Man your the heat gun guru. Thanks for the video got some great tips here. Im taking my rod holders back to Wally World and making my own now. I am at the beginning of my bait tank and like the clean look so I will be working on that. I do wonder how the small hose from the output side of the bilge works. The bulbs I found have the same small in and out. I worried it would restrict to much.
Nice work. I used the smaller Vittles Vault and it's working pretty good but I plan on going for the 40 before this fishing season starts to see which I prefer. BTW I learned the hard way even when using Krylon for plastic if you rub the entire surface down with 91% rubbing alcohol before painting it will eliminate the paint flaking off. Nice job!!!
Dude this is by far the best design I’ve seen so far I’ll just have to make a few changes for this to fit my kayak but I love it and thank you for sharing!
I did two coats. I used rough scotchbrite pads to scuff the surface prior to painting and it worked ok. I also used my heat gun to heat up the plastic quite a bit. This helps evaporate a lot of the chemical in HDPE plastic that keeps paint from sticking. Then clean well with 75% alcohol prior to painting. There is a paint adhesion promoter that they sell at auto stores just for plastic but I've never used it.
Looks great and great video. Just bought a kayak and will be starting the build this weekend. So I'm sure I'll be back with some questions and to review. Thanks again to MO and Halibu77
awesome video! Do you have a timer circuit? I hear that is key to a nice long battery life. 7 sec ON, 14 sec OFF. The outflow drains look a bit small. I've read that these tanks have problems because they overfill the tank faster than they can drain? Really nice video.. everything I need to know. What size Vittles Vault? Thanks again.
I had a few questions so the small hooks for the paracord (not Sur ewhat their called) where did you get them? also the valve check for the bulb? did it come with the bulb. I'm trying to get all my supplies ready to make this build similar to yours. thanks!
I have one question: how does your bait hold up? Years ago when I bought a 55 gal. live bait tank for my center console sport fisher (SeaCraft) all of the tank builders emphasized round insides with no obstructions to reduce the damage that the bait will do to itself in the tank. I love this idea, but have some concerns as to whether all of the fittings & nuts will damage the bait.
+Lewis Shanks I am by no means an expert, but the major difference for a kayak live well and one for a regular boat is the "pounding" the bait will take at speed in the regular boat. Your SeaCraft cruising at 30-35 mph in a chop puts a lot more stress on the bait than a kayak ever will at 4-5 mph. I do agree that the obstructions (rivets & bolts) may cause a problem in very choppy water but I don't think the bait will be thrown around too much in normal conditions.
bit more effort than you needed on the drain side. Could've just used the lower drain and used various lengths of tube on top of it. A 5" tube added to the lower drain hole would've given you 5" more water. Good videos but a bit repetitive on the explanations.
That is nicely done. I like how you utilise your scupper holes for your water intake and outflow. Thanks for sharing.
Better than spending 450 on a hobie livewell. Great job!

Great video i see its been a while since your last video. How has the livewell been working? Any issues or feedback. Thinking about building one
Brilliant!
Awesome rig man super clean. Just one question. Does the Johnson pump overheat being that it's not in water?
Great Job. Thanks for making a video on this...

How many coats did you add on it and did you have any problems with the paint staying on
Dude ima build this one for my 26 foot boat.
where did you get the tank you used
What size Vittle Vault did you use? Great ideas from video. Thanks for posting
scott smolik 40 lb vittle vault
I just switch it on and off manually. Never had any issue with overfill with this particular design. 40 lb Vittle Vault.
Looks great and great video. Just bought a kayak and will be starting the build this weekend. So I'm sure I'll be back with some questions and to review. Thanks again to MO and Halibu77
Beautiful CLEAN work....love a good craftsman...................JRW
Big fan of your work. Question how did you put a rivet on the bottom side of your PVC? Is there a special tool?
What did you use to paint the pvc

Love the video. Where did you buy the check valve on the suction side of your pump? I've check Home Depot and Lowes with no luck.
Any chance for a parts list with links? Pretty Please? :)
sales_share workgroup_user Sorry I no longer have this kayak. I've done so many builds since then, I can't remember all of the parts in it.
I have a prowler 13 and I need you to make this for me lol, awesome awesome build man

Thanks - great point. I appreciate the comments.
very neat fabrication
Where did you say you purchased The container in the first video and how much was it if you don't mind me asking? Thanks
Yo.....go into production....good work.....I hope u don't mind I copy some of that design...thanks for ur video big help
What type of paint did you use to match your kayak and where did you buy it from?
Rustoleum Specialty Camouflage #1917 Khaki. You can get it at Lowe's or Walmart.
at what degrees did you set your heat gun to soften the Vittles Vault?
Love it! I may have to see if this will work with my F&S Eagle Talon. One question...do you run a full size battery or a smaller rechargeable 12v?
jcostin74 Small 6 volt.
Nice work! Does it keep pilchards alive ok? Or do you use it for shrimp only?
Pet Smart. It's a Vittle Vault 40 lb dog food container.
Ok thanks for the info it really helped
Build me one:) how much?
All questions are welcome. Thanks James!
