0:08 a great way of silencing my opposition.
      0:36 damn correct!
0:59 think about that the next time you get angry. Then, apply it in practice.
1:06 well, this only starts making sense if there is the possibility of choosing all the options.
1:15 now this one's gotta be my favourite one so far. I especially like the implications of it. Wait... nevermind. Since it advises someone to act only when others deserve it, the proverb and its implications can be swiftly dismissed by claiming that those in need are simply unworthy of the good or even claiming that it is righteous to withdraw good from them. Kudos to the man who put in the back door.
1:24 well yes but people re-phrase it as "As I see him, so he is in his heart" and thus all sorts of injustice and evil become justified.
1:31 who calls a costly habit a hobby?
1:49 this one is from the times of "Socialism" when everyone was afraid of the secret police and civillian snitches.
2:06 If we said that the top 50% are the best and the bottom 50% are the worst, whatever is at the bottom of the top half will always be above the top of the bottom half. Even if this was meant like "better be a wealthy peasant than a poor lord", this doesn't hold up because the beter option can't come from among the worst options. If we designate being a wealthy peasant as good and being a poor lord as bad, then the former is clearly put among the best options while the latter is put among the worst options.
2:13 many people wish to be shielded from the honest slaps and instead want to live only with insincere kisses being present. This has made its way into the community guidlines of pretty much all social media and even into the legislations of countries. It also is a part of many, if not all, religions.
2:54 but what about 2:13? Which proverb takes precedence? As Osho put it, "if there are blind people, should I live with a blindfold?"
3:03 it most certainly will not. Although it could be bent to fit reality more precisely.
3:09 yes but you'll be rewarded only by those who consider your family worthy and your path virtuous.
3:18 any tips on how to spot such a person? Any tips on how not to misidentify innocent people as such?
3:33 the best "excuse" is to state what determins your unwillingness. Your wants don't appear out of nowhere without valid causes.
3:48 what about the cases where the good preceeds the bad?
4:04 you can force others to lend you money and there's someone who's trying to force people into loving him by commanding them to do so and promissing punishment to those who refuse.
4:40 I thought many were complaining about the lack of brains when complaining about our collective stupidity.
4:55 God gave me hearing that's weaker than my voice, so I should talk rather than listen. God gave man his undefeatable susceptability to temptation, so fall victim to temptation and make sure to sin regularly. God gave us two ears so we may be aware of what direction the sound comes from, so ignore that fact and replace it with something stupid.
5:05 Spot on! But, hadn't you gone to sleep early, you'd not have the need to get up early.
5:27 provided that what you're adding to is indeed the truth in its full glory. Nobody can guarantee that whatever you're dealing with is pure truth that lacks nothing and needs nothing to be added.
5:44 how can anyone be so sure about that? Maybe the only way you remain enemies is because you maintain that he's an enemy.
5:53 if you don't forget and your psychological and physiological state regarding the issue remain constant, then you can wait all you want. When will antisemitism be cured away? A healer who takes millenia to heal something isn't particularly great. Simply doing your job reliably doesn't mean you're the best as it doesn't automatically rule out the possibility of someone doing your job both reliably and more quickly. Moreover, don't attribue to time what time doesn't do but merely enables. The state enables hospitals but nobody would say that the state is a great doctor.
6:06 you need wealth to be rich. If wealth runs after the rich, then who does it run after if nobody gets rich until wealth catches them? If you're rich without wealth (physical or spiritual), then on what basis can you be considered rich? The same goes for poverty.
6:20 no you ain't. Others are merely more willing to say such lies to you if faced with the prospect of taking away some of your money as a reward for their fakeness. Those who have money in their pocket but refuse to give it away can be wise, funny, handsome or talented but to all others they're just stingy

@@tenpotkan7051 You are truly a man of many opinions. It would be more practical to quote the original quotes again rather than to list video times, since it is unrealistic to imagine that many people will replay the whole video to see the specific quotes to which you refer.
I think you are mistaken to simply equate "secret police" with "socialism". I assure you that many governments that embraced robber-baron capitalism have had secret police and death squads that were as bad or worse. As a matter of fact, socialism-bashing is a game often practiced and encouraged in the public mind for the very purpose of protecting the fat of society's fattest cats.
Albert Einstein was a Jewish man who, because of his legendary bright mind is often claimed by opposing ideological camps, such as atheists and religionists. He was produced one small book of purely social commentary, unrelated to physics. In that book. he unambiguously referred to Marx as a Jew who was a humanist that made positive contribution to society. So he had a kind word for Marxism, much less socialism. I imagine in later years he might have been disappointed with the repressive excesses produced by Marxism, but I think that he say what he said because he saw that Marx was someone truly concerned for the plight of underpaid, exploited workers, far more honestly than the lip service ever given to them by socialist-bashing wealthy interests.

      @tenpotkan7051 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@tom-kz9pb You can click on the time stamps and it will automatically set the video to that time and play it. I know this works at least on PC. You don't even have to listen to it, you can simply read it off the screen. I also just copy-pasted my standalone comment as a reply to your comment, so that's where the timestamps come from.
I don't equate secret police to Socialism in any way. I come from a post-socialist country so, culturally, snitching and secret police links to the past regime for me. Someone living in the society you've provided as an example would associate secret police with the respective authority in his society. Here, Socialism-bashing is a game most practiced by the moderate left who overthrew the Socialist regime. I put the word Socialism into qoutes because I couldn't proclaim with a pure conscience that regime to be true Socialism. In fact, I don't believe anyone has ever, or will ever, achieve Socialism on a meaningful scale. Every time someone manages to fuck up somewhere and the result becomes more of a reflection of what it was meant to replace than what it is labeled as.
We don't do what is right but what we each believe to be right. Perhaps Marx wanted us to exterminate the poorest of the poor because he genuinly thought it served a greater good or that it was otherwise necessary. The same would go for the rich denying help to the poor. But one thing is for sure - if someone's "help" can't get you out of your poverty and instead welfare becomes essential for your survival, that's not help, that's making you dependant. Whatever shakes the state shakes you and if the state goes down, you go down with it. This clearly is an unfavourable situation. And then the current system gets "justified" by saying that if it was dismantled, those who depend on it will loose everything. But it's not essential for survival of the poor by default, it's like that by design and that design can be changed so that it gives people what they need to be free instead of giving them whyt they need to need the system. Real help is about making people no longer need your help.

    • @tom-kz9pb
      @tom-kz9pb 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@tenpotkan7051 Thanks for the tip about tapping the timestamp, that works,
Socialism covers a broad range of poxsible degrees and arrangements, so I don't think one can generalize about its chances for success. It doesn't occur to a lot of my fellow Americans who are conservative that the America already has elements of what could be called "socialism", and these are mostly things that they approve, like Social Security. minimum wage, or anti-trust laws to break up monopolies that otherwise would have consumers at their mercy.
Part of what I consider to be socialism-bashing is the notion skillfully planted in the public mind that socialism is all about taking their hard-earned money a giving it to lazy, undeserving people. The former, in their minds, typically meaning "white" and the latter meaning "non-white". The Marxists, though, were hardly the champions of welfare cheats. These were the people with calluses on their hands, who slaved away in the factories, and the peasants who could barely survive toiling in the fields, with lives of grueling work largely unknown to comparatively well-off but still-complaining Americans, I doubt that these elements would have had much more sympathy for lazy shirkers getting a free ride, than for the wealthy robber-barons who treated them as so many farm animals and pieces of factory equipment.
I am not, by the way, a disgruntled low-wage worker, but would be in the top 3% according to one online evaluation, so am not speaking in self-interest, but just being honest. I would almost surely have less in a purely socialist country. I am just not willing to throw unskilled workers under the bus in order to enjoy a higher living standard. I certainly would be enforcing a work ethic, just trying to make sure that all forms of work had some dignity and decent living sfandard.

@@Hamanito Now this is exactly the kind of conversation that will hold my attention. Yes, deep down we know we want to take the path that creates the least friction with others and offers the biggest benefits for all involved. Buddhism and Taoism both embodied that concept of balance, yet fell under the overreaches and greed of men in power. Observably, man as a whole wants continued growth and graces, it is noteworthy however that the failing and distortion comes from those who reach the pinnacle of success. I like to believe that is why these old phrases have hold and bite, that things were not so different then as they are now.
Are you familiar with Cicero? He's a personal favorite lol.
Here, just throw this on the pile, it's had me laughing a lot. "There is no cause so noble, that it won't attract fckheads," lol.

@@Hamanito The only way they passed the test of time is that nobody questioned them. Most people assume that a proverb has to have some wisedom or truth to it and they're willing to go to great lenghts in order to find wisedom even in the most retarded of proverbs. When trying to prove whether a proverb is good or not, people focus only on the times it yields an outcome that confirms their expectations. If they notice unfavourable outcomes, they come up with exceptions where the proverb doesn't work and when they're about to apply the proverb in the next situation, they don't first stop to consider if that situation will or will not be one of those exceptions, they always proceed assuming it won't be. Proverbs are regarded as wise until proven wise.

Our six sense is flawed, our education is manipulated, and it needs a keen person to look for what is true and what is the best to do in different situations. It comes with years of observing, active listening, learning, experience, and right company. All criminals and dictators are guided by their narcissistic inner-self guide. A diamond in the rough is not easy to find. Just a look at people around you can convince you.
