- Zakynthos (Zante) is the Greek island, third largest of the Ionian island. It lies in the eastern part of the Ionian Sea, around 20 kilometres (12 miles) west of the Greek (Peloponnese) mainland.
Zakynthos is about 40 kilometres (25 miles) long and 20 kilometres (12 miles) wide, and covers an area of 405.55 km2 (156.58 sq mi). Its coastline is approximately 123 km (76 mi) in length.
In Greek mythology the island was said to be named after Zakynthos, the son of the legendary Arcadian chief Dardanus.
Island is a tourist destination, with an international airport served by charter flights from northern Europe.
The capital has the same name as the island, the town of Zakynthos.
The mild Mediterranean climate and plentiful winter rainfall endow the island with dense vegetation. The principal agricultural products are olive oil, currants, grapes and citrus fruit. The Zante currant is a small sweet seedless grape that is native to the island.
The Bay of Laganas is the site of the first National Marine Park and the prime nesting area for loggerhead sea turtles (Caretta caretta) in the Mediterranean.

Absolutely fantastic island. Went there for 12 days previous year, which is a perfect time to see everything. My biggest tip: rent a quad and get a snorkeling set. If you follow the small roads you will get to the best beaches. In the water you will spot turtles and beautiful fish.

Can you give details about the boat tour from Porto Vromi to Shipwreck Beach, or share website link?
There are several companies that organize trips to the Shipwreck Beach and the Blue Caves. I was sailing from Porto Vromi Anafonitria. I went there and booked the tour on site. If you want you can call first to make sure there are places available. When I was there in the high season there was no problem with a boat seat. Here is one of the links:

Great video, we are looking to go there next month , I know it would be a pain to add the name for all locations that that would make it a lot helpfull. For the time seeing an area you would see on a corner the name of the location.

Bas sam bio u dilemi,dali da je podsetim na lezaljku koju je koristila tri dana .A onda odlucila da podje na mom delu plaze gde nema lezaljki,muzike,krofni,dosadnog dremeza.I ostala samnom do kraja letovanja...A sad ovog leta,samo se dopisujemo,jer je daleko a maske su preko nosa.
