I always liked the M56 - i built a small model kit of this vehicle when I was very young around 1970-71 and I never forgot it.

The Scorpion is one of my favorite American Tank Destroyers in War Thunder, the mobility combined with the HEATFS shell it can use makes it an incredibly fun and deadly vehicle. Nice video btw :)

I love these light SPGs. It takes a lot of finesse to make them work, but the firepower they can provide at a low cost and low profile is absolutely fantastic.
It's a shame NATO has dropped the concept of lightweight anything in a vain hope that armor solves everything while neglecting maneuverability to a criminal extent.
While at the same time using barely armored jeeps as ATVs.

True, many western countries now use massive gas guzzlers instead. Although they're very safe to be in, they're ridiculously big for the amount of armour protection they have lol

Ooh some great detail there thanks Chris. Yet to see an Ontos in person yet, hopefully when I do I'll have my camera!

While this thing is funny in Tanks because that gun is absolutely bullshit against its tier, you can sort of appreciate the thing's immediate effect. Its armor (sort of) hitting the field in rapid actions, its gun can still kill tanks and can probably serve eviction notices to stubborn bunkers to that degree at the cost of risking the crew to environmental herpaderp as well as getting plinked.

I fired expert with a M56 and a M48 tank and yes if you did not keep your eye pressed against the eye piece you would wind up with a black eye on the M56. spent a year driving and as a loader and shooter .

The M56 was developed for places a M48 could not go

They were not very popular with their crews. As you can see from them bouncing around after firing it was a bit of a shock to fire.

That recoil and bounce is no joke!! Thanks for watching Patrick.

"And what action the Scorpions did see, was largely acting *IN DIRECT* fire support"
