult Bible verses can be resolved without changing the words or spiritualizing.
    6. The most important tools for Bible preaching and teaching are free.
    7. You can understand God and the Bible without a Ph.D, M.Div, or Th.M.
    8. The most profitable attributes of a minister cannot be taught in a classroom.
    9. Christian ministry is not a means of employment.
    10. Churches are where you should learn to do church ministry. Preparing for church ministry at a university is like learning to swim in the desert.

is diversity in seminary in the tune of different races of just men? are there any women who may not be called to be pastors, but attend seminary to sharpen their calling?

Yes, there are women in Seminary. I am one of them called to seminary but to pastor.

Thank You my day is going well....now, I think your question might be better answered by moderator tk clearly he invited these two gentlemen as representatives for this initiative...I also heard them speak to the need for more women also their white counterparts are majority men they don't disregard them but instead take the opportunity to teach the need/importance for more diversity. These brothers are leaders in this initiative who better to represent my sister.

So glad to come across this interview. I've been considering seminary. As a woman, and one of color I wasn't quite sure what to consider or expect.

good morning. I'm not sure if you were inviting me to get my emotions in check, but this is why typing, rather than face to face can easily be misconstrued. however, maybe these comments can be constructive and hopeful. I HEAR them saying those things, but why isn't the panel represented as such? that was why I asked my question. hope your day is going well.
