Huge thank you to Eric for filming, The North Face for hosting the competition (and everyone involved) and to Altitude for sponsoring the video. Check out altitudeclimbing.com/emil to get access to their free mini-training on fear of falling as well as the fear assessment test!
It's finally live! I had so much fun filming this together with Emil and meeting up with everyone again! :D Next year we will get Emil into the Dyno Comp!
Ah cheers man, if there’s any legend here it’s the mad man who just burnt off a bunch of pro climbers 👀 by the way, check your bloody WhatsApp! got fun plans in the making
The fact that you're so amazing at climbing and you're terrified of heights, makes me feel a bit relieved and makes me believe that I will get better at managing my fear of heights
Great film, Emil! Loved your honesty in this one, and great interactions with Bob (and everyone else, of course!). And as ever, beautifully filmed by Eric.
I've been anticipating this video since I watched this competition and saw that @EmilAbrahamsson competed in it. Mad respect for you showing us your fears and working through them. I'm very inspired by your work, your teachings, and your ambitions. Thank you for posting this video and giving us a glimpse through your eyes. Idk if I'll ever do a deep water solo, but this looked like one of the coolest comps ever. Congrats on a job well done. Cheers
great vid, got to see you filming at tch reading about a month ago whilst preping for a comp (ycs round 1) which i came 2nd in, thanks for the great video and training tips.
Sush a great video! Seen all the other videos from this competition and non of them came close to this one. Great editing, filming and story telling throughout.
Not really, he climbs a lot less then he does his storror videos, most pro climbers train for multiple hours nearly everyday, he is doing awesome. Outstanding overall athlete ❤
I'm afraid of heights too. Went to a climbing gym for the first time last month. One of the boulders had one of those protrusions from the wall so couldn't climb halfway down to jump off. I was petrified and could feel my arms getting weaker. I finally jumped after what felt like eternity. I'd think I'd be fine over the water, but it does look pretty damn high so maybe not
I'm also very scared of height's. When I try to climb huge tree's I can't go further I stop at the middle cause it's really scary but I'll try altitude course to see how it goes. BTW sorry for the late comment. Love you Emil abrahamsson. I'm glad that toby was there. As a parkour enthusiast and climber this was Soo good ❤
I see Toby, I click! Although I watch all of your videos without Toby too, so maybe I need to watch this twice to let the algorithm know I really like this stuff 🤣
I am also afraid of heights but i seek that thrill. I have a bit of a theory, i think people that have a bit of that fear and learn to overcome it likely gets a bigger adrenline rush then those who don't. in fact i think you need a little fear to drive you to keep going back. If you had no fear, you would not find it thrilling, and you would likely not find it as enjoyable. At least that's my theory. I not super duper afraid of heights but i am, but i've climbed anyway ever since i was a kid, and i love roller coasters and other things that bring back that fear. I used to work in roofing/construction and everytime i'd get on that roof it would take me 10-15 minutes to acclimate and not feel like world is spinning around me, getting back on the ladder back down is even worst for me then going up, but i dealt with it, and honestly that fear also helps keep you in check, make sure you respect the danger and make sure to stay safe.
So for people watching, if you ever jump off of a ledge like the slip he shows throughout the video into water: A: Do NOT put your arms out to your side- they're gonna slam into the water and it's not gonna feel good. Keep them flat on your body either to the side, folded over your chest, or reaching straight above your head. You want your body to be as slim/pencil-like as possible to easier break the surface tension of the water. B: Do NOT bend your legs at the hip or at the knees. I know there may be temptation to do a cannonball, but at that speed water is just going to shoot up your bum with the force of a thousand Sunny Ds and right out your mouth.
Hey Emil, idk if you'll see this comment but I'm desperately trying to find one of your videos where you showed some of your notes on paper when projecting hard boulders, do you have an idea which video it might be?
@@matschbirne5363 Also to allow the climbers to see where the water is more clearly especially when the water is still, hard to tell when you'll actually hit it
@@matschbirne5363 It has nothing to do with surface tension. Surface tension is a totally neglegible force on this scale. It is BARELY strong enough to hold up a paperclip. So what hurts when you fall on water is the water being dense and inelastic, so when you fall on it you have to displace it, accelerate it, and that way forces act on your body. The reason is what BobMarley said.
I hate how dramatic you've made DWS with your title. IMO Bouldering indoors is more dangerous than this, because you're more likely to roll an ankle, fall on your arm badly, etc.

Ooft wicked production and big ups on the feature u legend ❤

Oh, is this where Toby was when Max and Josh were getting stung by wasps in Glasgow.
This is great.
Man, I watched like six videos about this comp and your was definitely the best one. Not just a vlog of the comp days, but with a real storyline.
Haha yeah I feel a bit late to the publishing party 😅 happy you enjoyed it!
Supercool to meet you in person at the event! thanks for saying hello and the short chat, even if you were mid warm-up 😃
Any time! Hope I wasn’t panicking too hard 😅
@@EmilAbrahamsson cool, calm and collected 😁
Going in the water in rivers in the UK is more scary than climbing a wall right now.
Definitely my fave vid from this comp. Props to you and the king EK behind the camera!!!!
Great narration! Super captivating and I was so happy to see Toby in the video especially to see Toby win the comp! Great job
I got a chance to climb this wall in Montreal. It’s SO FUN and SO FRIGGIN SCARY. Happy you got to do this Emil!
The fact that you're so amazing at climbing and you're terrified of heights, makes me feel a bit relieved and makes me believe that I will get better at managing my fear of heights
Sam giving me shade 😂 (he was right though😅). Awsome video Emil!
Thanks Josh, it was nice seeing you scared senseless!
Great film, Emil! Loved your honesty in this one, and great interactions with Bob (and everyone else, of course!). And as ever, beautifully filmed by Eric.
I really wanted to try this. Clicked for Toby
Toby Segar's face in the thumbnail clever :) nice vid

Emil in the UK, yes boys!
Was a great trip, for sure going back soon!
Congrats to the editor, the look and color of the videos is perfect.
That was so fun too watch! Love the chill vibes of you all just hanging around and getting mad excited about the climb!
This is the best video about this comp. The grade doesn't matter - so cool to see you doing something scary and triumphing over it 💪
great vid, got to see you filming at tch reading about a month ago whilst preping for a comp (ycs round 1) which i came 2nd in, thanks for the great video and training tips.
Congrats mate, that’s awesome!
So proud of you for facing your fear and topping out man. That was fucking sick
Sush a great video! Seen all the other videos from this competition and non of them came close to this one. Great editing, filming and story telling throughout.
So glad to finally see your POV of this event!
Pushing through the fear of heights/falling is hard, I am working on it myself when climbing outdoors.
Great vid Emil! 😄 (And Eric, of course!😊)
I can't be sure but I think Emil is sponsored by TNF. Can't be too sure but I think he was wearing some TNF gear, maybe some socks ...
Super cool that they're doing stuff like this in London.
I didn't know.
I mean at this point toby is a professional climber aswell
Not really, he climbs a lot less then he does his storror videos, most pro climbers train for multiple hours nearly everyday, he is doing awesome. Outstanding overall athlete ❤
@@The_Average_climber "Professional" does not refer to amount of time spent.
yes pretty much

Great reunion
Great video Emil!
Best video from this event
TOBBY IS THE GOAT .....❤ IN PARKOUR AND CLIMBING TOO🎉
Hey I competed in a similar comp over here in Canada! The pressure is definitely different with no rope haha.
segar kicking ass again
Toby is a different breed
18meters is crazy
my states biggest walls are 14m
keep up the sick videos
this looks so fun but I'd be way to scared to try I'm terrified of hights and only at v4+ boulders

Holly shitI i would never! not even for ice cream
I’d love to see a collab with Wirtual (trackmania TH-camr who lives in Sweden now) and also does some climbing.
Good shit. Toby is the goat!
Came for the competition, stayed for the Sam and Josh beef 😤
Another banger video! Now the boulder Josh and Jonathan made for you makes more sense 😂
Killing it!
looking forward to your video about blocparty i copenhagen!
that top out makes me dizzy just watching yall do it
I'm an intermediate level climber and I'm terrified of heights as well.
i also considered deep water solo but then cancelled my plan because its scary and water is cold
At 1:08 I was really expecting a "because I can't swim" 😅
i think you should have titled the video "i also filmed a video at the north face competition"
Is there a video from you of this previous north face challenge/dam climbing event ?
There’s one over in Bouldering Bobat of me climbing it with Tom! I didn’t make a video from it
🗽 Climbing actually a lead route free solo looks scary to me. To fall from 15 meters is not safe!
.
I am subscribed to you and storrer
Coleman still climbs 😮!!
crazy emil!!
ross spotted! 15:43
Not enough The North Face labels on your clothes and gear 😁

Like a bunny on cocaine? LOL
Hi Eric!
I wonder who his sponsor is
Same fear index as Emil 😂
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Are you northface athlete now emil?
how tall are you
❤
Most dangerous climbing competition 😂😂😂
Grow a pair!
Does anyone know why they’re spraying a firehose into the water under the wall?
Less surface tension. Smaller risk of injury
