@@christhirkill1470 Being able to be around a man like that is key. You have a Unique Experience in that. I am in the middle of the desert 80 miles from the nearest big town and there are zero pigeon men around me. In fact I don't know another pigeon flyer for 450 miles, I know there are some in Reno and Carson City but I don't know them I just read about them. I would be happy to have a fellow or two around me with more or less experience
Your 100 percent right with that luckily I have some cracking friends in the sport both racing and roller men I talk to 3 every day then another 2 twice a week its sad but I love the way it is lol shame you have no one else around eh
i use to race miler s in the early 70,s in Liverpool , there were short distance clubs all over the town now there is not a single person with racing milers in Liverpool . Went to Barnsley a couple of times Eric also done a bit boxing in his early days, a well known figure in the pigeon game.
Very Awesome Pigeon the one that he would bet against any Pigeon in the Country! Just looking at that bird you can tell it is the good one the way it is looking around and handling.
Just watched video, very interesting and knowledgeable person he is, but he mentioned a man from the Wigan area called Walt Burchall, years ago my Dad got into Scuthers, short distance pigeons, I took him to an allotment in Wigan, to see some lads who were into them, Barry, and Ken and why we were there a man called Walt came on the plot, they said he was very good with the birds and he was into greyhounds. It may be the same man, if memory serves me right the plots were near a pub called Ben Johnson. All the best Frank
Asandk your old friend planty has he ever heard of a man from ince Wigan called george threllfall he's the wife's uncle very good keen shorty man in his day passed away now .but well known in the area
Tell your friend Walt birchall is a local chap well known for the shortys and likes a pint.when the wife was a girl and teenager her dad had a pen with horses and ponies .adjoining pen was shorty racing pen a few men shared this pen .on race day woe betide you if when cock was due to let you where making a noise with the ponies.they had a sort of look out tower made of wood you could hear the men saying he's here.the house where I lived till I was 9 was right next to Leeds Liverpool canal 20 metres from new springs bridge .this was a tossing mark for shortys I have watched them hundreds of times as a boy throwing the Shorty cocks .may be this is where I got the bug .we moved house when I was 9 and we had a garden within a month I had 2 racing pigeon squeakers in the next few years I had shortys fantail crosses all sorts of pigeons but never any tumlers or rollers .don't remember seeing any in my local area .the man I had my first pair of squeakers off had some what where probably Wolverhampton mags he used them as feeders never flew them.from being a kid I always remembered these birds in a little flight.never had any till 1992 the year Peter Harper' won the world cup went and got stuff straight off him .he loaned me the hen that won 1987 aerc rose bowl and it's half brother .over about 12 months I had maybe another 6 birds off him and that's it never made an outcross in about 27 years .you have seen my stuff doese it look weak and runty I don't think so.i see a lot have crossed them that's there choice I don't think they needed it but then I wouldn't .again good to see people enjoying the birds I spent a lot of time trying to get them the way I wanted .that's it for now good luck
