    I love reviews that actually contain hands on info esp when someone is honest enough to go into detail what they feel is an issue or a downside to the product. Really helpful comparison to previous gen. You get a sub.

    Very nice! I have a 24” 1301 Comp. if I didn’t already have it I’d take a good look at the pro and the Mossberg 940 JM Pro.

    • @EnglishShooting
      @EnglishShooting  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Having seen the 940 today, it's not a bad option but needs to be tested for reliability first. The Pro isn't worth upgrading from an original 1301 in my opinion.

    Excellent video! Just a quick comment for anyone considering purchasing this shotgun °°it will require a break-in with some high-powered loads mine took around 50 to 60 rounds of higher velocity rounds to loosen things up and allow for proper cycling of target loads and bird shot ect.

    I want a 1301 so bad. This and the FN slp is what made me trust auto shotguns. I used to be exclusively a pump guy.

    Beretta takes 'bluing' a gun very literally!

  • @Verminterminator
    @Verminterminator 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I think that Beretta have had to make the modifications as they were being left behind by the Benelli M2 SP which I own ... Fabulous gun and faultless. I own a few Beretta's so am not bias....The M2 SP also cycles on 28grm loads which surprised me as my SBE needed 32grms and up... Also to note that the M2 SP is 10 plus 1 which is also a benefit....

    The extension tube isn't standard in the U.S. In fact, you have to remove the restrictor rod when you get it, just to make it a 5+1 capacity. That's fine though, I don't need the extension tube. I got mine a couple months ago, but I haven't taken it to the shotgun range yet. I can't wait to try it out and see if the recoil reduction features really make a difference.

    Great review!
    Is it normal that the Toni magazine extension tube gets burnt on its front end? I shot my brand new 1301 Comp Pro just once, about 120 rounds, mostly slugs, and now the mag extension looks ugly because its polymer material right under the barrel end is fried.

    • @msi1985

      I think you can actually get a smaller barrel for it -
      I believe any of the optima barrels would fit in this action if you're so inclined 🤗
      Food for thought that extra 5 in is worth every extra foot per second in my opinion and doesn't hamper room clearing one bit if you do drills on a regular basis 🙏

      and I would 'not want it to be any longer.
      I took the shell limiter out and now it shoots 6 shells.
      That's enough for me.

      Before reviewing the PRO I was leaning towards the M2 SP, but this has pulled me back to the 1301. Both are awesome guns, really it's going to come down to shooting them side by side and going with what works best for you.

    • @willzibub
      @willzibub 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      These 1301s are well set up for practical shooting but I find Benellis to be better balanced and feel better in the hands, but that's pretty subjective I suppose, although I would recommend anyone to get hands-on experience with both before making a decision around specs and features alone.

      There’s no age restrictions on joining a club, once a member you’ll be able to use any of the rifles under supervision. You can even at 13 obtain a Shotgun Certificate but it’s usually better if a parent gets one as well. Really the best thing to do is join a local club and continue clay pigeon shooting 🙂

    It appears, that Beretta made no mods to the 1301, instead they send the 1301 to tony and pimp up the old 1301 making it the 1301 pro-comp

  • @Serenityindailylife
    @Serenityindailylife 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    1301 was made for the US, we had a regulation that required it to carry 5 or less rounds for sporting purposes. Now they build for individual markets.
    Overmolding breaks down over years. I have a overmolded ruger stock that feels like old gummy bears.

    I don't think we'll be able to get the 1301 Comp Pro in the US - How do you think an A400 Xtreme Plus with 26 inch barrel would fair in competition in contrast with the 1301 Comp Pro? Because the A400 seems to have everything the 1301 Pro does, except for maybe the upgrades to the way the gun feeds. The downside is it's got an extra 2 inches of barrel The upside to the A400 is it's got the extended forcing cone barrel that is suppose to help patterning and reduce recoil. But as far as I can tell, the 1301 Comp Pro is basically taking all the stuff they created for the A400 Xtreme Plus and then putting it on the 1301 Comp. The rails and barrels of the 1301 comp can be put onto an A400 Xtreme Plus, so there seems to be cross compatibility of parts.

      EnglishShooting apparently due to import regulations they don’t in America. And the one dealer for Tony System is out of stock. So they can’t import them already on the shotgun, but can still get them in separately. Bonkers.

    Thoughts on this compared to the stoeger m3k ?

    • @EnglishShooting
      @EnglishShooting  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both are out of the box and ready to go, the 1301 slightly more so. The M3K is a lower quality gun and will require more work to get running as slick as the 1301. The biggest difference is the price, the 1301 is going to be 3 times the price. I think it's worth it for the 1301, and I've own one and a M3000. If you're looking to get started you're not going to go wrong with the M3K, if you're looking to compete on an international level go for the 1301.

    • @msi1985
      @msi1985 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm curious if you ended up getting a stoeger I had two friends with the m3000 series and that gun had a very hard run in before it would cycle everything they wanted.
      For the price they definitely do fit the bill but there's a few things fit and finish and functionality wise that are left to be desired.

    All these Comp/Pro type of flag ship guns still need to go to a gunsmith to get the loading port opened further. I applaud for your honest review. I think most shooters will be better off getting a regular model and send it to a reputable shop or gunsmith for proper tuning.

    • @EnglishShooting
      @EnglishShooting  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a shame these guns don't come 100% ready, the Breda B12i is the closest but still needs work. I still think it's worth buying the Comp/Pro models, whether it's an M3K, B12i, 1301 Comp Pro or M2 SP. You get a lot extra for the money, take the M3K over the M3000, for £75 you get the extended tube, enlarged bolt release and enlarged safety.

    Some good things and some bad things with the new Beretta 1301 comp. We shall see how it performs. Shame they didn't open up that loading port since when you are a practical shooter, that ergonomic difference shaves precious fractions of a second off your time.
