omg i wish i discovered you years ago! here i am knocking myself out trying to draw and paint traditional figures when this was all i had to do, THANK YOU!!!
I think "all I had to do" might _slightly_ underestimate the skill level, artistic judgement, and creativity still required here! 😂 There's quite a complex series of processes happening - just a different _kind_ of challenge to figurative painting. I hope you're enjoying the journey in any event...
Hi, a stunning artist Patt! Today, just in the morning during having breakfast, your channel has appeared on my screen. I can't take my eyes of your painting!. I like this kind of art. I'm going to try it or some of flowers. I don't know whether i can do it. I'll try to follow you step by step,
I love all your 'ladies' paintings so I really wanted to watch this. I love how you tackle the background first and was pleasantly surprised by that. This was fun to watch and very enlightening. Thanks, Patt! (Micki)
Hallo Pat, I see that you paint op paper without taping it down. Doesn't that give a deformation to the paper after painting several layers of paint on it? How heavy is the paper that you usually use? 6:25
I tape it down on the back at the corners and use clips. I want to paint to the edges without a border so it is a standard size for mounting. I use Strathmore mixed media paper 140 lbs. It use the 18x24 pad. I also buy full single sheets. I don’t find that it deforms other than curling in the corners. Easy to fix by spraying the back with water and weighing it down.
I use Crayola kids brushes a lot! I also have some liquitex freestyle brushes and Household painting brushes that my husband hands down to me. I am hard on my brushes so tend not to buy expensive ones.
Love love love this!
Thanks so much!
Awesome video! And painting!
