Why has this video not got half a million hits? I have to watch it at least twice a day !!! Lovely girls in gorgeous costumes and brilliant uniforms,fabulous flag work and baton twirling and above all a big band sound to die for !! The high point for me is at 8:22 when they morph into the Tito Puente Orchestra ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS !! Fukuoka must be so proud of these girls. S-E-I-K-A SEIKA!!!

Definitely one of my favourite HS bands whether marching or in concert. So strong in their musicianship and visual presentation with a repertoire that shows their individuality.I've never heard a HS band play Mike Nesmith's "Rio" (one of my favourite songs) before and the girls NAILED IT !!!-GO SEIKA - YOU ROCK !!!
I have to correct myself,it was the Peter Allen/Adrienne Anderson composition "I Go to Rio" (Best version by Pablo Cruise on A&M LP "Worlds Away"-check it out on TH-cam) that the Girls were NAILING.Great video -well done Tsubame Planning !
Piece written for the movie of the same name in 1962 by Alfred Newman.
Always one of my favorites. Usually just see this band in very small numbers performing in malls, roped off outside areas etc. Nice to see the whole group for a change

Probably one of the better dressed supporting members (color guard, majorettes, etc.) I've seen. Band sounds great (a Sousa style marching band). Would like to have seen more of the leading marchers. Is there any significance to the long gowns worn? (style, colors, etc.)

How the West was won written for the movie of the same name (1962) written by Alfred Neweman.
Mystery solved! Seika's opening song for parades is...."How The West Was Won"-not sure wwho wrote it but I heard played by the legendary drum corps - The Casper Troopers-at the DCI finals in 1970 !!!
This music comes from the 1962 movie of the same title. Original music written for the movie by Alfred Newman. It's not the main theme but one suggested by scene music. Originally it was sung. This arrangement by Seika is almost verbatim from the Troopers 1970 version.

Hey Tony, a rather belated reply but the song in question is called "I Go To Rio" written and recorded by Peter Alexander (there's a nice video of him performing it live here on TH-cam) but for me the quintessential version of it is by Pablo Cruise from their 1978 album "Worlds Away" on A&M Records and, like the original there is a Great live version here on TH-cam - you must check it out! I get such a kick out of the Wonderful Seika Girls doing this number and if you do too, do a search on; 2020.11.01 Seika Girls. They run through the sequence 3 times with some great band shots! - Best Wishes Jay.
