I'll never forget the double doink heard around the world. Still kills me
I still have nightmares and flash backs of the Double doink
The short answer is yes. Yes it’s worth trading a first for Crosby or Garrett.
Why. Because you’re getting an asset this year. Maybe not to win a Super Bowl yet but to completely change the culture of the team so that that can be real players in years 2-4 of Caleb’s rookie deal.
If you trade for either player you’re getting 2-3 years of them on their current deal and their incumbent team is eating a lot of the cost. Meaning you’re getting a better value in acquiring that player because you’re getting a sure thing for a similar length of time vs a first rounder for only like 5-7 mil more per year. These guys are top 5 pass rushers. Not projects. Plus both those guys are still most likely gonna be elite going into their next contract. So it’s a good investment now and 4-6 years from now.
You could go after Travon Walker too for probably much cheaper cost. But the issue is this. You’ll have to pay him next year and ironically enough he’ll cost you more after his extension vs Crosby or Garrett because you’re not paying their bonuses. Their old teams would be.
Yes they need offensive line help. But here’s the issue. No team is gonna trade you a lineman’s who’s actually worth a 1st this year. Teams just don’t trade linemen like that.
So you’re not getting help this year. And even so you’re probably not going to have access to the best linemen in the draft because the bears look like they ll be picking in the 20s. At worst late teens. All those guys will be gone.
So you’re better off using a first to get a premium pass rusher now. Build a stable of sweat, Garrett/ Crosby, Booker, and Walker. Have an insane defense for the next 3-4 years.
And then in the draft use your 2 2nds and 3rd to draft the best linemen. Probably best bet is interior linemen since those guys are using the best value at those spots since teams prioritize tackles in the first.
Use free agency to address whatever you can line wise as well. If a 7/10 lineman is available pay up.
And the hidden benefit is this. Detroit probably gonna need in the market for one of these guys too at edge. If you acquire one and they don’t you’re getting extra value from playing keep away. The last thing you want is Crosby or Garrett steamrolling the bears line when the division games come up.
We have a dynasty situation with Caleb if we manage cap and draft capital properly
I think it’s simple. You have to look at the rest of our division now vs next year. If we are for sure not winning this season, then we stock pile and develop and wait to strike when the irons hot.
Use nexts years first rd pick on the best OT avaliable and 2nd rd pick on the best C available. Austin Booker might be our next edge rusher after a year of development.. really don't want to trade the future now. Next year would be better to do something like this.
Finding a disgruntled offensive line is the old Bears talking
Pat I said "THREE FREAKIN YEARS AGO" Billy was a problem and I was told "I DIDN'T KNOW BALL" look at the bulls now lmaoooo
Our offense line is the big question
When are we going to give the offense the same weight as we do the defense? Im tired of hearing I know this defense is great but imagine how good it will be by adding (insert player). I'd rather hear imagine what our offense could be if we added (insert player). No trading first and second round picks this year unless it makes the OFFENSE better.
If our offense was good enough I’d say do it, but we need to see our offense win this year against top 10 defenses before we trade for Max or Miles
For the people who say no and that the Bears aren’t in a “win now” mode that’s a lie. The Bears window with Caleb on his rookie contract is only 2 1/2 years he’s going to want to be paid before he even starts his 4th season same as Burrow, Allen, Lawrence etc etc. This window is so small they can’t waste it on drafting & starting rookie OL it would be malpractice to put more then 1 rookie on the starting OL they need proven vets at 4 out of 5 spots and then draft a rookie at G. Make that DE trade to complete that defense it’s that simple so you can focus solely on the OL in the off-season. Once they do that then later in the draft you take chances on guys so you can develop behind your veterans so when the vets get old you can just replace them and repeat the cycle. Poles has an eye for drafting OL he drafted Braxton in the 5th round and if you go back and look at his draft class he’s the 2nd best LT in that entire class.
SO is the Oline fixed with 1 player??? no , right, so it really don't matter. would one of these 2 make the strong defence stronger?? yes, ok whats wrong then. cause we haven't seen the trade or contract to that trade.
Those shades are tight jc.. oooor get Crosby an change the game fuck the picks lol
I wouldn’t make any trades this year unless we are unloading Davis, VJ and and Homer
Stand pat - hold firm, stand fast or stand firm. Just saying
We get it , it’s a Joke dawg lol
And we won’t know this until week 11
Sign maybe a depth RB and ride it out to the end of the season. THEN go stomp on necks in the draft and THAT offseason. Much better talent available then.
I can tell you one stat that is 100% true. No rookie QB has ever won the SB
UNTIL NOW!
Trade Baigent, Hurbert, 2026 1st for Crosby. Something where you move depth pieces for Crosby would be a trade I would like. This would make some sense since Raiders have Getsy and Hurburt plus Baigent both looked good in that offense. we would get a steal on a trade like this so probably wouldnt happen but can at least help then with rebuild
you dont get it, off season you pick Oline, in season you get defence. if you use you 2nd rounder, you have to use it cant save it for next year AND hit AND DEVELOP, and have a FRee top oline to draft
and do you know why is defence mid season and offence offseason, cause all the teams , that have lost and decided to tank, will release there defence players now more easy as they wanna keep loosing it much more easy to dismantle the defence than offence and still look like your trying. how many Top Oline is open for sale RN VS Defensive players___? it is SO easy to figure out
We are 💯 percent not getting a big name player..
And we better get a better Oline coach
No player other than than QB is worth 3 points per game
Let the Lions spend the money on Max
Marcus’ ribs gonna be smoked! 😂😂
Booker may be that guy in a year or 2
What y’all gone say when Caleb lead the bears too the nfc championship game this season n maybe the Super Bowl with the way the nfc look niners are Ass rn so it’s open for anybody
We aren’t winning the Super Bowl this year
