I picked up a Rupes Mark III 21 along with the Shinmate EX 620 21. I did not like the 5” power plate on the EX 620 21. The vibration wasn’t bad, but I felt it kinda turned into a gear driven machine, in that, that the polishing cycle became “jerky”. I swapped to a 5” plate on the Mark III 21 and liked it better. I didn’t notice much more vibration and the polisher wasn’t trying to steer me. To each their own. Also, the Mark III has more than enough power!
Im guessing you new to detailing, the Shinemate 21 is no joke and in newer hands hard to control. The Mk3 is beautiful for beginners and pros alike but the extra torque on the Shinemate is AMAZING, and honestly, as much as I like the Rupes and that everyone on TH-cam that is a detailer is using one, I would still take the Shinemate over it. I literally can correct at speed 3 and curves and bends are not a problem at all. People say technique is key to Rupes, but listen, if you are a detailer doing many jobs, then no its no acceptable
Awesome review! Thanks for clarifying that swapping to any 5” BP is not a good idea. I’d still take this over the new Shinemate 21 corded, even though the shinemate has more power. The LHR III 21 is still smoother and no slouch as far as power.
