90 % of the best Soviets were not playing here,it was the year USSR collapsed,so a lot of veterans and young stars decided not to play in 1991 CC.

Yea , why play and get exposure to the hockey scouts when your country is collapsing and the will be major questions about the economy? Sure pal, always an excuse .

@@aleksthegreat4130 its over 20 years later and still losing lol how fitting. Funny Canada seemed to be missing a few good players too named mario lemieux and a few others so keep crying for the rest of your life at this loss. I can list many more scores than you that will make you cry for a very long time

It is so funny listening to Don Chevrier commentating on how quiet the Quebec City crowd is, considering that it's the Soviets that Canada is playing. Remember, in the not too distant future (1995) the province of Quebec would engage in a referendum to decide whether they would say in Canada. Lots of constitutional rankling had passed under the bridge in the past (The Night of Long Knives, the failed referendum in 1980, Meech, the Charlottetown Accord's failure to come (1992), and much hard done by French sentiment about their treatment at the hands of a mostly English federal government). The Lindros snub may have explained Le Colisee's mood that night. Or, perhaps, the lukewarm acceptance of a national team with a maple leaf on its chest was too much of an thumb in the eye for those uncomfortable with their place in Canada.

Lindros was just a kid doing what his dad was telling him to do. His father unfortunately, had a very negative impact on his professional career.
