I first met Sister Missionaries in Kirtland, Ohio under circumstances that made it completely clear to me that Heavenly Father wanted me to meet them. The encounter completely changed my life. I am thankful.

What a beautiful miracle! I hope you write down your journey. I think writing it down not only blesses your life in that you won't forget it, but also shows that you value the experience. And it can bless the lives of those you love, to have a written record of these things. My Dad wrote down the events that led to him finding the Church and accepting the message of the missionaries, and I treasure it so much!

I'm an ex-member so my nevermo moms knew a lot about Mormonism. And my mom and her SO let the elder missionaries help them with yard work.

Good Luck in Mohammedan West/Northern Europe. Stay safe. Will the Church give "real" statistics of injured missionaries?

Not only did I refuse to serve an LDS mission, I chose to use my money and time by not doing so. I was able to finish college early, and use the $20,000 it would have costed to serve a mission by starting a business that employs others.
NONE of the first presidency (Thomas S. Monson, Henry B Eyring, or Dieter Uchtdorf, all THREE military veterans) EVER served a mission.
Neither did eight of the twelve quarom of the twelve apostles, choosing military service over missionary service.
I have the same rights and priviledges as a return missionary, (temple marriage, recommend, etc)
Plus I have the same PRIESTHOOD as a return missionary as well.
You DON'T have to serve a mission to be a worthy member of the church at all!
