    Glad a lot of you didn’t have much issues with them. I built a ton of the motors to raise n lower the deck. I hated it when I seen one get returned because it messed up.

    I’m sure you did this, but in case you didn’t. You adjust the height while putting pressure on the deck pedal. This takes the weight off of the deck so you can change heights and then letting foot pressure off allows the height to drop or raise. I know a lot of people who try to drop height with the weight resistance of the deck fighting against them.

    • @SkylarHillShop
      @SkylarHillShop  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, I did that. I actually used the electric lift to raise it past the top cutting height position. It was still nearly impossible to do I can't imagine trying to move it with the weight of the deck hanging on it!!

    When you need to adjust deck hieght stop knob, push down on the "Quick Raise" pedal on the right. The knob then turns easy.

    Can you make a detail video how to replace belt and adjust the tension spring? If you do it right, many if people will give hundred, thousand of thumb ups. Most videos out there with title of replace belt but none of them successfully provide adequate instructions for Diy (even Bad boy manufacture does not have a good instruction video on this topic).

    Ever tried "Slime" for a leaky tire? BTW, you should only run about 12 psi in all 4 tires on that mower. The maximum psi stated on the tire has nothing to do with what psi is required for what piece of eqp the tires/wheels are used on. The tire manufacturer has no idea what the tires will be used on when they leave the factory. All they can say is what the "maximum psi" the tire can take. If the tire was on a piece of eqp weighing twice as much, it would need more psi. The mower will ride sooo much better with 12 psi....and like a log wagon at 28 psi.

      I have, but I really don't like using tire sealants. If I do use one I prefer tireject, it's amazing stuff!! Don't remember what I said in the video, I run the rears at 8-10psi now.

    The electric motor stopped pulling the deck up on mine. It turned out to be the switch. I cleaned the switch and everything was fine - for a month or two. I solved the problem by getting a foot lifter. I don't even use the electric lift any more. The foot lift is fast and easy and, frankly, BETTER than waiting on a stupid motor. It's just extra weight on my mower now.
    I noticed that BAD BOY agrees with me. The new ones just come with the foot lifter now.

    • @SkylarHillShop
      @SkylarHillShop  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do like having the foot pedal as a backup. I rarely change my deck height, but I wonder just how long the electric motor will last.

    • @ThePoppajim

      I had the same problem with my electric deck. It was a vendor problem, Badboy received some switches that year that were an inferior product. Mine is a 2018, they changed out the switch under warranty and it has been perfect ever since. New switch is year and a half old

      @@SkylarHillShop Car window motors have a long life span. I have a 1994 Chevy Silverado and the passenger side window motor is the original.

      @@ValkyrieRiderIPT Totally unrelated, but I thought you might find this funny. My mower seemed to pick up a vibration but after checking the blades, etc., I figured I was imagining it. But it didn't seem to have that "smooth" mower feel.
      Well, one day my deck got turned off and I thought the switch was bad or something. Nope. The wires had broken at the clutch from vibration.
      I did a lot of troubleshooting, but to make a long story short, the bolt holding the clutch onto the motor shaft had fallen out and the clutch had fallen as far as it could before the long, skinny side bolt stopped it. And yeah, it had chewed up about a third of the key slot in the shaft.
      I had to buy a new clutch and bolt. After much searching the interwebs, I discovered that I could use a different clutch (from 2016 and earlier) on my 2017 mower. Apparently they switched to a "cheaper" clutch, but charge a lot more for it. I say that because apparently their professional models still use the old clutch.
      Anyway, I did have to cut the connector off the old wire and extend it a bit because the wire connection needs a slightly longer run. But the solution is permanent. And I now check the bolt regularly.
      IMO, that was a clear manufacturing defect. It would be like a u-joint bolt on your car's driveshaft falling off. It simply should NEVER happen.I have no ill will. Nobody is perfect, and I love the mower other than that.
      Well, I did have to refab a new bottom wood piece to the seat since the old one rotted out after just over a year. But I'm assuming they've fixed that little design defect.
      😏

    The pedal on the deck is there so you push it then adjust the deck height.

    • @SkylarHillShop
      @SkylarHillShop  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The pedal was an add on that I bought separately. Both the electric deck lift or fully depressing the footpedal should be enough to adjust the deck. I could not do so until I adjusted the tension on the detent. It was just too firm.

    What did you break? They are tough mowers

    • @SkylarHillShop
      @SkylarHillShop  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I knocked one of the caster wheels off the bead, the same wheel also had a bad wheel bearing. I attribute that to dropping that wheel into a 6-8" deep rut at full speed. Also the tension on the deck height adjuster was way too tight. Other than that just annual maintenance. I bought one because every said they were tough, I definitely have not been easy on it and it keeps right on going.

      aXe my first BadBoy always had spinels bearing problems.. changed them almost every other month... mainly because I cut up bricks, logs stumps anything that got under the deck... the only problem with tires were roofers throwing their nails in the yards. The procedure to lower or raise the deck is to put ignition switch in middle position, or motor can be running. Push the Up/Down Deck button to up position until deck goes to highest position and you hear a rattling chain noise. At his point you can easily move the height nob to desired position and then lower the deck via switch until it stops. My ZT Elite 60 does not have a foot pedal to adjust or to take pressure off. Don't forget o put Ignition switch back to Stop position if performed with motor not running. It will kill your battery (been there, done that) if you adjust and don't use your mower for a week or so.

    • @SkylarHillShop
      @SkylarHillShop  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Now that I've adjusted the tension of the knob that procedure works. Previously even with the deck up all the way I couldn't hardly get it to turn.
