RIP Trevor. We love you and we will miss you everyday. Thank you for putting out great music for us fans. We will never forget you brother. ❤️😞
no way :O
Jamais mesmo😢
We love you Trevor. We will never fucking forget you and the incredible art that you were able to grace us with. I aspire to have the level of humility, passion, fun and energy that I saw you with on stage every time I went to a BDM show. Such a genuine and nice dude. Your inspiration and legacy will live eternally within us all. Legends never fucking die.
Man this my generations maiden. This to me was the band that took the torch from the old guard of American thrash and death metal. Paid ultimate homage to both genres and even paid the utmost respect to metal in general. Trevor was a beast of a man the likes of which I've only seen a handful of times. To me he's right up there with dio and lemmy. I told my brother a last year that Trevor was our dio. A goof ball who loved heavy metal and wizards. An everyman. This band has been there for me through so much I wish I could've been there for Trevor. Rip bro we will miss you sorely.
Wow man great comment! well said and a powerful statement that is very fitting. Very few are able to cross the thresholds into the land of metal royalty as well as bridge the generational gap between different eras and styles. Trevor as well as TBDM have definitely earned a seat at the table with the all the heros and legends of the music we love so much. 100% certified death metal royalty. I also have to say that Trevor was in a league of his own with his lyrics. Death metals equivalent to Shakespeare or any of the truly revered and studied poets/writers.
@@k7j007 yes he's literally a death metal Neil Peart. The eloquence, the vocabulary, the creativity, and the vision. Not just to write great lyrics but to create a story and atmosphere that has been so long gone from metal and added a whole new level to death metal lyrics. Such a huge loss I hadn't cried in a long time. But I feel like crying every time I think of our brother Trevor.
Man all I can say is that was very well said ❤
Not to mention being the American equivalent to AT THE GATES and CARCASS pioneers of melodic death metal.
The band that started it all for me...RIP Trevor, legends never die...
..If Trevor could only imagine how many people admired him throughout the world and all the pain he left behind ... RIP
Trevor bumping into Brian, Brian trying not to laugh, during Brandon's solo. The best.
that what you just said is one of my favorite moments to ever exist
Good catch! :D
Still want to meet them so bad!
I love the little dance trevor did right after he bumped into brian. Like how can you not love that
My dad is a grammy winning country guitar player. I grew up on TBDM, among a lot of other bands in the 2000's, and as a result have been a metal lead player since my mid teens. We've always had differences when it came to guitar players and who we thought was "that guy" on any given week. I'm 30 now, and I went to visit the old man and I showed him Brandon Ellis. All he could say is "this guy has mastered this sound, he's perfect for this kind of music". He wasn't saying that to put Brandon in a box. What he was really getting at was that Brandon really opened a door to my dad as far as appreciating extreme metal. It's a door I have tried to open since I was like 12 years old. What an incredible player.
That's amazing
What’s your dads name. I’m a big metal and county fan and would like to listen to his music
His solo in this song is absolutely incredible. Every time this song plays I listen to the solo on repeat. It's phenomenal.
@@Essyton85 Trevor's vocals are haunting as well, his line after the solo ends gives me chills. Same with how he introduces the guitar solo in this song
What, specifically, did you show your dad?
The world will miss you Trevor. Your shoes will be nearly impossible to fill and the metal community will forever mourn the loss of a true teddy bear to the death metal community. Rest in Power!!!!! I was truly blessed to see them live with that lovable metal fanatic and legend!!!! Legends never die
They'll definitely never find another lyricist as gifted as him. Gone way too soon.
Why does everyone keep saying death metal. This is not death metal. Sounds like metal core to me. MAYBE deathcore. Maybe. Immolation, incantation, bloodbath. That's death metal. This is definitely not even close.
@@johnwalter6410 ok
@@johnwalter6410 uh
@@johnwalter6410 They have a pretty diverse discography, verminous from the album with the same name is some sick melodeath for example. A bit thrashy I guess? Maybe you should have posted this somewhere else though, out of respect for the recently deceased vocalist?
Black Dahlia Murder has been my favorite metal band since middle school, and they're still going strong!
@Danny
What, after a decade of exploring all the metal sub genres I could listen to, it's weird to find Black Dahlia Murder to be the most comfortable to call favorite?
Out of curiosity, what's your favorite metal band?
@Danny
Well that sucks, it's nice to have a favorite band you can default to.
Honestly, I consider a band to be a favorite when I can most confidently say they're my favorite. There are many other metal bands that could fight for best, but I feel the least conflicted when I call Black Dahlia Murder my favorite, so there you go.
They have always stayed true to themselves. \m/
@Danny
What bands do you consider your top? Just wondering.
@@Ghost-tb8ip
True!
Brandon's solo in this song is easily one of my favourites of the last decade of metal
Everytime I hear the solo it makes me think of Trevor because this was probably the most meaningful solo they ever wrote and one of my favs forsure
RIP Trevor Strnad. The best to ever do it. Blast Fiend for life.
3:21 When Trevor bumped into Brian and goes "oh.. sorry" and Brian just smirks and carries on. That was so purely TBDM and how they carry themselves to the community. They don't take themselves so seriously that they HAD to edit that out like a lot of bands would have. Just amazing, down to earth dudes making the best metal you can get your hands on.
Voice deterioration :
Other artist/vocalist : Gotta protect them cords
Black Dahlia Murder : Est. since 2001.
If you have good technique from the beginning your vocals really won’t change their sound at all over time
Other vocalists are clowns
Theres a technique used that doesnt damage vocal chords - hence the same sound fir 29 years. Check out Ben Nichols from Lucero. Start at his early stuff in the 90s, and then compare it to today. He sings about his broken vocal chords and you can hear their decline over the years. Dude can barely sustain a note these days haha. but i love him 🤘🏼
I feel like this is the best Dahlia has ever sounded with the best line up of guys they’ve ever had. The more I listen to verminous the more I realize it’s their best work.
Nightbringers and Nocturnal still top the list for me, but Verminous is a damn good album
I feel like Jack Black could play Trevor if they ever wanted to do a parody video of themselves
David anthony Higgins could do it too. He played Craig on Malcolm in the Middle
He could probably do some of the vocals even.
unfortunately he shaved his head and beard
Haha especially for this video!
Please make this happen :D
Brandon Ellis is the best metal guitarist on the planet right now. Beast. Pure beast.
This lineup is going to last a long time too. We’re lucky to witness one of the greatest metal bands at their peak! Alan Blastidy is a god among men.
I got high with Alan after their show in Odessa, Texas about a year ago. They opened for BLS. My brother and I drove from Ft. Worth bc that was the closest city on that tour. Totally worth the drive. We only met Alan and Trevor, but still....I got high with Alan! Lol
@@boofert.washington2499 I love your username lol
The kid has green drums! Fucking awesome!
for me the peak was miasma and nocturnal. fucking loved the energy back then I cannot skip a single song in those albums. First album is really good too but feel like miasma and nocturnal really defined their sound.
😔
I love the extreme metal community. TBDM is getting older, fatter, losing hair and everyone's just like "THATS METAL AF"
I need this positivity.
metal gods...
Losing hair?
@@jasonrosler Brian at 3:13
@@berserkr4782 that's probably why they all let them grow now..
The older Trevor and Brian get, the younger their drummers get. Metal!
I love that Brian gets into his vocal parts so passionately.
Still the best vocals second only to Mitch. R.I.P
Also gotta bring up Phil Bozeman obviously and whoever the fuck the front man of Infant Annihilator is.
Sad day :( Saw these guys totally unknowingly, and they just welcomed me in with good tunes, and awesome stage presence. Feel bad for all in the band. Trevor was so cool.
Still can't put into words how much this band just dragged me through my darkest times. To this day I keep the copy of the Majesty DVD on my hard drive. Everytime everything was just black in my life I used to watch their tour documentary and felt like seeing a beacon of light. Struggling also with all this dark shit I wish I could had the chance to talk to Trevor. Just some beers and opening up about all of this dark stuff. Forever I will be thankful. I wish all his bandmates, family and friends just the best. I am so sorry for the loss of Trevor.
Trevor kinda sounds like Zetro from Exodus in this video. Love the lighting of this too. 🤘🏻
Agree with you
I get dani filth vibes on this verminous album from Papa Trevor. Especially with this song and Wereworms Feast
Thats exactly what I was thinking. One of my favorite thrash metal bands too.🤟
My thought exactly
6 strings still be heavy af I appreciate this , in a sea of 7-8 string bdm still throwing down some licks
more strings doesn't equal heavy, which I think a lot of people fail to realize. fucking derping around in low ass tunings is just annoying IMO... and I'm in a band that plays in A# standard with 6 strings
@@blgdinger3 exactly i have a 7 string that is tuned to drop g and I personally think the top 6 strings sound heavier in c standard
Church architecture is so perfect.
Sounds just like the album! Unreal precision. That solo is unreal. Everything is just so damn tight. The mix is perfect. This is why they are legends. Just listen to the level of slayedge. Their throne of skulls was built to last!
fk yea!
No I totally agree Black Dahlia murder is strong as f*** but am I wrong to have noticed some wonky vocals ?
@@danathanaurelius4685 Yes you are but that's okay :)
Sounds much better than album
Rest in peace Trevor. You definitely made my life better and thank you so much for that.
Was lucky enough to see these guys live in March, and they play and sound so damn good live, definitely one of the best live sounding bands out there!
I saw em open for corpse when I was 13. Had no idea they'd be onr of my favorite metal bands ever then. I've seen em a handful of times in smaller clubs and they are the most fun shows I've ever been to.
A little late and I hope it wasn't already said but can we appreciate how awesome it was that someone from the Church said, "okay" to this? Thanks to whomever helped make this happen.
R.I.P I stay coming back to just hear them play together.
I didn't even realize this was live till it was almost over... thats how good these dudes are.
Trevs screams sound pretty hardcore sometimes. I'm here for it. This song is so evil
Eschbach is the man! Been bringing the heavyness for 20 years and counting! Trevor is the most solid front man ever! Been with you boys since closed casket requiem and pre unhallowed!
This is one of the absolute greatest guitar solos in guitar history and not nearly enough people will ever know that.
That Emperor shirt tells me everything i want to know about this band. Skill recognizes skill.
I love that this dvd has become a yearly thing in my household, the world isn’t the same without you Trevor 🖤 we miss you so much man
God bless this man in heaven my friend he was the biggest inspiration of all rest in peace bro
No matter how many times I watch him play I’m just blown away by Brandon’s work. So damn precise!
so sad man , RIP Trevor. seemed like such a cool dude😰 I've been blasting BDM since Miasma and every record after it. Feels like I've lost a good friend.
Max too! he played bass on unhallowed
Max’s first record was Everblack. Brain has been in since the beginning with Trevor though. Nonetheless, the world lost a legend but not his legacy. Can’t wait to hear Brain on the upcoming material, I’m just stoked they are back in action. It’s what Trevor would want!
I will miss you forever my friend; almost 20 years of good times even when the light wasn’t there. Always a legend, always a force. It still doesn’t feel real. I will walk with you again…
Brandon’s solo is the sheeeeeeit 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
He is so fucking talented its god awful! this solo always gives me chills
@@sebbimon I can't wait to see it performed live🎸 when they tour in Sept🤘👿
We love and miss you Trevor.
Brandon Ellis, the best guitarist this band has had. His soloing style is so fitting with this band. 80s style shred but in modern metal context, bad ass!
I really like him a lot, but something about Ryan Knights style i just preferred. I wish he would have worked out.
@@oneal3902 Yeah agreed. Ellis is a shredder no doubt but I find that style boring. Knight had a more unique style.
I have no real preference between Ryan and Brandon, two different styles that are both great. Ryan's was a bit more fluid and tasteful, while Brandon's is a bit more over the top, 80s style like you said. They both fit the music great in my opinion.
@@EvolutionIX219 Knight was very Arsis sounding. Really dig the stuff Brandon is bringing to the table. We have the Ryan Knight sounding stuff already. Now we get something new with Brandon. It all slays.
Knight is a great player but he's objectively nowhere near Brandon in terms of technical skill. Brandon's Vibrato is the best in the game.
This band never lets its fans down. Not for one single song. It's incredible
That was the most beautiful solo ever
Im totally Crushed of the passing of Trevor. Trevor, I hope you know how much you were loved from all over World. RIP Trevor 🖤
That’s when you know a church is hurtin’ for cash.
“The atheist metal band will pay us to just use the place? I mean the lord does work in “mysterious ways” so sure.”
I thought the same thing.
😂 $$$
HAHAHAHAHA, comment nearly killed me bro
The Black Dahlia Murder isn't obnoxious with their beliefs and their lyrics are more theatrical than politically or religiously motivated.
Lots of churches are like people's first venue they play at, one of the local churches by me has bands play sometimes before covid
thank you for putting together Black Dhalia, for having moved me in happy moments and for giving me encouragement in sad moments when listening to your music. Rest in peace Trevor
I would definitely come to this church every day if BDM would play there ;)
This reminds me of the song from Municipal Waste "Upside down Church"
Just went and saw them without Trevor and my God this song had me in tears. RIP Trevor! 😭🤘
So amazing it is hard to tell the difference from the album version. At first I thought they were just playing the studio recording but heard the nuances of live playing. This is perfect! That's the cool thing when comparing Verminous to other albums it is very natural for live settings. Very feel oriented and jammy. Great band!
This band bacame better and better with every members change... All albums are amazing and every member droped their DNA in every album and songs... Thanks for be part of this planet my friends!
Neil Hamburger/Gregg Turkington AND The Black Dahlia Murder?? How could it possibly get better than this 🤩 amazing performance
Every year from now on on December 20th I'm just gonna celebrate Black Dahlia Christmas by blaring their music all day.
The fact that they did this in a church makes me so happy
I wonder how they got the permission to play there.

I'm just grateful that i met him the times i did, and I'll always remember the conversations with him and how he always treated me like an equal to him, and like a friend. We love you papa trev
Wow, that solo...damn!
Never been more crushed by a musician dying. Trev, we fucking miss you man. I'm glad you're free of your demons. Hope the band is okay. Rest in power.
I didnt watch this enough while i could.
God damn i hope they release this on fucking DVD/bluray. Some of preformances were un fucking real.

My favorite band in the metal world.
What a monstrous sound. Beautiful bassline, and Brandon Ellis SHREDDING as usual.
Love this band!
I said it before, and I'll say it again- Neil Hamburger is the best Metal announcer since Sleazy P.
Neil Hamburger is the greatest of all time!!! Gregghead for life
You can hear Trevor's singing voice under the screaming here. RIP you bright star.
LONG HAIR BRIAN IS BACK BAYBBEEEEE!! TIME TO SHRED
Almost
He's doing his best to hide that massive bald patch.
Fuck yea Ill star jamming them again if he's growing his hair back out
I feel like he's gradually transforming into Max Cavalera

This is so crushing. He was so kind, fun, and entertaining. I’m in disbelief...my condolences to everyone around him.
My heart has melted hearing this guitar solo along with the news that Trevor has died... Rest In Power!!!
RIP Trevor. You're the only musician I ever truly wanted to meet, and watch perform live. You helped me through shitty days in high-school and after, and inspired me to learn to scream. I hope I get to see you on the other side some day, and we'll get to talk music and horror!
Another unreal solo from Brandon...never let him out guys
I was on my way to see Cradle of Filth the day Trevor passed, and it still hurts. To me, as a long time metalhead of over 30 years, this song still gypes me up and induces tears too.
That’s my favorite solo in all of metal outside of something by Scar Symmetry. Love TBDM!!!
Rip Trevor. Thank you for the hours and hours entertainment you provided, and your kindness will live on.
you guys need to release this next winter or something being a super fan of y'all for the past 14 years I would have paid to see this in fact I got the day off the of work weeks in advance but I had an infection in my skull and had to be hospitalized for 2 weeks and I missed it!
I miss you brother like no other rest in peace friend 😊
L'oreal should sponsor this band
Only Brandon has commercial worthy hair
Maybe its Maybelline

This show seriously needs to be put on DVD or on demand where we can buy it and watch it anytime absolutely amazing show
Easily the best solo of 2020. Maybe TBDM history. It's funny, at 3:23 Trevor bumps into Brian and is like, that kid is good.
In TBDM history the whole history. Chill dude
You are a really important part of my life since I was a child... Dam broh! It feels like I lost a brother, I'm really really bad now so... I just can't believe this... Love you so dam much. Rest in peace broh,
Brandon is playing a different kelly than his custom one, I feel like this could be a prototype for a signature model
Isn't that the same kelly he has had for a while already
@@MegaJiiRo
Nope, his custom kelly has a much smaller crackle finish, a chrome hantug bridge, luminlays, etc...
This one has perloid inlays, and no "made in usa/custom shop" mention on the headstock, which makes me believe it is an import model of a coming-soon signature. That's just a theory, but I prepare myself to buy one if it happens !
Would buy if it is one
Better not be a signature. No ona gonna buy that cheese stick.
If he releases one I'm all over that. Exactly what I want in a guitar
Oh MAN!!!! The sound inside the church!!!!! GREAT JOB TREVOR AND CREW!!!!!!
So many sick things about this, but too much to type. Also, shoutout to whoever mixed this, sounds great
