Short term charities are fine, but short term things are short termed. One can type something patriotic in the social media and take a picture of some people giving out goods to people on a line, but who knows if they'll arrive tomorrow too? Saying that you will help people without any concise and strategic annual plan is just hypocritical. Just giving out goods isn't fine. We need something working behind the scenes. Or maybe we do already? Well, it all comes down to where the people shift the blame to. Placing your whole life's responsibility to a person is just irresponsible. If you see someone suffering, help them if you want. Don't blame somebody who's not even doing anything to the person in question. Indifference can sure be a sin sometimes, huh.
This is true filipino culture. As a filipino being raised in the west, I see that our culture has become too westernised. We need to embrace our real roots. Thank you for this video.
True but also the thing here is that all ethnolinguistic group in pre-colonial times had their own customs, traditions, beliefs, dances, music, etc. But a lot of those were forgotten after the Spanish then the Americans invaded especially among ethnolinguistic groups (mostly those in the low land and non-isolated areas) that were greatly affected like the Tagalogs, Kapampangans, Pangasinenses, Ilocanos, Bisayas like Cebuanos, etc. If what you and probably others are trying to imply by "embracing our real roots" is to similarly adapt and/or copy these customs by other ethnic groups that get to preserve their pre-colonial culture since they weren't that affected, then you're wrong and you should not because that is basically cultural appropriation and a disrespect to the ancestors of whatever ethnolinguistic group you are in since they most likely don't even practice those. The best thing that most of us can do is to preserve and uplift these indigenous cultures rather than "embrace". What im trying to say here is that, we can't really embrace our real roots specially among ethnolinguistic groups that were "hispanicized" and "americanized" due to colonialism since practices and lifestyles among ethnic groups in pre-colonial Philippines are *not* the same and that those groups that were "westernized" have now forgotten or have no clue on what their ancestors were before colonization since most of it was lost and again, due to colonialism. Me for example, Im an Ilocano, its really hard for me to "embrace my real root" since there's barely any records of what ilocanos were before being subjugated by the Spanish. Things like what do they sing, dance, the exact patterns or designs of their clothes, tattoos, etc. The only thing that I can really do is to preserve and speak Iloko. The only record there is that I know of is that we Ilocanos traded a lot with our foreign neighbors, our personalities, our physique, our social system, and that's it, not too much into detail. It is sad really, but there's nothing we can do about it.

I am not a particularly patriotic person because I've seen many things, that if I love my country for what it is, then it can mean that I will accept the dark sides of what my country has. However, I do have respect to some people who are passionate to what they're doing. Culture is one thing that made our country what it is today, but I believe that we can utilize our country's culture better. What I'm saying is that, people these days sure do useless things huh. I'm not referring to this video at all, I'm saying that they're doing useless banters about "love for their country" whilst not even doing to support their said country. Preserving culture, it's an honorable thing to do. But I'd say our ancestors might appreciate it better if we do that to increase our country's "value". Philippines is in a pretty stagnant position if you're gonna ask me. That's just my opinion though. Believe what you want to believe.
