Whenever I stay overnight at a "No motorhomes or campers"-spot, I put a high-viz-west over the passenger seat and the cheapest hard hat I could find on Amazon and a A4 clipboard with somje paperwork on the dashboard. Additionally some red/white reflective magnetic stickers on the backside of the car. In my experience you can park nearly everywhere this way.
'who would have thought having a diesel heater that you can leave switched on, would be such a game changer'......everyone who has been watching you videos shouting at the screen saying Shaun ...fit the bloody heater you bought ages ago🤣🤣🤣. One thing I would do it relocate the pump outside and make sure it's on an anti vibration mount. Then the ticking of the pump will just be a distant noise that won't keep you awake if you want to run it all night😁
Hi ref the diesel heater from what I saw you have a bend in the exhaust like a U bend this will cause you problems in the long run it needs to be straight facing down so any fluid moisture etc can drain off the exhaust muffler thing has a really small hole for the fluids to drain off. I would also recommend having the exhaust fumes running out on the opposite side of the van to where your sliding door is you can get extensions if needed but definitely run out the other side of the van to your door. I usually attatch the muffler to the sill as you dont want the fumes under the van either as they will find a way in !!
Organisation is subject, i.e. not filling your diesel tank before you left. But your cooking is well up to par. Have a lovely Christmas🚐☕️☕️👍🏼🏴🌈🙏🏼💙❤️💙❤️
Shaun the Driftwood spars is a great pup and it’s got its own brewery and also a lot of music history attached to the place a lot of music legends have played there 👍
Maybe you could have the Diesel heater fed directly from the vans diesel tank? The use hardly any diesel so don’t have to worry about it running the tank dry. And then you won’t have to open any doors to fill it, so loose no heat, and no fumes going into the van, And also with the check brake light. I garantee you the breaks are fine, it’s the rear ABS sensor, common fault with these vans I’ve recently had mine done, it has a hammering under the van I’m sure it cost me about £50. Worth having a look at👍🏼
I just fitted a diesel heater in my van. I also have on in the garage at home and there great. Little tip tho, if you use a longer fuel hose and wiring you can fit the pump under the bonnet and that way the ticking on H1 can hardly be heard at all. Enjoy the warmth.
A few more tips on those heaters! Lots have already mentioned that green tubing... change it soon as it will fail pretty quickly and you'll have diesel everywhere. Seems as though it dissolves in diesel. Who'd have thought. And a bit late now, but if you tap into the tank from the top and run a tube into the fuel then you'll never have a leak out the bottom (there are a few kits for doing this on ebay). Lastly, the fuel delivery for the heaters isn't calibrated when they ship so they tend to pump too much fuel and can fur up in no time. There are a number of kindly people on TH-cam who've uploaded videos on how to calibrate them. Another entertaining video, thanks!
Shaun you can run the diesel heater off the power station using a old laptop power supply from the 240 socket gives out 12v up to 18 amps so enough for startup no need for going back to leisure battery if you don't want
Make sure you let the diesel heater turn off on the controls. It needs to cool down otherwise bits start melting bits… it has an inbuilt cool down period
So much of the van life community seem to turn their nose up at Diesel heaters for some reason, but they are the safest, most travel efficient heating you cpuld have in a van. An absolute game changer. I lived in my van for over a year and it was by far the most essential piece of kit. Personally, I would always plumb it into the main vehicle tank, to not only remove the risk of spilling diesel, but also as you generally always have diesel in there when you need it as you are unlikely to forget to fill your van, but you might forget to fill a separate tank.
Loved my diesel heater, I had the pump and filter under the van, one cos the ticking gets annoying and if the filter was to leak, it wouldn't stink the van out.
Get rid if the green fuel tubing Shaun if you haven’t already and covered it in the video. Theres better harder line kits available. The green tubing fails.
O my gar! I've just had the same warning on my Transit. I had a look and I think it is probably a frayed wire to the pad sensor. Check yours out before parting with ya wonga Shaun. Merry Christmas pard. 😉
Cracking little video Shaun. You can plumb your diesel heater straight in your diesel tank if you want to and that’ll save you pouring diesel in every time but that’s up to you mate. Your van does look so cosy I’ll give you that, it’s makes me want to go out and buy another one. Keep the good videos coming mate. 😊
I have always admired you dude... I think having a night off once in a while from the family is what i need to do too. They are my world but i need time to breathe and take stock sometimes!
Mate, if you can access the top of the van's diesel tank from under the passenger seat (like you can on ducato/boxer), its really easy to tap into the diesel tank. I did mine with no experience and its all good. Bobil vans is a good video to watch how to do it. Took about half an hour
I came down to Cornwall earlier this year and ran Man Up & Down, went through Chapel Porth, didn't know where I was but want to go back again, stunning little place. Fun run too 🙈
Good start though Ideally put the heater in a stainless box (available ready made) under the van, obviating any fume risk, smells and noise. T into the van fuel line rather than faffing with a small tank. Yeah the exhaust should angle slightly down to let condensation escape. Dave McLuckie on TH-cam is a top man for diesel heater info. I suspect your power unit will start the heater anyway.
The Green fuel pipe often fails, can be seen in a large number of TH-cam videos regarding heater issues. My advice is buy some genuine Eberspacher or Autoterm fuel pipe and refit when you have a chance
Couple of top tips for your heater that made all the difference in my van, if you nerd need to extend the exhaust pipe 22mill copper pipe does the job also have the pump and pipe work outside direct to your fuel tank, no danger of spills or leaks to contaminate your living area also suspend the pump from a thick rubber exhaust mount pretty much eliminates the pump noise which will drive you nuts after a while, good luck
Deffo get rid of that shite green.pipe! It degrades quite quick and will be brittle and crack within 12 months, it really is crap, only thing I've found it useful for is for screen wash 👍
Shaun, every single one of your videos have been so serene, for me, and incredibly inspiring. You are talented in your work that you’ve accomplished in both van conversions and I thank you for sharing the process with us. As an avid camper, I too would get feedback from my friends that my diet was bad while camping. And that’s just it: while camping. I’m sure you have a great diet plan during your week and we all need to have at least one day of free time to enjoy the weekend or day(s) off to fill our minds and souls with our favorite things that are worth bringing us serenity and joy. Thank you for your work on these videos as they expose me to such a peaceful experience and for that, I am grateful. Cheers! Doug
You can eat and drink what you want mate, no one has the right to tell you otherwise, it's all about the videos you put out and their locations ! Keep up the good work, and to all the busy bodies,,, get a life 🏴😉👍
Great to see you will be toasty warm now Shaun, I used to love my night heater when I used to do nights out as a wagon driver. I hope the brake pads don't set you back too much mate.
Hi mate .that pump will drive you mad under your bed.....put it under the van at the front....or at least under the van......mine is and I hear nothing 👍.. Also never let anything block the outlet as it gets very hot and will burst into flames if left to long..especially if it's material...bed sheets..stay safe👍
Great video, warmth *&* a food supply on board, excellent! Get yourself a UK made Hug Rug by the door, they're soft underfoot & will keep the rest of the van clean, I have a few & love them.
Hi Shaun, Merry Christmas to you and your family hope you have a good one. The heater I was told not to use the green line but to use the white solid pipe and you can get a silent fuel pump which is quieter. 👍🏻 Take care and all the best 👍🏻

Why does it seem that there is always something that needs to be fixed? Brakes? Now those are important so hopefully you got that tended to quickly and it wasn’t too expensive. I would have liked a bite of that egg and bacon sandwich. It looked yummy! Glad you were warm and toasty with your new heater. Very important I would say if you plan on being in your van during the winter. Happy Christmas to you and your family.
Hi Shaun, what about parking up at st Agnes head near the beacon loads of parking up there not sure if vans are banned or not and maybe on that day too windy but it’s a lovely spot and you can walk along the cliff tops past the old mines towards chapel porth and have a cup of tea in the cafe 👍
Is that the Maxpeedingrods 2kw? Looks the same as what I've just installed in my custom , 2nd one for me and works great but everyone is going to advise you to swap out that green fuel line for the white stuff, it will split if you don't (apparently any way)
Have you had your 12v charger system looked at? I know you love the power banks but would be good to know why your system isn’t working right. Might help solve issues for others in the future. 😄
Hi sean another great video , was going to mention about your fuel line from the tank being underneath ...ya going to suck in any crap which gets in ya tank & having your pump inside the van will drive you nuts 🤪 🤪 . But having read that it is only a temporary job fair enough ..that bacon &egg roll ...looked amazing ..locations looked amazing aswell . Merry Christmas to you &your family .. CHEERS ..

Why is there a diesel Tank inside your Camper? Get a Webasto Fuel fix, put that thing into the original diesel Tank and then from underneath the car directly into the heater (use Webasto or Eberspächer fuel line) Nobody wants to have diesel + the little filter inside the car.
St Agnes is a beauty part of Cornwall, cheers for the video Shaun. Will you be uploading next week ? (Xmas Eve) Understand if not but otherwise have a very merry Christmas to you, your wife and your little Charlie 👌

You looking great shaun very healthy lol. i love how you are loving the side window its a great feature to have in the van hhhhmmmmm 😂 that bacon and egg butty looked fantastic. Question you never show how you get washed and stuff at night or in the morning. Is that because you don't have a bathroom. Just saying i see a lot of youtube people do the same and they don't have any bathroom facility's, one uses baby wipes to clean the pots and themselves 🤣🤣. Great diesel heater now it coasy and warm top marks. Love seeing you every sunday stay safe buddy love to the family. Michael notts.🙏🫶👍

Well said, it's a time for enjoying all the good stuff you don't normally eat at home. Also nice that people are here to look after your diet. :)

1:10 That is a satellite 🛰️ so that you can contact emergency services when there is no signal! I think that it’s an awesome new feature.
Love Sundays, because of your vlogs. Cheers!.😊
On transit you can put diesel pump in plastic box under van then you can't hear pump

Typical Ford transit with the warning light for brakes. It's worth checking the pads but also the wiring for them before doing pads
I'm hungry now. Thanks 👍
