No wonder we see so many parker hoses come through our shop with crimp tolerances that loose. .5mm is a massive tolerance = to .197 inches. Aeroquip has a tolerance of +- .006 inch (-4 to -16) for reference and manuli is -.008 (also -4 to -16).
Caterpillar is .004 . That's why so many choose OEM from Cat for hoses .
@@Dawgreen I mean i find even aeroquip overpriced vs something like manuli. cat makes good hoses for sure but the prices are a little exhorbitant in the marketplace which is why we see a few cat hoses here and there as well.
@@b-rant I work for a Cat Dealer so maybe I'm biased, but I've definitely never seen a better built hose, We made 16,500 hoses last month alone . We can't keep up with demand some months .
@@Dawgreen we definitely respect the cat quality. Not sure what our total numbers are but 2 guys can pump out close to 1000 -4 to -20 hoses in production style, but thats a sweaty 11 hour day lol.

When measuring the hose you took off the end fittings to give your final measurement. I thought you were supposed to take another 5mm to allow for growth when squaging?
+Ben Harris Hi Ben, you are correct that during swaging there can be elongation however this can depend on multiple factors such as the how the hose and fittings have been manufactured - i.e. the compound of the rubber or hardness of the steel being used can have varying effects. Even the machine type used and operator can have a direct impact on the the final swage.
That being said, in most instances, hoses should be assembled within a tolerance, therefore any growth while swaging should be accounted for and so not necessary to add any extra length. For example, a hose measuring 48" should allow for +/-13mm on the overall hose length.

wouldn't say that now gates have moved production to india and now china and we had a price increase then they refused to supply standard 2 wire (g2) meaning we were all forced to buy the new extra flex smooth cover at twice the price per meter hence why we deal with 5 different suppliers with a much cheaper product just as good
