- It's All About Confidence, When You Have The Confidence You Know What You're Doing You'll Be More Relaxed And Allow Your Driving To Flow More. Keep Going, You'll Be Fine
It must be hard for learners during the lockdowns with the long pause between lessons. When I was learning I had a couple of 4-6 week breaks due to needing some operations and that was bad enough. Good luck to her and anyone else learning or having a test soon. I am sure she will be ready soon with some refresher lessons.
I’ve been binge watching your videos! And you’re truly amazing. I’m proud to say that I passed today for the first time with 4 driver faults. Continue what you are doing. We are sooo appreciative!
Man I wish you were my driving instructor 😁. Mine doesn't have much patience. It actually makes me more confident watching your videos. Thanks and good luck to Rebecca 👍🏿👍🏿
Disagree with statement about the handbrake. From a safety perspective you should put your handbrake on at the lights for three reasons: 1. Incase someone rear ends you having your handbrake will help prevent you car catapulting into a pedestrian who could be walking across the crossing, whereas if the car is stationary w/o the handbrake on your car will easily roll into any obstacles. 2. Holding the car still with the footbrake at the lights will delay your start when the right foot should be covering the gas pedal ready to move off. 3. Traffic lights on gradients and hills require the handbrake.
Cool! Are you a driving instructor? That sounds like something an Adi would say :) 1, if your foot is on the brake where it should be then you have brakes on all 4 wheels not just the back two with the handbrake 2, it’s much quicker to take your foot off the brake than take off a handbrake 3, a hill start is quicker and more efficient with the biting point. the handbrake is a beginner level hill start 😉
@@DrivingSchoolTV I am an ADI, yes. :) Should your foot really be on the brakes at the lights? That would be contrary to what the official DVSA Driving Essential Skills recommends. There’s two reasons: 1. Unnecessary glare from brake lights to vehicles waiting behind. 2. Your foot could slip off the footbrake if e.g. your shoes are wet or if you’re bumped from behind. You could then be pushed into another vehicle or pedestrian (see ‘The parking brake’ section of Driving The Essential Skills) Secondly it is a subjective statement to say that it’s “much quicker” to take your foot off the brake than to release the handbrake, as in my experience, if your hand gripping the handbrake and feet are prepared you can move off just as quick, if not quicker. Also many pupils are practicing in cars with electric parking brakes like in my car which is also quick and convenient ;-) Lastly, while practicing moving off on a hill w/o the handbrake is a useful skill to have, it’s still no less quicker (as explained in the previous point) to use the handbrake, and is safer to do so. You should take on board that not all learners will be the most skilled at hill-starts as they’re all at the different levels and abilities. 😉
lol thought you might be an ADI! The point I was making on the video was that you have no requirement to set the handbrake while at a traffic light. Rebecca was having issues using my handbrake and this advice helped her. Both methods are perfectly okay :-)
I’m learning to drive currently and out of all the mock test videos I watch (great learning tool - my instructor said she noticed an improvement in my driving since telling her I was watching these mock test videos in my own time) I enjoy yours the most! The explanations during the video, the pedal camera and the voiceover advice is so so helpful.
@@DrivingSchoolTV I’m actually booked in for a test in Lancing in the Autumn 🚗! I had my test pushed back twice due to Covid. With a couple of months still to go we have just finished learning all the manoeuvres and so its just a matter of getting everything up to test standard and doing the local test routes to death until the big day! Haven’t been able to find any videos about my test centre but there is tonnes to learn from every mock test video as there is so much to focus on when driving, especially those living in bigger cities/London!
Tbh I felt like stalling seeing that too, I could feel Rebeccas nerves bless her, I know once stress gets in your mind... it’s so hard to get out of it. rescue remedy is good as it allows you to stop overthinking. Right hand turns and when people lift their clutch up too high ... start seeing it as you’re pulling off from the left as she had no issue doing that x

Cool to see how drivingtests and traffic itself differ in sweden and england :) Here there are no limit of minor faults, they just do a overall review of the driving, which could be either way positive or negative ig... Also, the roads here seems a little more calm... The thought of driving in England with all the traffic AND the lefthand traffic makes me ill :/
Great video as always Francis! Question: towards the end of her manoeuvre, (when you applied the foot brake) why did the car move forwards? Wasn't she on a decline? Surely even without gas or clutch control, gravity would drag her back.
Good question! She was in second gear not reverse. And when she was taking her foot off the brake she wasn't at the biting point so gravity pulled her down the hill
😂 love it thanks Paige! I’ve tried this but with the boxes in the bottom you miss important information. Like junctions and parked cars. With the big box up in the sky you miss way less. And pedals just feel like a bottom thing 😊 love any suggestions though thanks a lot !🙌

@@DrivingSchoolTV Yo Francis It’s very hard to say everyone is a perfect driver not every is very perfect especially when your under pressure in a test like this some people hesitate a turn sometimes and they might end up have to turn on the other left ahead than the one they were supposed to turn on and see when someone wants to go to parrellel parking would you say if someone drove in a very fast like lambo or Bugatti they can reverse parrellel like in the video?
I was asked to do an emergency stop in my test today and the car skidded slightly. The examiner gave me a fault for braking too hard, even though he said it was the car’s fault the ABS didn’t kick in. This feels so unfair because in an emergency aren’t you supposed to brake hard? It was not a long enough skid to pump the brakes either, just a very brief skidding noise.
