    Thank you for uploading this video. Did you know this job can be done without removing the lower seat portion? All you have to do is lower the seats, take the pillars out, take out the four bolts on the deck on the upper seat backs, and pull the deck out. The tutorials on the G6 Forums all recommended the above steps over taking the whole thing out. Now on the coupe it is necessary to take the entire seat out.

      My '00 Malibu has removable grills and they just come right out, you can wire them while laying down in the trunk, super easy. My 2012 Aveo though was like the G6, you have to take the seat back out and remove the deck as it's all one unit.

    Thanks for the great video. Can you please share how you dealt with the old 4 wire system, and converting it to the two wire? In other words, if you cut the factory connectors, you're still stuck with 4 wires (two that had gone to each terminal in the factory speakers)

    • @LoFiMofo
      @LoFiMofo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the compliment. I cut the old connectors that went to the old speakers off. Then i stripped the wires and soldered them onto the new speaker terminals prior to installing the speakers. You can use crimp on connectors also but i prefer soldering so vibration is not an issue. Be sure to connect the positive to the positive and the negative to the negative or they won’t sound right. Good luck and thanks for watching.

    I'll be doing my girlfriends g6 tomorrow.... Thanx for Sharin' this info! But man, no wonder Pontiac went out of business. You should see what I had to go through to replace the radio! Smdh I'll post my progress as I go along

    • @emmy4691
      @emmy4691 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +adriannyasia Radio install is fun, especially if its aftermarket. To get to the stereo, you have to tear down the entire right end of the dash assembly. If you replace with another stock/factory unit, it can only reprogrammed at a dealership (or someone with a GM Tech II tool), if you want to put an aftermarket in, it gets more fun; you need a metra dash kit to handle the DIC functions with a single DIN or, for a dual DIN, you can splice the stereo cable and redirect the DIC to a functionally similar device that usually ends up getting put in the glovebox.

    • @emmy4691
      @emmy4691 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Zack Vahn Also note that Pontiac going out of business was in no way Pontiac's own fault; the company has a confusing history. Some fun facts:
      John DeLorean worked for Pontiac back in the day; he designed a number of cars, including a prototype known as the Banshee. At the time, it could have outperformed the Corvette. Because of this fact, along with its amazing styling, GM forced Pontiac to shelve the car.
      Pontiac hadn't designed its own cars for quite a while at the time of their demise; most of their line was simply rebadged cars from other GM holdings; for example, the G6 is a rebadged and slightly reshaped Chevrolet Malibu. The G8 was a Holden Commodore. The G5/Pursuit is the most obvious of the bunch; a rebadged Chevrolet Cobalt.
      Pontiac's sales were actually recovering when the decision to terminate them was made; the government demanded that two brands were to be shut down and reconsolidated if GM wanted to get its bailout; they chose Pontiac and Hummer.
      Its the opinion of many Pontiac fans that the brand could have been saved by having GM focus on Pontiac's original claim to fame; sporty performance vehicles like the GTO, Trans Am and Gran Prix, as well as notable mid-rangers like the Grand Am and Gran Prix.

      If you watch my video and pause it at about the 1:08 mark you can see that possibly you could take a screwdriver from behind the seat and inside the trunk and manually open the latch. I'm really not sure, haven't had to deal with that before. Sorry that happened.
