I’m newish to HF and I really appreciate the neatness of your work and the detail, comprehensiveness, and brevity of your videos. This one really demystified efhw’s for me. 73
I made the unun exactly like you, and i have the antenna with 110uH coil to get 80m on short garden. I have it 7-10m high and it works really good for the city enviroment. Good for local nets on 80m and 40m, and i hear entire europe. And it's also awesome portable antena, because it gives you all bands except 160m and 6m in the 40m long variant, and hear around the globe in a quiet forest environment.
Hello, in the notes above you wrote “19,129m long”. I am trying to get an idea in my mind as to how it is possible to get that much wire. That seems to convert to almost 12 miles when putting it in the online calculator. Is it really that long?-
Very nice. Why twist the primary and secondary instead of just fold back and tape them side by side closely spaced? Won’t that have less inter-winding capacitance at the higher frequencies?
I am interested in a multiband qrp EFHW like your's but want to use 450 Ohm (balanced) window line. Any ideas on how I might adapt your design to do that?
Did you consider to use a horizontal skyloop? Mine works on all bands between 6 - 80 meter and is extremely easy to build. It is used with a 1:4 1kw Balun. 73 de 4Z5UY Uvažovali ste o použití horizontálneho skyloopu? Baňa funguje na všetkých pásmach od 6 do 80 metrov a je mimoriadne jednoduchá na stavbu. Hi Paul! So funny to hear the QSO with EB3DIP - Xavi de Girona ... on the 10th it was 5/9+ at 7,114 in my QTH - Cascais Now you have the antenna tuned to the 40 mts ... excellent work and thank you so much for sharing 73 / CR7BDO
@@OM0ET ahh ok! Anything thing that worked well for me is a 40m delta. Using 2 spiderbeam 12m poles. 75ohm stub to 50ohm coax. A great performer on 40. 20 and 15 as well.
Since this video is a year old and I'm late to the party.. Just wanted to toss my 2 cents in. I built an identical 9:1. In the very same weatherproof box. Tested before deploying antenna and balun. SWR all over the place a week later. That weatherproof box was full of water and ruined a good piece of coax on me. Enclosures are important do your homework cheap Amazon knock offs don't cut the mustard.
Hello
the core you used looks like 240-43 so you probably wrote it wrong.
Ouh, thank you for correction! Yes you are right. It's FT240-43 toroid. I am going to write it to the video description. Thanks again ;)

You may also need a common mode choke after the 49:1 unun and another one in your shack at the end of your coax cable
Hi Elie! :) There is no any RF noise in my hamshack. Also toroid is grounded to the tower.
Excellent video, thank you!
RFG: really freaking good ... Good video. 👍
Vielen Dank für den guten Bericht
Sorry, I missed what was the initial length of the wire you used, 19 meter?. 73 de OA4CKN.
Great video. I would be interested to see a sweep on the analyser of the antenna without the UNUN to see what its impedance is without it.

Thank you! How long in an extra wire behind the coil?

Why an high voltage capacitor? The high holtage should be on the wireside, not the coax side. Or do i think wrong?
Great, Thanks I will try thin Multi Band Config as an Apartment Antenna, but is a sideways U config 73's
A great video and a Merry Christmas to you and your family. 73, Ace🎄☃
Thank you! 😉👍 Merry Christmas and HNY 23 to you too! 🙂
Hi, one question: What is the signal that scans across the band at 21:47? I have also see this signal on my RTL-SDR when listening??
Hi, it is the Ionosonde signal used for ionosophere research.

@@OM0ET Thank you for this info!
How about. diversity reception using both antennas. should be possible with that IC-7610 that I think you are using .
Great Job....what is that white stuff under the toriod? Is that silicone?

19m and 129cm is not that long 😃
@@OM0ET ok. That makes much more sense now. 19.129 is much shorter. The comma makes a big difference. I will keep that in mind for future reference.

I have one of these with a 110uH loading coil for 80m.
great and would need only 2.5 meters after the coil to get on 80 meters
I have to try it 😉👍 I need more details how to made it
@@OM0ET There's plenty of reference on the net. I bought a cheap L/C meter to tune the coil.
@@OM0ET You will need to switch to a FT240-31 toroid to get 80m decently.
Nice antenna setup
very nice!
Super, as always ! 😊
You do great work.
I want to make an antenna for SDR receiver. Can I use just a wire?
what is the name of the plastic box you are consstructing. please

Paul, does the white mastic not effect the toroids SWR? I once potted a perfectly good balun I made with resin and it totally ruined the performance.
No no this plastic doesn't contains carbon so it has no effect the the toroid.
Nice job om. I would suggest getting tower higher but that’s pretty bad wind gusts.
Thank you, I would like to but, you know, restrictions, neighbours atc...

Is the efhw noisier then a dipole or hex-beam?
Seems that no
I asked you if your 270 euro loop antenna include shipping to France? 😅
No my friend, shipping to France is 46€
Bravo Paul.
