Rescuing an abandoned 1982 trans am. Sitting for over 2 years. Part 1.

We got a lead on this vehicle from a family friend and we went on a hunt to find it.

That's actually a 1983, not an 82, and it has the quite rare factory Lear Siegler front seats. Very nice!

@@3guysgarage Glad to help! If you check the VIN, you'll see it reads this: 1G2AW87xxDx2xxxxx, where the D indicates a 1983 model. Also, the T-shifter handle style was 1983 only, and the seat belts are 1983 and up. Those Lear Sieglers are worth a bit of money, but hopefully you can restore the car. The blue deluxe interior is more on the rare side too. Can't wait to see your progress!

@@KnightRiderHistoriansOfficial Correct on the 1983-only shifter, however the shifter handle in this car is not the correct 1983 part. If you look closer, this shifter handle extends down onto the shifter stem much farther than an actual 1983 shifter handle.

I'm a huge GM fan and even though these cars weren't as fast as they are now, just the design of it makes it iconic. I own an '88 Iroc in extrenely good condition and these were the sister car to mine. Pontiac wasn't a slouch, they made the first muscle car, the GTO, sad to see them gone now. Great find and good luck! Would love to see the 'after' video!

700 R4 which is a POS transmission I had 2 1 was an '84 and I never had problems with that 700 R4 because it was rebuilt and had a shift kit put in it . The '88 I had problems with the 700R4 but I had it rebuilt and after that the car nicked and dimed me and I got rid of it I wrecked my '84 firebird .

Sold the complete car to a guy in Delaware
