Astro Boy well I mean her whole drag persona is a Barbie doll so it makes sense that she’d match lol a lot of her looks are direct life sized copies of Barbie outfits
Same but tbh I'm just here to watch her talk about her dolls and how much she loves them bc I have my own massive collection of Monster High dolls on display in my room and never really get to gush about my dolls. Her thing's not exactly the same as mine, but I love listening to people talk about their dolls in the same way I do. It's scratches an itch deep in my soul.
Omg back in the day of Halloween EVERYONE dressed like frickin Barbie, about ‘71, ‘72. The JUMPSUITS 😆 the fringe the bell bottoms, who has my PINKING shears??? Know what THOSE are??? And get this, many barbies were unsaleable, not able to trade because we young masochistic ladies wanted ‘authentic’ NIPPLES so we pushed straight pins in to make nips!!! You could get stuck grabbing the doll from the pins sticking out the back 😂
I dunno, gay Ken is so gay he's not even attracted to biological woman Trixie Mattel (in my head canon Trixie only buys the boy dolls that would buy her a drink at the bar)
This is quite literally what I've been waiting for since season 7...Trixie talking about Barbies!!! I died when I saw the new episode of UNHHHH with the subject of dolls, but it was only a taste of what I wanted. THIS is what I wanted, Trixie very meticulously going into detail about her favorite dolls. As a vintage Barbie collector myself, I could watch these for hours. I literally squeal every time she shows a new doll and I already know exactly the name of the doll, the year, and the fashion even before she explains it. I would FREAK OUT to be able to sit and kiki with Trixie about dolls for hours. And yes...going back to the subject of shame (and particularly gay shame), I honestly don't talk about my 300+ Barbie collection to anyone, including other gays, because I have shame that it is TOO gay, so this is everything. THANKS TRIXIE!!!
As a fellow gay, owning 300+ dolls is extremely gay, and I’m obsessed with it!! I would love to have a friend to teach me about dolls (I’m very into Barbie but haven’t done the full deep dive into collecting, I’m scared it will get expensive for me 😂). No one does it like us gays 💅
I’m 58 and grew up with Barbie. I had totally forgotten about the add on hair pieces!! I definitely remember having them after seeing this though. My mother used to make our Barbie clothes but I had a lot of store bought ones. My favorite doll of the 70’s though was my Chrissy doll. Talk about hip clothes. She has a link and orange jumpsuit that would make you cry.
I can’t wait for the 90s so I can be like “I HAD THAT ONE!” Or “I WANTED THAT ONE but my mom was too homophobic to lie and say it was for her niece to the cashier that day.”
I love how totally into these she is and that she actually takes these out and shows them. Not one of those "no, you can't touch it!" That one with all the hair pieces. I just died! This is better than actual fashion week! I want to be like Trixie when I grow up. 😁😁
I really love how she's showing the world her "awkward" side. I mean for a lot of people collecting this is useless or dumb, but for a collector it means something very important, you can say she's into the evolution of the Barbie as a reflection of the woman through time. Stunning, for real. I couldn't show the world my geek side, and i'm kinda being inspired by her
This was my era! Born in 1966, I had a sister 6 years older. So I inherited her dolls when she outgrew them when I was little. Then my grandparents gave me tons. I love the late 60s & early 70s Mattel dolls. I remember the Trixie with all the different hair pieces, I loved the ringlet fall. Thanks for bringing back happy memories!
She has a few pieces that are similar, I specifically remember seeing Trixie in an outfit on Unhhhhh that looked like the 1969 Talking PJ outfit she showed in the 1960s series video
I could listen to you talk about barbies for hours. Who else needs a long ass video of her just going through her ENTIRE collection!!?!?! 🙋♀️🙋🏻🙋🏻🙋♀️🙋🏻🙋♀️🙋🏻🙋🏼♀️🙋🏽♂️🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️🙋🏿♀️🙋🏻🙋🏼🙋🏽🙋🏽
The Steffie mold NEEDS to come back. I'm obsessed with her face ever since I've been obsessed with Barbies, which is, FOREVER. I also love Midge, long live Midge.
i would take literal classes of trixie just telling me about the history of barbie and how it related to what was actually going on in women's liberation and fashion at the time the barbie was made. I could listen to her talk about them for hours
Porn actor coke den master had lol’ing, literally. Standing at the stove making mac & cheese for my 4 year old laughing out loud. 😂 that was the most accurate description of that ken that could have ever possibly be said.
I am so happy Trixie is doing this I literally enjoy it so much. It encompasses history, fashion, art, lifestyle, glamour with a niche subject i would never normally get to appreciate.
I love hearing people talking about things they love. It’s so captivating. I’m looking forward to more eras! I feel like I’m learning pop culture history too lol. It’s great.
Trixie, maybe could you do a close up of their shoes while doing the showcase shots of them? A lot of your commentary is about their shoes but the camera has cut them out!! Love this series trixie ❤️❤️❤️
I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve watched these videos and I need more. I’ve even started buying the BMR1959 Barbie dolls to get a doll fix. Trixie has unleashed something long suppressed in me
OMGosh - gotta pull out my barbies. I’ve got a few 60s but I’ve got 70s galore! I’ve got that walking Stephanie and jumper, Malibu Barbie, dancing Ken...how about Ken’s fringe disco outfit!! That Francie updo!!
"I feel like I wear all these expensive, expensive big stacked wigs and you guys don't care and then when I wear a straight wig you guys are like: OH MY GOD" ok why you calling me out???
This is now my favourite series ever. I love seeing history reflected trough dolls, not only fashion history but economic and political changes too, it's awesome. Also Trixie looks incredible in this outfit!
I need Shea Coulee to have an outfit like Live Action Christie so her and Trixie can do a full 70’s photo shoot. Bring her in as the next model for Trixie cosmetics!
I'm 25 and watching this re assured me that my hobby of collecting and my love for barbies is A OKAY. Dont stop making these!! I love these series tracy !!
I’ve still got all my original Barbies Francies & Julia’s from the 60s & 70s, I can remember lusting after some of these outfits, like snooze news, in some of the little booklets that came with the dolls. I remember in the mid 70s in the UK you could get a Malibu Barbie with several cornflakes packets. Francine was my favourite, I always thought she looked sad!!
I completely adore this series. Everyone's said it, but there's nothing more captivating than someone so enjoyable just *enthusing*. And I learn things!
Omg yes they dont have to do it together they could film separately or Skype. Such a good idea I always have been wanting so see trixie in more basic femme makeup the one makeup swap she did was with kim lol and it looked alot like her makeup.
Superstar Barbie was the first Barbie I ever got (I'm old). My Mother and Aunt who were professional seamstresses made me historical clothes for her. I think this is where my obsession with fashion and drag started.

I found her so strikingly beautiful! I never really played with her cuz I didn’t know what to do, but I did spend hours looking at her. I was such a Tom boy but I loved her diamond ring and heels! it's so true how collecting dolls is like having a little piece of fashion history...even if you don't collect vintage dolls if you bought a rainbow high series one in 2020 you can see the exact trends that are almost dated now.
Thank you so much for this series, Trixie! As a huge Barbie fan, and someone who is immune compromised and struggling with quarantine, my mom is so excited for each one that you post. ❤️
I never thought I would be living for this series as much as I am 😂 it’s just so fun to see Trixie genuinely get so excited and talk about the history of all of these dolls. It’s super interesting!
I love the Steffie head mold, so pretty. I also really like how the 70s Barbies had a wide variety of outfit colors. It doesn't always have to be a pink outfit every time!
I had a thing for Mod Ken: mid-length, wavy brown hair, facial hair accessories you could glue on him. I think he wore a turtle neck sweater with a tweedy sport coat with leather elbow patches. Or I'm confusing him with Hot English Professor Ken, I don't know.
Love this video and the one on Barbies of the 60s (fellow vintage Barbie collector, though I don't have as many as you do!) My first Barbie was from the 70s--the TNT 1970 Marlo Flip Barbie, blonde, side glancing eyes, real eyelashes, wearing the pink/white mod swimsuit. If you have a MIB on this version, I am green with envy. Thanks for sharing your collection with us.
I worked in a bar and a customer gave me a Barbie. I think she was Hula Hair Barbie? Anyway, she sat up on the shelf and we all called her Key West Coke Slut Barbie.
I love hearing people talk passionately about the stuff they're super into, especially when it's stuff I thought I didn't care about. Like, this is honestly so cool. I never really thought about how things like dolls go far beyond just being a toy. They really are such a cool reflection of the past that we don't often see! The history of these dolls is amazing! I guess I'm into dolls now?
I am watching this back and re-obsessed with all of these.
LOVE that!!
I have Malibu Barbie from my mom from the 70s, she keeps falling apart, she likes snaps back together from the stomach.. Lmao!
Trixie Mattel we need a house tour and a doll tour lol. I’m nosy.
can't wait for more from this series. It's lit

Petition for Trixie to get her own doll
The Live Action Tracy?
She has a funko Pop doll!
That, is a very dangerous idea.
I also need a Juno birch doll
Attelier Poppen did a great one!
The way that Trixie can’t choose which doll is her favorite is the way I can’t choose which Trixie look is my favorite.
Red for filth from as3. Everyone can fight me.
Trixie: *showing us any doll* “This is one of my all time favourites”
“This is one of the most iconic...”
as a girl who didnt stop taking barbies to school until like 6th grade and still secretly played with them until 8th like...I LOVE this series
