  • Pictorial parade , produced by the national film unit of New Zealand that was located in Avalon lower Hutt .A good recourd of the last steam loco built at Dunedin in 1956 . This loco as featured in this video .Has been restored and now is on disply out side the Dunedin railway station .

    Visit any model train show and you'll see why HO scale layouts and model trains are the most popular worldwide. Although not called HO scale in the UK, OO gauge (UK's most popular) is very close to the same size as HO model trains (HO scale is 1:87 compared to OO gauge at 1:76). It's popular because the scale is just such a practical size!

      they were I just missed them but went over the Raurimu Spiral in a Ka- think it was Ka 945- which is a New Zealand built locomotive with a 4-8-4 wheel configuration (my father was a steam buff) it was fantastic nothing like steam

    That bit about the " Red Indians" was a bit childish don't you think? I mean it was a Ja class hauling the "South Island Limited,along the Canterbury plains well over 50 mph, more like 65/,70 mph
