Thank you! I am doing that when there is noticeable dent or dents in it (they form when device is left for long periods of time without being used). But in the most of the cases i have new replacement to use.
hello Doc, what is the symptoms that will say it needs a center gear change. although overtime you need to change it anyway , for maitenance and the worst case is the recapping .
@@guitarshred863 most of the time you will start to hear clicking sound from device mechanics when you engage any of functions(play, ff,rew) - then it’s time to change that center gear. Recapping- these devices have quite good capacitors, but if you smell some “fish”, that means electrolyte is going out from capacitors and its time to do recapping :) (you can always change capacitors as preventive maintenance, but i have not seen these dd33 with leaked capacitors yet and i have repaired lots of them…. Cheers
hello .Although it's been a long time . since you made this video. but hopefully you can help out , I have the same sony walkman DD33 , it play but it doesn't remain pressed during play. as soon as I press play it doesn't latch , I'm suspecting a plastic has broken inside, hopefully you can help me. thanks.
@@guitarshred863 please join my Facebook group named the same as channel and post photos of inside with removed pcb. If it doesn’t stay in play mode i think one plastic part is broken or it can also be that when you put one plastic part not aligned it so that plastic leaver is not between two peaces of that play engagement plastic part like in video 13:57 Cheers
Thanks! I think there will be video about that in the future. Anyway, just remove rewind spindle and then shaft also, after that put new gear instead of old and do everything backwards. Just remember that there should be some small play back forward from that spindle. (About 0.5mm)
Just put batteries in mine for the first time. But the battery light doesnt say on. It makes same noises but doenst start turning. Where should I start?
Battery light doesn’t light up when you press play or ff or rw? What noises? Clicking? I strongly suggest to join my fb group that you can find in video description and there you can better explain with videos or photos. Cheers
Great work! Here's a tip if you decide to keep the existing idler tyre but want a little more peace of mind - just take it off and flip it over.

Can you repair Jensen walkman
Dear sir can you tell me,
What is the name of fly wheel rubber, black in colour , at 8:00 minutes,
Hi, it is “rubber ring” capstan tire.
The fact that the motor speed is quartz controlled, do you still need to calibrate at 3K hz ?
Great video. Is there any instruction on how to replace the small gear when it's cracked?
