    Good review. I have broken so many 909 buckles. I don't feel like the plastic protector covers it enough, but other than that the skate is the perfect fit for me.

    I've been skating my Mooopi's for a couple months now. Was able to skate the wheels until they needed to be replaced and didn't run into any clacking. I DID lose one of the cuff bolts but replaced them with a new black set off roller warehouse which looks better than the brushed metal anyways. Also I stripped out the head on one of the frame bolts because I didn't realize that the allen wrench size was slightly larger than literally every other piece of inline gear I own, so be sure to use the wrench they give you. 28cm foot crew unite, my mediums also fit perfectly.

    • @eathdt
      @eathdt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The bloody cuff bolts is a big issue, same happened to me.

      I have since started encountering issues with the wheels. Not clacking per se but in some cases the bearing will just fall out of the wheel when I take them out. Reading what others have posted here kind of confirms my suspicion it has to do with the axle as you can wiggle the wheel laterally on the axle, even when they're tightened down. Someone in the comments suggested filing the axle down which I think I will try.

    • @dansteinke5016
      @dansteinke5016 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also the Allen wrench is the same size as every other Allen wrench, I was incorrect about that. These bolts are just REALLY EASY to strip if your tool isn't seated all the way

    Another great video with before you buy skate info. You ever gonna try the carbons out? I'm curious if you'd like them.
    Also you mentioning the laces made me think wouldn't the last piece of the puzzle of making a complete pro THEM skates be putting their waxed laces on the boot?

    • @j4nk3n

      You would think Jon Julio would put branded laces on an premium product, and that liner looks kinda suspect to be honest...

  • @bonter1983

    That clacking sound is typically a frame or bearing issue. Bearings with poor tolerances or frames and axles that don't clamp down rhe wheels and spacers tightly.

    • @GerdGuchl
      @GerdGuchl 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah, often bearings, the spacers or a wheel change do the trick - its a problem which comes way too often in rollerblading - kids, clacky skates are the worst! :)

    Not skated my 909’s huge amount, but i noticed most of the hardware is pretty rubbish. Cuff bolts come loose, soul bridge receivers round easily. Laces wernt great. Replaced them with waxed ones. Would have liked some sort of shock absorber. Other than that i have been pretty impressed with the feel of the skate and how they skate.

    • @j4nk3n

      I still don't understand paying top dollar for a skate and literally having to replace every part of it to get the thing right! It's like....if Jon Julio is penny pinching on laces, where else is he doing it?

    • @GerdGuchl
      @GerdGuchl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes the screws and hardware needs to be upgraded on the 909, AND, these should all come with those sola/muzzle yoga mat between the boot and the soul plate - i did it and it makes such a difference! Its good!!!

  • @FiscHwaecg
    @FiscHwaecg 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I was disappointed by the 909s. They are good skates but sadly not for me. With foot length of 277mm the M shell seems to always be just a little bit big. The clear shell of the Beers make it even more obvious as I can see the gap between the front of the liner and the front of the shell. Even when lacing them super tight the liner feels disconnected to the boot. I wish I could like them but I don't.

    • @dimivouno

      I had the same problem

  • @jamseyy
    @jamseyy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think the clicking is the frames! more specifically the axles. the axles are like 1.5mm too long and max out on tightness before they've actually squeezed the frame all the way. i had to drill two of mine out because they were frictioned in place not against the frame wall but within the axle itself

    • @BrandonDrummond
      @BrandonDrummond  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I really like both those skates. The Blanks have a better liner and wider soul plate than the Thems. They're a more "modern" boot similar to a Razor SL.
