Here in the UK the price of the Theatre Bar 9 has been reduced to £999 which is the same price as the Sonos Arc Ultra which lacks an HDMI passthrough input, and DTSX support.
I came to ask how the Arc Ultra compares, and you provided part of the answer. I haven't seen a performance comparison between the 2 yet. The Sound Motion technology that Sonos has acquired intrigues me.
very good point, although that's only relevant for people who still has a bluray player. For all the rest, I believe that the Sonos + sub mini is a better option than the Bar 9 + SW3
Given the high price and mixed performance, I have to believe most people that consider buying the Sony soundbars have a Sony TV. I wish at least one of the reviewers would focus on this. If you have the A95L or Bravia 9, is this the best option or does it not make a difference? I know, for example, that the Sony soundbar is better integrated into the TV interface than Samsung or Sonos would be. Does that matter? What about the center channel sync feature? Reviewers seem to give this not much weight but in the comments there are always people that have one of the newest flagship TV's that say it sounds great. I would love to see at least one review for this soundbar that paired it with one of the latest flagships. I personally care a lot about having the soundbar well integrated with my TV interface so that I do not have to do tech support for the rest of the family. My room is not well suited for adding rear speakers so that rules out the Samsung for me. It is more between Sony and Sonos. The center channel sync seems like it could be a good feature since I think my TV audio already sounds pretty good but I would like to see a review that really explores this.
Just bought the bar 9 with 300W sub and RS5 back speakers at 1800 euros. Very good deal I would say. The sound is really amazing and I am impressed with quality. BUT, the audio quality, clarity and volume depend on: 1. the apps you're broadcasting from (Spotify, Tidal, TH-cam etc.). Select good quality songs and you get superb sound. 2. how each movie is made in terms of sound, because let's say 2 movies support Dolby Atmos, you're gonna listen different results depending on the tech used. 3. the room you have. Size, items blocking are going to affect the quality, not to much, but a huge living room compared to a small on will not provide the same results.
I'm so used to seeing Abby, having other hosts on the channel feels like they equipped a battlepass skin even though the og base skin will always be the best!
Why do you use measurements that include Room modes and other room effects and therefore are unreliable for other rooms and highly dependent on positioning? Could you please look into creating spinorama data or using gated measurements for the higher frequencies and near field measurements below to remove room effects from the measurements?
AAV is designed for levelling out the audio on commercials… I’m not sure you should be suggesting people have it on all the time. It reduces the dynamic range when turned on.
I haven't seen a performance comparison between the Bar 9 and Sonos Arc Ultra yet, any chance of that? The Sound Motion technology that Sonos has acquired intrigues me.
@@AndrewB23 and then you have the 300w sub at $500 normally (MSRP more) which is beyond a joke at that price point....This whole set up is way overpriced, plus you have to go through a gimmicky app to use it properly.. no thanks Sony
Love the verdict section and comparison to competitor products if you value different things. Thanks rtings.

The Samsung Q990 is overall a better value and comes complete. It is a beast setup.
In your opinion, which sound bar (any brand) is best with a Sony TV ?
Any idea of i could use my old sub from sony bar ht 400 or simmilar with this bar?
Sony bravia theater bar and JBL bar 1300, which one is better?
I just like Sony products, I have 55" Sony tv and a small Sony sound bar..... looking forward to upgrade the sound bar to theater bar 9!
Rting is too nice to just call this system a rip off
A shame that they removed one of the HDMI inputs that the predecessor had
my local store is having a promotion selling it at 750 USD for the soundbar alone, is it worth it at 750 USD?
Meh, there are better for the price
Got it. Thanks. Was wondering cause it is 50% off from msrp here in my country
Not an impressive setup, but i was able to get a complete system for 300 dollars. Good enough for my casual living room
the rears for the price are so disaapointing
Hello Vanessa.😊
Impressive ❤ from 🇮🇳
It’s overpriced, Sony
Almost goes without saying…Sony tax is real.
Not only this one😢
Doesn't matter if it's a Sony no sound bar set up should cost more than $300
Only buy Sony during black Friday for that reason

Impressive..can I have it?😊
Just buy a real surround sound, no sound bar set up should cost more than $300 it's just over glorified tv speakers in their own enclosure
Don't like wires
I dont like those useless extra rumbles. . Deal breaker for me. . I think Samsung wins the clarity game nowadays. .
Q990c/q990D does have have DTS-X, dts -hd. FYI. 🎉
