If you read a Dual Rectifier owners manual it does a great job of explaining how the EQ works. They explain how the controls are ordered in the circuit, and why they act in the strange way that they do. They actually say in the manual to not use the midrange control between 9-o-clock and 12-o-clock, and that keeping it at or below 9 gives you a smoother scooped drive, where adding midrange over noon actually adds gain and makes the amp resist your pick attack for a springy-er sound.

I have a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Roadster, which is the RoadKing without the Progressive Link is all, I absolutely fookin love it! It sounds sooo damn good
The thickest of the mesa line, always picked one up and then sold mine cause they are so dam heavy, but I could never deny they were my FAV of the rectifiers. I was always said when i let one go.

Hey man, I have the RK2 also, quick question, when I flip my main switch everything is fine, I select my channel everything good, when I flip my "hi volts on" switch" the "ext-trig" light on my footswitch comes in and can't shut off by pressing the switch( I have nothing in the ext jackson in back). Do either of your apps do this....?

One of my amps is a Road King 2v1. Fantastic amp. Most mortals never will use one tenth of its full potential. Have a Bogner 4x12 UK V30 connected. Best cab there is. Hate oversized Mesa midlow booming cab sound. Great review!
You definitely have a tone of your own. Watched a shit ton of your vids. In the the beginning kind felt geez what a weird/different tone and I kinda thought 'ehh'. Fucking grew on me like like poison ivy. Can't stop scratching/ listening. Keep up the great work!!!
I had a roadSTERRRRR and loved that amp. Thought it got great low volume metalcore tones. Much better than the triple I was Also messing with at the time. Obviously needs the traditional cab and overdrive boost. Unless you want the limp bizkit sound, which doesn’t suck either. 100 watts, bold, diodes. Gain 1:00 Low 2:00 Mids 11:00 Highs noon or some shit Presence: off Master: noon Amp Output: never above 10:00 (on any metal amp ever lol)

I really, really want to hear you play through a JCM 900, it's a harsher sounding amp but there are some super angry sounds in those heads you won't find anywhere else
I'm more a Mark series fan overall, however, a dialed in screaming Dual Rectifier is like getting hit by fucking Mack Truck when you get chugging. Honestly wish I would have kept my modded one... The Roadking has been on my list of "must try" amps, along with the trem-o-verb.
the first roadking was a big technical disaster . i have the roadster version, perfect amp for me, why getting a dual rec when you can get 4 channel feature loaded improved version of it for even less the price? never understood that so its a hidden treasure in this regard.
Gibson won’t have any control over the production or development of Mesa products. Mesa just uses Gibson’s distribution deals- same as the deal between ESP and ENGL.
Hey John, why did you choose to use Channel 4 for the M4 record instead of Channel 3? Just curious what made you choose a channel that is less favorite. Is anyone in Century Media dictating the direction of Monuments?
There’s other instruments happening and you choose what’s right for the part not for what you prefer. Century media have no say in what we do, they didn’t hear any of it until we sent over the final masters.
TBH I am not sure I am a fan of any tones that you got here... Could it be the cab or the mics? At any rate it seems way too crushed (in a bad way), with a really weird frequency response. Nothing at all reminiscent of Petrucci's tones from Train Of Though, which was all Road King... Sick playing tho!
I think you dialed in too squishy sound, Mesa is all about roar in my opinion, building on variations of full roar. Maybe recorded interface didnt catch full range of sound in the room or there is too much gain. I would back off master a bit and also gain.

I prefer to use channel 3 in vintage double tracked and then two more tracks in modern on channel 4 for tracking.
