Our first impression of Thailand’s capital city Bangkok!
First we start the video going to a very unique wacky cafe which was overpriced and not all that.
We try and use as much of Bangkoks transport as the is so many opsite to get around the city we show you the price and how to use them.
After getting a ferry taxi we arrive in china town where we explore Sampheng Night Market which was so long and busy. After shopping we then go for dinner our fave part of the day.

We are Reanne and Ben living in Portsmouth, England. We have been together from the age of 15.
We brought our first house together at 23, got married at 25 and Reanne started her own business at 27.
We have been wanting to travel the world for the last couple of year but covid put a stop to it.
The day has finally come we have sold our business and packed everything we own into storage, rented our house to explore as much of the world as we can in one year.

Hi. Loved your vdo. Sampeng is usually where retailers go buy stuffs for retailing. The price there usually quite cheap already and they prefer the go by bigger quantity. The lady didn’t laugh at you of ashamed. Sometimes people laughed because they can’t accept the offer and it’s just out of the nature of the people. There’s nothing about insulting, mate. Don’t take it personal. I hope you enjoy your time in Bangkok.

Hi guys, you got it wrong. When the retailer laugh, she didn’t mean to laugh at you. Thai people always smile and laughing. In this case she may think that you bargained that much. That’s it. Different places different cultures. This market and others local markets normally offer reasonable price 😊

Yes she might think oh I might eat fried egg if I sale that price you need . You can deal discount about 10-20% it can accept .
The market you go to is a wholesale market. Normally, they sell in bulk, the price is cheap (from 3 pieces or more), if you buy just one they will tell you the retail price. And her behavior was not rude. She might laugh because the price is so cheap but you still dare to bargain.😊 it’s not over price

120 is already cheap . If u buy at chatuchak the price might be 199 or even 299. Sampeng is the place they sell stuffs as wholesale price so buy bigger quantity if u want to get cheaper price, but i can tell u that the 120 is the same price for local as well if u buy only 1 hat.

For your information
Thai people usually do not eat scorpions. Grilled scorpions are just items for sale to tourists. This makes many people misunderstand that Thai people eat scorpions. Some insects may be watered for cooking in the North and Northeast.
So I don't recommend you guys to try it next time.
And the laughter of the sales people in Thailand means completely different from the western people. While deciding to consider something, especially a bargain. Salespeople always smile and laugh to think, not laugh at you. Please understand Thai culture. Laughing at people negatively We won't do that.

The pressed sweet potato is very delicious and not easy to find in Bangkok or in the other provinces. It's not expensive either. Taste it if you have another chance.

Burned cassava is very difficult to find in Bangkok. And it's very delicious with syrup, it's even more delicious and the syrup is made from cane sugar. Make it smell good, you haven't eaten, you've missed it.

Living in Spring Valley, Las Vegas the house I was staying at had a scorpion problem. One morning I was stung on my shin while sleeping in bed. I would use a shovel and smack them, but never thought of eating one. May be one day. Nice video guys!!

Price for the Moped Taxi here is different from another countries my friend, they not have it for cheaper class people, they have it just for avoid the traffic jams so the price of the Moped Taxi is about x2 or x3 more expensive if compare with the Car Taxi, only Moped taxi for the local in a little Soi that's cheap but just short distance only if you want to go long distance then very expensive.
But it’s cheaper in grab though

You need to barter a bit more. If the price is 120 baht then you say 80 baht and they say no then go to 100baht. If you buy a couple of items then you could bring the price down a bit more .
Il like your style I did just get laughed at by the rude lady when I tried to barter like I need to buy it 😂

Hello Reanne & Ben my friend try to visit beautiful places in the Philippines , explore Boracay Beach in Malay, Aklan, it is claimed to be the best beach of the world. (Check it out in TH-cam) There is a direct daily flight from Manila going to Caticlan Airport in Boracay Islands.
BEST THING TO DO IN BORACAY ISLANDS.
1. Island Hopping in Boracay Islands, it is full of white sandy beaches, blue indigo waters and dreamy sunsets. Known to be unexploited paradise. The stops often includes the beaches of Lapus-lapus, Ilig-iligan, Crocodile Island & Magic Island.
2. Visit Puka Shell Beach in Boracay, it is located in Yapak, Malay, Aklan, tricycles and boats going to Puka Shell Beach can be hired from White Beach.
3. Ariel's Point is the most popular for the 15 meters high diving boards where adventure junkies can leaf off to the clear waters below. It is located in Batason, Buruanga, Aklan,purchase a ticket from Ariel's house in Station 1 where the boat leaves to Ariel point.

I’m Thai and I think scorpion is for showing to tourists and I haven’t known yet when it s happened in Thailand that the street vendors sell scorpion in tourist areas. My dad is going to 94 and he s never ever eaten it yet 😂.

I think she would like to express how come does it not sale for that price but language is a big barrier that is why she is laughing. the final price is 120 baht but you asked for 80 baht. Thai people don't ask for that much discount though. You can buy 2 piece and ask for some discount ,for example, 220 for 2 pieces( 20 baht discount). Actually, 120 baht is quite cheap. She is not rude at you. Thai people always laugh. Laughing in Thailand does not mean rude.

Good to hear you had a great time and experience in Thailand. If you would like to learn more about Thai . I recommend you exploring Norther Thailand like Chiangmai. You will see the different culture, lifestyle, food which you have never seen in Bangkok. I have a lot of British friends who are falling in love to Changmai and they have a will to retire themselves there.

The sales girl was not laughing at you when you asked for a lower price. She laughed because she was embarrassed that you would ask for a lower price on such an inexpensive item. Then you said she was rude, but you just don't understand Asian culture. My wife is Asian and she immediately said to me that the sales lady was embarrassed. You probably would have paid $3600 for round trip airfare for a flight from the UK to Bangkok, but you want to quibble over the price of a hat that costs $3.75? And later you said the items in that market were good quality. Street vendors might have slightly lower prices, but only because they are not paying for a stall space inside the market. At the second place when the sales guy quoted you an even higher price for the hat you flippantly tossed it aside and didn't place it back in its original place. Small wonder why some S.E. Asians don't particularly like foreigners. Worse yet, your cocky attitude makes it worse for those of us who live here.

Anyway, I am not sure how the people in the UK may think, but your tossing the hat away before walking out of the shop is deemed quite rude. ถ้าคุณเรียนรู้วัฒนธรรมที่แตกต่างมาก่อนคงไม่เข้าใจผิดแบบนี้ คนไทยยิ้มง่ายหัวเราะง่ายเป็นเรื่องปกติ แต่การที่คุณโยนหมวกแบบนั้น สำหรับคนไทยแล้วไม่มีมารยาทมาก ไม่มีคนไทยที่ไหนทำแบบนั้นกับคนอื่น ไม่ว่าเขาเป็นคนขายของหรือพนักงานบริการ เราก็จะให้เกียรติคนอื่น แล้วอีกอย่างราคา 120 บาท สำหรับคนไทยเองมันไม่แพงเลย เพราะสำเพ็งของถูกมากอยู่แล้ว แต่คุณต่อรองราคา 80 บาท เหมือนพูดเป็นมุขตลกคนขายก็เลยหัวเราะออกมา เพราะไม่มีใครที่ต่อราคามากขนาดนั้น ถ้าคนไทยต่อรองราคาแบบนี้คนขายก็จะหัวเราะออกมาเหมือนกัน ไม่ใช่เพราะว่าเป็นต่างชาติถึงหัวเราะ
