@KhoaNguyen-ty9tw who said I missed out? Lol. I have plenty of products from pre orders and found some at MSRP as well. I'm just not going to FOMO into paying 3x scalped prices. I can beat them at their own games just fine.
It's insane. Can't find anything in the store, either restocks aren't happening here or I'm just always missing them, so there's nothing but empty shelves for miles. Can't get anything online cause of bots (or just very lucky people somehow beating the bots)
Yes I completely agree and understand my content also contributes to this. I may rethink how to position videos to focus on not overspending right now.
Having a collection goal is more important than ever nowadays, it keeps you from overspending and just chasing trends. My girlfriend is collecting different illustrators and artists, and she is having a blast in the hobby at the moment.
Yea I joined in the middle of 2020/2021 hype… it’s the worst feeling going to Walmart to not see a restock for a month.. and i go there almost daily cause I live next to it
This definitely seems like a set where it just makes more sense to buy the single cards you like best from it. Even if you do get lucky and pull a SIR out of a pack, it's statistically unlikely that you will get the exact one you wanted most (due to the wide range of SIR cards in the setlist).
Found your channel when I was just getting back into the hobby last year. Ive only been buying cards that i love the artwork for, rather than full collections but i LOVED the original team rocket cards all those years ago so I'm super hyped for the new rocket cards coming! Will be keeping an eye on your channel for when that set is released and see how insane prices get 😂
As someone who just started recollecting a couple months ago, your market and trend insights are super helpful. I agree with pretty much everything you've said. Haven't gotten in on any pre orders and the dried up inventory of most big box stores and card shops make it difficult for the casual collector that doesn't want to, and wont, pay much over MSRP.
This channel has been a go-to for me lately! Love that it popped up on my algorithm. Thank you so much for the effort you put into these. That Chien-Pao is beautiful! Side note: every video I hyperfixate on the assembly sticker that's still on the underside of your shelf system behind you. It would be immensely satisfying to me if you took that off on camera 😂
I only started collecting like 2 weeks ago and it sure is a rocky introduction to the hobby lol. I am really enjoying it, just gotta stay clear of prismatic evolutions for like 2 months I imagine, which sucks cause I really love the eeveeloutions...
Pokémon has gotten so expensive and cumbersome for casual collectors, which is a shame because it may keep people from getting into the hobby. Pull rates have become pretty bad too, the whole scalping ordeal makes it too difficult to even get an affordable ETB, and sets and singles have become so pricey that it becomes nearly impossible to complete expansions for most people. I think I'll shift from collecting Pokémon TCG to learning how to play it and just buying the singles I need (and maybe buying some Japanese PSA 10 cards that I want to display). Seems like the more cost-effective solution for this whole situation that still lets me enjoy Pokémon! ✌
Sigh.....it feels like the pandemic all over again with how hard it is to find anything I want, especially in my area. All the shelves in my area were picked so clean that I can make a bed and sleep on it. Definitely rough out here as a collector, hopefully things will change in the coming months.🙃
I wonder how masterballs will age over time. They are not only giga rare, but if you’ve ever held one the texture and design on it is absolutely beautiful. Master set collectors might pay a premium for minty copy
Really love how in depth you go in your explanations of everything! I wonder what your thoughts are on terrestrial festival card prices as an alternative to the big prismatic hits
Just went to a card con and man they went crazy on pricing Prismatic. Etbs were 140 and everything was crazy. Hate paying so much for the sirs and alt arts. Picked up the awesome Zeraora V alt from chilling reign.
This set brought me back to the hobby. I’ve opened a binder collection two sticker backs and two etbs that I scored all retail. Pulled a Demi god pack of vaporeon, flareon and terepagos. A buddy of mine sent me here to this channel and I really appreciate all the information layed out here. Although I would love to hold onto them I think I’m going to sell and invest into something more liquid. This set although is frustrating was fun to invest in and I feel like I really lucked out! Cheers to good pulls! Thanks again -subscribed.
I think you may have mentioned this, but sellers have to have the confidence to put a card at a certain price. Right now it’s a sellers market so the confidence is there. I hit a LCS and the guy had prismatic etbs, poster collection, binder thingy collection and they were marked up about 70-80 perrcent! I was unwilling to pay and walked out after a nice chat with owner.
We have gotten into Pokémon over the last two years, but much deeper the past few months. We first got hooked opening Jungle packs and now like Sword and Shield too. We won’t get Prismatic because they cost too much, but still have fun collecting! Thanks for your videos and give ours a look if you’d be so kind 🙏
The advice that it will take a year or even more to complete a master set is very underrated. It takes a lot of work and time to put together all the cards. I have been working towards a 151 master set and still am missing a few to finish it off and it’s been over a year! Got all the SIR’s before the market went crazy (thank goodness) 😂
no, I'm upset that the hobby is flooded with scalpers all of a sudden buying out shelves and reselling things at insane prices, fighting people at Costco. most of which barely even care about the hobby itself lol. I wish people would be able to actually enjoy the hobby.
@ i think the real issue is just that people misunderstand what investing in pokemon really means and take it to the next level. Yes, stores need to set limits but also Pokemon needs to print more. If we're able to easily get the data that tells us how much the hobby is booming, then so can Pokémon. More people is great for the hobby, but these people that are only trying to make a quick buck and ruining it for everyone else is the issue.
First time i watched your videos i was like: "hum, wow, he sure knows how to make a point" and since november/december i've been watching all the new vids. Keep it up, i'm loving it :D
I found your channel just a week ago and the videos that I have watched recently are great! Keep doing you thing! Besides that, the current situation is crazy to the point where some stores are empty, no Prismatic Evolutions, or a few tin sets and booster packs.
I collected when I was a kid and decided to start collecting again last year. I really did not anticipate how pricey it can be, and of course my most desired cards are on the more expensive end. I hope you're right, personally, that many of these more expensive cards will drop in price!
It's sad to see the negativity and scalping around Prismatic Evolutions, especially in such a welcoming and kind community. Hopefully, we can get through this without losing what makes this hobby enjoyable for everyone❤
I'm new to pokemon but many try to play with my cards rather then just collect them, but being informed like this is always helpful so thank you for the video.
Hey. I have been just getting back into Pokemon, although I'm now starting to look into investing into the product, and your videos really help me. Thank you.
When Prismatic came out, I made sure to open only half of my packs and sell as low as possible the remaining packs to give others the chance without having to buy at scalper prices! 🎉
Started collecting just last year and i'm having a blast! Going for singles is the best thing for me right now. I don't keep anything sealed, as i just love the art and do it for the hobby. I will get my newborn into the hobby in the future and i can't wait!
Prices are crazy, I just got back into hobby a few months ago after almost a 10 year hiatus. and can’t believe how far Pokémon has come. Love your vids phillip,
I just got back into Collecting Pokemon about 3 months ago and its been VERY fun and Bad at the same time lol Been Really hard to get my hands on Products. Love these Videos tho! Keep up the great work!
I hope I can catch a Prismatic PC ETB when it comes back up. So far, I’ve gotten every single PC stamped promo, and I want to get the Eevee at a reasonable price..
I started this hobby because of TCG Pocket, which was when Surging Sparks released. I bought Korean booster bundles to relieve my itch of opening packs. I would love to have that cool Chien Pao Ex to show my friends. -🇵🇭
Dude, I would love to have that Chien Pao. I recently just started Pokemon and I think it would be funny if I surprised my friends with a card like that.
The price of Prismatic and Surging Sparks has really made it hard for me to get excited about new releases. It is giving me a chance to go back and finish up some older sets like SV Base and Paldea Evolved.
This is so ridiculous. I tried to get into the hobby back in December with my husband because we wanted to actually play the game. We can’t even get our hands on a single pack of cards right now. Someone was literally trying to sell me 3 single packs of prismatic for $70 the other day. I hate that we will most likely never be able to enjoy this hobby because of these scalpers. I just wanted to relive my childhood and now I’m realizing I’ll never get to.
My partner and I just got hooked on pocket TCG over the Chrissy holidays. As a result we have now chosen the worst time to get into collecting haha! We have bought a couple of ETBs via eBay and are feeling the sting but absolutely has started the passion for collecting and ultimately investing! We both enjoy your content keep it up!
I saw someone theorize that the reprint would come to shelves around Mayish, and if it does, it will be on shelves next to the Team Rocket set, which would be great for variety and availability of cards, as right now you're lucky if you find any Pokemon cards whatsoever at retail stores.
I would like to see the perspective on Japanese/Korean Terestal Festival compared to the English market. I find the difference in the card economy really interesting
Crazy to think seeing so many ppl going absolutely insane over Pokemon cards now. I recently got back into the hobby and I’ve had amazing pull luck but now trying to get prismatic, barely able to touch any product
I think I am going to wait out these new sets, and just keep buying some singles I like till it normalizes again, thanks for the great vids! Keep it up ♥
Sucks how the hobby has become a rat race. Majority of the buyers are scalpers while another good chunk of people will just sit on it sealed. I miss the hobby pre Surging Sparks
Kids not being able to open product now, only hurts the hobby in the future as you alienate the future generation of collectors, investors, and players.
I've walked in to a couple card shops and every single one of them assumed I was there for Prismatic. Almost feels like I'm one of a few in my city that are trying to avoid it entirely
Is just disheartening that a hobby that my son and I were having great bonding time is pretty much been taken away due to current state of the industry. There will be a ton of genuine fans out there who will be forced to leave soon , and it will be the kids who miss out 😢
I’ve been a fan of Pokemon my whole life (since gen 3) but I got into the hobby when celebrations came out and I’ve learned since then to be patient and to be content with missing out. True fans don’t get “FOMO”. Pokemon will be here for years to come and there will always be new cards with amazing artworks so don’t let those high prices bother you. Just collect what you can!

I feel like it's ridiculous that a set that's 4 years old at this point is the same or cheaper price than a set that came out 2 weeks ago. This sucks for casual collectors :(
As an eeveelution collector surely you should've anticipated this? A speciality set, first time Pokeball holos in english AND it's an eevee set. The writing was on the wall that this was going to be one of the best modern English sets...
Look out for
You got it
Patience and self control is what you have to have in the pokemon hobby right now.
Couldn’t have said it better
I’m collecting Paradox Rift for £2.95 a pack from the local shop 😅
@@NecroMoz which country? best i can find is way more then that for paradox
patience and self control is what got u to miss out. i got 10 cases cos pre-ordered in early november lol
@KhoaNguyen-ty9tw who said I missed out? Lol. I have plenty of products from pre orders and found some at MSRP as well. I'm just not going to FOMO into paying 3x scalped prices. I can beat them at their own games just fine.
if products are not anymore obtainable for the average collector this is is a clear sign that something is going wrong.
TH-camrs and scalpers be buying the whole,e factory at this point lmao
It's insane. Can't find anything in the store, either restocks aren't happening here or I'm just always missing them, so there's nothing but empty shelves for miles. Can't get anything online cause of bots (or just very lucky people somehow beating the bots)
Me too I bought a bunch of boxes! Not sure if I'll open or save them though. Pull rates seem horrible
Yes I completely agree and understand my content also contributes to this. I may rethink how to position videos to focus on not overspending right now.
No kidding
I think it's too many new people starting to collect because of TCG pocket
Having a collection goal is more important than ever nowadays, it keeps you from overspending and just chasing trends. My girlfriend is collecting different illustrators and artists, and she is having a blast in the hobby at the moment.
Ive returned to the hobby in September before to the hobby went crazy and now im just hoping it goes down beacuse these prices are insane 😂
Came back in September as well. I miss the days 151 packs were $10 cad lol
Yea I joined in the middle of 2020/2021 hype… it’s the worst feeling going to Walmart to not see a restock for a month.. and i go there almost daily cause I live next to it
My kid just wants a Prismatic binder since she's into Eevee, but I don't even want to buy that from the scalpers who are just holding the packs.
Love the masterball print and jolteon cards in general but its just way too hard to get my hands on product.
This definitely seems like a set where it just makes more sense to buy the single cards you like best from it. Even if you do get lucky and pull a SIR out of a pack, it's statistically unlikely that you will get the exact one you wanted most (due to the wide range of SIR cards in the setlist).

Smashed it bro! Keep growing and growing
I’ve been to so many Walmarts and targets and I can’t even find shrouded fable. This is crazy 😂
It’s exciting time to be in Pokemon. Having conversations about them with all walks of people. Some you would never expect
I agree

I feel like prismatic evolutions is like fusion strikes but with hype. Both great sets with HORRIBLE hit rates

You're upset more people enjoy the same hobby as you? Weird
no, I'm upset that the hobby is flooded with scalpers all of a sudden buying out shelves and reselling things at insane prices, fighting people at Costco. most of which barely even care about the hobby itself lol. I wish people would be able to actually enjoy the hobby.
@ I agree ☝️ but also is a double edge sword so careful what you ask for what I think also should pressure retailers to set limits to fight scalping
@ i think the real issue is just that people misunderstand what investing in pokemon really means and take it to the next level. Yes, stores need to set limits but also Pokemon needs to print more. This trend is testing the patience of a lot of lifelong collectors! Hoping to get an ETB soon!
To be honest we all are scalpers. 😂
I'm new to pokemon but many try to play with my cards rather then just collect them, but being informed like this is always helpful so thank you for the video.

It’s so annoying as a kid rn that I can’t get prismatic I’m getting pushed and shoved
Prices are crazy, I just got back into hobby a few months ago after almost a 10 year hiatus. and can’t believe how far Pokémon has come. Love your vids phillip,
Great video as always. Keep it up 🎉
I just got back into Collecting Pokemon about 3 months ago and its been VERY fun and Bad at the same time lol Been Really hard to get my hands on Products. Love these Videos tho! Keep up the great work!
I'm actually afraid to hear how pricey these prismatic evos are getting😅 I am still to get my hands on a single pack🙈
I hope I can catch a Prismatic PC ETB when it comes back up. So far, I’ve gotten every single PC stamped promo, and I want to get the Eevee at a reasonable price..
I used to collect cards when I was younger and the second I get back into the hobby i cant find anything when I go to stores, it’s rough😭
Loving the content brother, as another Australian collector it’s so good to be kept up with the news
I think it's important for the community and the hobby as a whole that at least some of the nicest illustrations stay affordable 🙏
I started this hobby because of TCG Pocket, which was when Surging Sparks released.
I bought Korean booster bundles to relieve my itch of opening packs.
I would love to have that cool Chien Pao Ex to show my friends.
-🇵🇭
Love the content! Thx for sharing your knowledge! 🎉
This channel is the best place to keep up with the market
Really appreciate the content! Keep it coming
Love the content. Keep up the great work!
Especially in such crazy times as we are currently in, it is even more important to keep a cool head and be patient.
Me, a vintage collector watching modern prices:😬
Dude, I would love to have that Chien Pao. I recently just started Pokemon and I think it would be funny if I surprised my friends with a card like that.
I love your channel, i learn tons from you. Prismatic has soured me rn but hopefully our hobby returns to reality someday
The price of Prismatic and Surging Sparks has really made it hard for me to get excited about new releases. It is giving me a chance to go back and finish up some older sets like SV Base and Paldea Evolved.
Hey phillips is it smart to buy these old sets like temporal forces/brilliant stars and stellar crown at market price for now?
Such a crazy time to be collecting. I chose to give up on Prismatic and focus on the stuff that's available and not being scalped.
Getting any good deals on Prismatic as a casual collector is so difficult that something needs to change.
Even though my brain prays for the market to come down… I follow my heart which asks me to just be patient and wait
This is so ridiculous. I tried to get into the hobby back in December with my husband because we wanted to actually play the game. We can’t even get our hands on a single pack of cards right now. Unfortunate time but welcome!

I would like to see the perspective on Japanese/Korean Terestal Festival compared to the English market. I find the difference in the card economy really interesting
been checking out your content a lot lately. Keep it up!
Been recently watching your vids in your channel. Love the content you make! Keep up the good work!
Crazy to think seeing so many ppl going absolutely insane over Pokemon cards now. I recently got back into the hobby and I’ve had amazing pull luck but now trying to get prismatic, barely able to touch any product

Great vid Phillip! I love this new set
Crazy how this hadn’t come out and was sold out immediately.
I still can't believe I got this set at retail price AND pulled one SIR, still expect to lose money overall when the prices have settled completely
Should we buy singles from Prismatic Evolutions then? Or is that just as bad as buying ETBs and Poster/Binder Collection packs from scalpers?
Love your videos! Appreciate your insight
Heya bud your work is awesome
Found your channel a few weeks ago, definitely one of the best out there right now :)
Thanks for checking out the channel!
I've walked in to a couple card shops and every single one of them assumed I was there for Prismatic. Almost feels like I'm one of a few in my city that are trying to avoid it entirely
I recently got into the hobby again after being out of it since 2014 or so, and stuff like this makes it very difficult to wanna stick around.
Watching from The Netherlands! You have such a great channel! Keep it up and off course would love the Chien Pao ❤
❤❤ thanks for the vid Phil
New collector here! Excited to see what the future holds.
I feel like I need to start a business and get in with a distributor just to get the cards for myself 😂
Is just disheartening that a hobby that my son and I were having great bonding time is pretty much been taken away due to current state of the industry. There will be a ton of genuine fans out there who will be forced to leave soon , and it will be the kids who miss out 😢
Been a lifelong Pokemon fan but new to the card collecting hobby - perhaps not the easiest time to be doing so lol
More than 50$ for an ETB is ridiculous, especially with the pull rates these days
My local (chain) stores have absolutely zero products available. They’re all wiped out and have been for a few weeks now. It sucks. I started grabbing some Lorcana to rip instead. Hopefully Pokémon company will get this fixed later in the year
Love watching! Thanks for the knowledge!
Appreciate that man, thanks for watching!
Here's a hot tip; Dont sell your winter jacket to finance two Prismatic Evolutions ETB, in january..when you live in Sweden..
The prices are going crazy! Every time I go to any store it’s always empty
My prediction is that TPCI will print Prismatic "into oblivion" and it still won't be enough 😥
This is the first time in a long time that I've found a hobby that has brought me so much joy and it's been so challenging mentally because now it feels like it's being taken away from me. It really sucks.
Just started getting actually playing the pokemon tcg and that chein pao would be perfect to finish my deck!
Prices will go down if PC will print as much as crown zenith, but even if that happens, I'm 100% confident that next year PE will be more expensive than ES
I feel like it's ridiculous that a set that's 4 years old at this point is the same or cheaper price than a set that came out 2 weeks ago. This sucks for casual collectors :(
prices are just so disappointing for this set, really hope this isn’t just the standard now
I’m an eeveelution collector so I was super excited for this set and then was very disappointed with the cost
As an eeveelution collector surely you should've anticipated this? A speciality set, first time Pokeball holos in english AND it's an eevee set. The writing was on the wall that this was going to be one of the best modern English sets...
