- In this Black Desert Online Guide I will show you how to build a boat in BDO. Building a boat in Black Desert requires a lot of material and time!
In this BDO guide I will show you the materials, where to get them and how to make them, the Black Desert Crafting system is alot of fun and allows players to really feel a sense of accomplishment when they craft something!

+MrPleasant I changed my mind because there are none on the marketplace and I figured the workers would give some passive income. Now I have a ton of properties, 20 workers and all the parts for my first boat and it's being worked on right now.

Building boats was so awesome. I built many boats. Was building boats for weeks. Then I fished on them. Sold my fish in the desert, crsfted som crates, sold them and built some boats again. It was so awesome. I am installing the gsme now again for just building boats, roleplaying is awesome. I am not kidding here, it takes time but it is fun.
Guess i will give you some hints...
- First tier processing knowledge is from Hidel, main street and the market (where tool vendor is)
- Blackstone powder can be acquired from grinding crystals - yellow rarity give you like 35 (random) but don't grind blackstones - those are worth more whole.
- You can also craft fishing boat in Ilya ( NE of Velia , ferry can take you there)
Remember boat got limtied durability (yellow)- it will last quite a while but once it breaks you need to make new one (health - red bar - as when it gets damaged can be repaired)
I guess i should also mention you can just swim just as fast and the fatigue damage you take is small ( can be easily healed with pots).

Stuff like this is why I am so excited for the game, because since it doesn't just throw the stuff you want/need at you so easily it makes every little thing you do have a sense of accomplishment. It may feel like a time sink for those players short on time, but in the end it will feel worth it when you achieved it yourself.

The BDO crafting system reminds me of the EQ1 crafting system. Crafting so many small components in order to craft the end component. Like he said, grueling but ultimately rewarding if you like to see your actions amount to something physical.
I also accidentally built the ferry first haha. I will say Illya also has fishing boat and takes less nodes to connect. So if you want to build one I recommend unlocking that area and investing in the city, at the same time process the needed materials at other cities and then ship them to Illya. Also as Tin take longer to obtain I recommend going to Trent and mining around to the west of the city. I usually can get 100 tin, 90 lead, 130 rough stone within an hour easily. Hope this helps others building.

SuperBigBizkit Well in Cbt2 at least, you could buy the skins and it gave you the ship license with it, then you register it to the ferry manager and you have yourself a ship.

Also, best to have alts as each share energy cap, I have my main character and 3 alts. I log to the alts and process
all the materials and with this method I only use there energy and not my mains :).

Wurm onlines boat crafting is way more intense but this is very cool to be sure :)
Making the boat is not even close to being as hard as you say. It takes a little bit of time but that's it. I have all the mats and I am almost done making it.

illya island also has level 2 Shipyard (take ferry at Velia, ferry comes every 10minutes)
im having trouble finding tin for bronze ingots and chopping 500 birch trees will take me 2-3 days

if im juts starting the gam, do you recommend craft the first boats in velia, or wait to craft the fishing boat?
+Gesitre TV The easiest one in velia is raft but painfully slow, the rowboat in velia takes more than a gazillion mats for some reason (esp the lead ingot-need knowledge or something). Your best bet if you want to fish in far of northern islands is just swim, just bring a lot of potions to heal ur hp from fatigue damage.
Would you recommend Black Desert? I am always torn by some people who say pretty negative things about it, then some people say this game is awsome, im so confused :S btw have you played Blade and Soul? Iam thinking about getting this since everyone who hates bd love bns lol. Or maybe ill just have to wait for bless or crowfall :/

And are there any mobs that can get on your boat or so? Is it safe to afk fish on it?
+Benjamin Buljevic you can get killed by other players when u afk fish, your boat gets destroyed but I believe you can "revive" it at the ferry manager, just as when your horse gets killed - for a few silver.

Calpheon, is it a city I have to visit by my own interest or will I get a quest going there? I'm currently at Heidel.
Everyone who is having a hard time finding Working the Ash Tree quest; Make sure you have your quest notification for life skills turned on. Otherwise, it won't show. Then go to Ficy in Heidel a few steps near Lebyos. Good Hunting!

What's the best way to level processing? Probably turning logs into scantling I'd assume but I don't know if there's anything you can get more easily

i have a question...if the lodging for the worker is closer to the node is it faster?
What if you crate a guild with your friends, can they give material to guild warhouse (if that even exist) to put together a ship easier? and can they join you for fishing?

Question on boats. If I carft a boat, can my friend join me on the boat for fishing if I control the boat? Or only myself can sit in and do fishing?
I have a noon question, when you get a house and you turn it into a workshop, how do you craft the stuff?? I mean do I store the logs and the workers will make planks or I have to cut the logs into small logs or something?
I ask this because I want to start building wagons and gathering tools but not know how to craft them. Thank you :)

i was at arms dealer and i noticed that there is option to repair your ship...so im not sure that it gets destroyed when it loses durability

I dont understand how to phasing and the distribution of players is gonna work. Are there factions and can you pick which one you want? Are there different zones or is it just one big one and are there gonna be seperate servers? Cause if you're saying to "mine stone here" or "chop wood here" wouldnt you see thousands of other players mining and chopping at those places?
+hoenny1 From what I know, the channel system is used. Think of it as servers that you can hop between whenever you want.

+Onineko The boat you saw in this video is the biggest boat you can craft in the game, but maybe they will add bigger ones at a later stage. I believe that only YOU can mount your own boat, no one else :).

We never buy or craft boats, we buy or craft a limited usage licence for boats, like a rental, unfortunately... Is there any way to have an unlimited lifespan boat, even if it costs real money ??? I know is to be realistic (grind) but we could have a silver-paid boat repair service, like in real life, where boats last for decades

well, i invested like 80CP in the nodes and now i can craft like 25 boats a day. 25x2.2 mil works for me. it sux dat they gaved free boats earlier this year and kinda ruined my bussiness

Well to be fair, archeage had EVEN more realistic ship building, but it falls short in other regards compared to BDO so... doesnt matter.
+Petr Novák Well Archeage had that shity laubor system which well I hate it. Don't get me wrong Archeage was one of the best games that happened to me and I loved it I even played it while everyone was calling it P2W which it was not saying it wasn't. RIP ARCHEAGE I'll miss you.

I mean, you already have the materials, they´re sitting right there on your storage.
I guess the shipwright needs to inspect them. =)
