    I've just been watching your channel out of curiosity after the sad news of Chadwick Boseman - thankfully I don't need or know anyone who has to go through this, but I feel so much more enlightened by watching your videos of your experiences. I'm glad you're doing much better, and thanks for the taking the time to shine awareness on such a topic.

      Chadwick Boseman’s diagnosis was so unfortunate, and he has so much respect from me for being able to continue to make movies throughout treatments and surgeries without anyone knowing what he was going through. My hope is that even more people like yourself will learn about colorectal cancer, it’s symptoms, and that more and more young people are getting it, and hopefully this will save many lives 💙

    Good God... I'll be having this same exact surgery soon (with 2nd surgery for reconnection after healing period) and I'm more scared than ever. I can see now why some people decline the surgery (even tho the doctors say it is lifesaving). I insisted on having all my treatments up front (chemoradiation, then Folfox chemo) hoping that it would eliminate the cancer and surgery would be unnecessary. Just found out today that my biopsies are still coming back malignant and they want to do surgery asap. I don't know how I will survive this, both physically and financially 😢 But thanks so much for sharing about it all. I'm super happy for you that you are recovered, strong, and healthy.

    This reminds me of my hospital stay, I don't miss it. Especially the bowel prep at the hospital.

    • @SurvivorJelena
      @SurvivorJelena  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bowel prep is rough enough at home, I can’t imagine having to do that in a hospital 😔

    i had shoulder pain, Dr told me that i was tilted on the Operation table and was resting on the shoulder , so they can work on the lifted abdomen, for anastomis

    • @SurvivorJelena
      @SurvivorJelena  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That makes sense. Since you’re asleep they can’t ask you if it’s a comfortable position, then you just wake up sore.

    Jelena I had stage two rectum cancer went through chemo and radiation, surgery now I'm in recovery I'm having diarrhea after surgery since November 11 still having loose stools is that normal is that normal.

    • @SurvivorJelena
      @SurvivorJelena  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would ask your surgeon if they think it’s normal to be happening this far out from surgery.

  • @KaraLey98

    Wow, I never knew that an ostomy originates from the small intestine. Does that mean that you get less nutrition from the food you eat? My mother had one of those about 30 years ago after her surgery which was probably similar to yours.

    • @SurvivorJelena
      @SurvivorJelena  ปีที่แล้ว

      An ileostomy is from the small intestine and a colostomy is from the large intestine. Yes, you do get less nutrition from the foods you eat and you can dehydrate more easily with an ileostomy.

    Hi there I have a few questions for you if your at stage one does it spread fast

    • @SurvivorJelena
      @SurvivorJelena  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends. Generally, it grows slowly which is why once you hit the screening age you only need a colonoscopy every 10 years. But as more younger people are being diagnosed with cancer it is behaving a little differently and growing faster.

    • @alonelycreature1462
      @alonelycreature1462 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for replying back I have some of the symptoms I have been constipated now for 3 weeks my bowel habits has change in the very beginning when it started a whole bunch of mucus came out with this two little spots of blood came outwas at the ER they've done a CT scan and said if they would have to diagnose me they said they're they don't see anything there is no stage

    • @alonelycreature1462

      Is there any other disease that acts like bowel cancer that does all the same symptoms

    • @alonelycreature1462
      @alonelycreature1462 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am so scared because if I am at stage one my survival rates is only 5 years I am only 39 years old and I have five kids
