You really have captured the flavour of the original Classic film Peter, even the bus passing under the train.....Good on the NNR for putting on such a wonderful event....Bob
To see and hear a steam train as it journeys through the English countryside is a truly wonderful thing. I was lucky enough to experience this as I approached Alresford, Hants and the Watercress Line.
Hi Peter Great stuff! You captured the atmosphere of the event perfectly. It's uncanny how the bus managed to time its run so precisely to pass the train at the bridge!
Thanks Mike, Actually the bus was shadowing the Thunderbolt all weekend, however it still it took me three attempts to capture that must have shot! Hope you are well!
Thanks Bob, Yes the North Norfolk’s Titfield event was excellent! The idea was conceived and organised by self confessed Titfield nut and NNR volunteer Oliver Fosker. Everybody entered into the spirit of the things which made it all the more enjoyable. Just a shame the weather on Sunday put a dampener on things after so much hard work…
Many thanks’ Chris, Yes luck and perseverance I guess! Actually it took several attempts to capture the OB and the 1400 together on the move at 303 and still never managed to achieve complete perfection...
aha, well I did go ahead and have a go at it anyway, whilst I was at it I adjusted the timings slightly so the bus and train were at the bridge simultaneously. It needs some tweaking but I should be able to show you this evening...
Nice shots! If you'd ever like to have a go at some aerial work with some of trains to mix in with your ground footage let me know. I'm only in Norwich. Have a look at the bus shots we did earlier this week (from our radio-controlled aircraft). It'll be the last vid I uploaded. All the best
wow i wish i could have gone, i really like that the driver did the two tone just excellent, a pitty lion couldn't have been their evern planet would have been a good stand in for thunderbolt. imagen if thay had remade a mock up of the runaway loco and driven it through the town XD really glad you and other people captured the event, truly wicked.
Thanks Corwin, Not worth the effort in my opinion, otherwise I may have considered it myself! Volvo or not; had the bus been a few seconds earlier and appeared in the foreground while the thunderbolt crossed over the bridge I would have been more than happy! …. Thanks anyway. Peter.

I’m so glad they did this, and with such flare. It’s a shame they didn’t do it again for the 70th anniversary and that I wasn’t there to see this one.

That whistle sound WEEEEEEEOOOOOH xD Great!!!
Superb footage Peter, and getting the Bedford OB passing under 1450 twice - now that's what I call a stroke of luck!

As always. Excellent!

Truly excellent! If only they did this at other railways as well.

This is the most amazing video i have ever seen. Keep em coming!
If I ever managed to obtain a model of the W&U Coach, I'd be after the 14xx and the TOAD in a heartbeat.
i remeber taqlking to an old railwayman on the western and said that he disliked the 14xx class coz the cab was like a sardine can.
great video it's safer by road
