I watched your robe curls video and I have a tip!! Watch the Shonagh Scott heatless curl tutorial. She almost braids her hair around the robe and it turns out 10000000% times better than the way you demonstrated! That's the way I've been doing it ever since I watched her video and my curls turn out so much better.

Thank you for ordering! One method you can try is this: 1) Section off the crown and clip in place. 2) Place the Octocurl as high up as possible. 3) Release the crown and wrap as usual. This method allows the curls to start higher up and creates a little volume in the crown since the headband is tucked underneath. Hope that makes sense?! 💗
I just purchased the jade satin octocurl. I haven’t received it yet but since I always had success with robe curls I am expecting good things from this product. I’m hoping the satin octocurl will be easier to sleep in than the robe is for me. I will check back in and let you know how I make out. Thanks for making such a thorough video. Thank you! Depending on how well your hair holds a curl, sometimes it's best to finger comb gently so you don't lose definition or create flyaways/frizz. Let us know how it goes if you try it! 💕
@@brookeb2032 Leave-in conditioner can make a big difference! Also, try wrapping on day 2 or 3 hair. You will probably notice that your hair is most frizzy the day it is washed. Hope that helps! 💕

I bought the travel to try but could/will buy a gallon. I have fine, medium thickness, lazy wavy hair that wants to fall flat. This stuff is sorcery! My hair even holds style with this.
When you wrapped your hair around two ties and at the very end went in between the two to wrap around only one tie then used the elastic from the other tie to secure the end of your hair around the wrapped tie. How do you secure it if you’re wrapping your hair around only one tie once you get to the end?
You can just use the elastic to secure the ends. Her method works well because she's protecting her ends from crimping by keeping them protected by 2 layers of fabric. If only using one strip, you can do something similar by folding up the end of the strip and then securing with the elastic. There are some videos on our Instagram page showing this method. 💗
I have mid waist length hair and idk if you know this Abbey buuut I have an octocurl (the long one) but have you tried unclipping the elastic that connects to together in the front once its in your hair?? I do this as i dont sleep with mine in, and getting rid of the elastic on the front part gets rid of any hair kinks and also is way more comfortable!! Definitely recommend it sense it doesn't loosen at all once the octo curl is completely in and secure on the ends 😁
I just have to add this because I think all you younger girls will think it is funny. When I was in high school, we had no blow dryers or electric curlers so I used to sleep on those curlers that are wire and have the stiff bristles in them. Every. Night. I had to arrange then just right so that when I laid my head on the pillow that they were completely even-so that all the bristles were poking evenly! LOL The stories I could tell about hair! I even bleached my hair by putting lemon juice on it and laying in the sun!
You can certainly use all 16 single strips rather than 8 double and it sounds like that would be a good method for you. For loose curls, just keep your wraps on a diagonal. Hope that helps! 💗
Hey Abbey 😊 If you need to re-curl with the Octo Curl before hair wash day, do you spray your hair again with the detangler before doing so? I’m worried too much could make my hair greasy.

My hair length is about 2 inches above sternum, however, I have layers which are shorter. In your opinion, would this also work on layered hair styles? I would think it would be difficult with some pieces hanging out 🤔
I'd imagine if you have layers there will be ends of hair that hang out or sections that fall out during the night. You could give it a shot, but layers make everything tricky. 😬

Love the review! When sleeping, do you fan out your hair so you're not sleeping directly on it? If so, does it leave a weird crease around the crown? And if not, how do the strips rubbing between your head and the pillow not cause the hair to come loose or get frizzy? With robe curls, I had to pull each side through the leg of a pair of nylons to keep the hair from shifting around. I kinda wish each strip of the Octocurl had a long skinny tube of pantyhose material at the end for this purpose. 😄

Didn’t hear how comfortable it was to sleep in though. I bought one years ago and returned it. I’m now thinking of the sway curlers (same as the robe curls) since I’ve heard from other You Tubers it’s comfortable to sleep in. Might buy the octocurl again.

I heat styled my hair every day for YEARS! Then started using octocurl about 6 months ago religiously. Now I have barely any breakage and my hair is so long, healthy and shiny! I’ve only used the terri cloth version, but would like to try the satin version. I agree… best results have been achieved with dry to damp hair. I spray leave in conditioner while my hair is wet and let it air dry. Then when it’s damp I wrap my hair and sleep on it. I’ve also misted dry hair with water and then wrapped. Hair cannot be sopping wet. I’ve had some amazing results and seriously… my curls have lasted for 3-4 days!!! I use dry shampoo by day 2 and my hair looks soooo good!
Thanks for the video and clear explanation as well. ❤️ However, I am convinced that the "bathrobe belt" curls method works better and much faster than octocurl one. Moreover, it not only looks better but also makes your hair curled and voluminous almost from the roots. Maybe, it is just for me though🤔

I found the octocurl to be absolutely terrible. Who has enough hair for 16 of these straps. I ended up using 10 Even that was too many. The bulk around my head was crazy. Not comfortable to sleep on. Curls turned out very bad. I'm returning mine.
She spent a good 3 minutes explaining which hand holds the hair and strip and where to put it. In other words twisting it. The way she kept talking made me think it was some crazy braid. If was literally just switching the hair like why not just say that lol

I have been influenced.... I NEED this! My only concern is that I have A LOT of hair, so splitting it into only 8 sections will probably be too much hair in each section. If I wrap hair around only one strip at a time, rather than the pairs like this, then I will have to just use separate elastics every time
This wouldn't work if you need volume at your roots, right? I have curly hair but would like to use these to remove frizz but I need volume at my roots. My hair would look silly if I had straight roots
ok but what about the back of the head? because whenever i've attempted heatless curls i get really pretty curls/waves on the side of my head but the back looks completely weird and funky 🤣

I may have missed this but why don’t you wrap each strip individually? I have loads of hair and think I would use the all.

It is more challenging, but you can twist your section of hair first to contain the layers and then wrap it around the strip. Hope that helps! 💛

She spent a good 3 minutes explaining which hand holds the hair and strip and where to put it. In other words twisting it. The way she kept talking made me think it was some crazy braid. If was literally just switching the hair like why not just say that lol

I have been influenced.... I NEED this! My only concern is that I have A LOT of hair, so splitting it into only 8 sections will probably be too much hair in each section. If I wrap hair around only one strip at a time, rather than the pairs like this, then I will have to just use separate elastics every time

This wouldn't work if you need volume at your roots, right? I have curly hair but would like to use these to remove frizz but I need volume at my roots. My hair would look silly if I had straight roots

ok but what about the back of the head? because whenever i've attempted heatless curls i get really pretty curls/waves on the side of my head but the back looks completely weird and funky 🤣
