I don't remember what I did at OCS in 1956, but we had much more classroom time than physical training. Some of my best instructors in my lifetime were those at OCS.
GySgt Dicosimo just recently finished with his last OCS class in Newport. I think his final graduation speech is on TH-cam somewhere. It's a speech that will go down as legendary.
"If you don't answer your phone next time I call, I'm going to make you run the gun loop pushing M116 trailers. I don't care if you're in the SGTMAJ's office, if I'm calling you better answer the f*cking phone. DO YOU UNDERSTAND?" - him "I couldn't hear my phone while the gear was running" - me "You might want to duct tape that motherf*cker to you G*d damn head then" - him -End of conversation-
Short answer - To the civilians it looks like that stereotypical “You messed up! Drop and give me 20!” They think the drill instructor is acting just to make it seem like he’s tough but in reality he’s holding back because their families are here
@@uzer141 Oh. But, it's a military base, right? What's the point of having a bunch of civilians there if they're not adding or partaking in the training? Especially if they're not able to appreciate the seriousness of what's going on?
What a bunch of shit since 1994 when I was in boot camp. since when do you call your c.c sir are they officers ? when I was in the highest ranking c.c was a chief... dam
Oh, my God! There are *spectators*, rubbernecking & photographing. The candidates in formation are moving, and looking around. What the Hell it says on the PT gear, "popping hearts." Since when did USN begin turning Rasin Heads into OCS candidates? We're screwed. F U B A R
Man the fact the family laughs...I like to see you roll around and run

You can tell they are graduating by how in sync they are.
GySgt Dicosimo was my SNCOIC while I was stationed in Yuma, AZ...one very frightening man if you piss him off
Calm down. It's graduation day and they're giving a performance for their families.

Awesome job by Drill Instructor, GySgt. Jason Dicosimo. It's men like you who make our military strong.
My SDI at PI in 06. 1101. Badass fucking Marine right there. Semper Fi
GYSGT Dicosimo administered my RLP inspection.... Good times
To be fair our RPOC in boot camp made mistakes too and because of it we left bootcamp strong, really strong.
Fun stuff :) Makes me think of Marine boot camp... I guess that makes sense though.

You would think they would eventually come up with something more interesting than IPT to show people.
