BTS: 81, Classic Ninja (This is NOT Ninjago!)

Greetings LEGO(R) Fans! We are breaking down another amazing classic LEGO theme, this time it's the rather unknown Ninja set line. Yes, just got Robber's Retreat, Ninja Surprise and two little blue samurai sets with cart and a horse! One of the best Lego lines ever!

I started to collect Ninja because it was a subtheme of Castle. Brickset lists 29 sets for Ninja, but a few are duplicates with different numbers, such as 1184 Cart, which is the same as 1099 Ninja Blaster. I count 24 unique sets. I'm fortunate to have 83% of the collection complete--all bought at the time new sealed in box and now each built. I have many fond memories of building these sets over 20 years ago.

Nice collection. I only had 3 sets, and the shogun on his horse was one. I have a canvas print of him hanging on my wall. One of the coolest figures ever

It took me a second to remember but most of my figures lived together and we're to busy fighting ghost, skeletons, witches, and vampire knights. I never new there were bad guys either Daniel.
