Holy shit I just realized something when Frieren is parting away with someone that she believes she will meet again she always says “see you later” when she was about to part away with voll she said “goodbye” which means she think this will be the last time she saw him but after the conversation she correct herself “see you later” which means she think she’ll meet him again in the future! @@Blastic00 Yes he is. He is far older than Frieren and he was considered a hero and was forgotten by everyone since it has been so long. He was ancient when Frieren was still a child. Most people missed it, but when he said that Frieren was young he meant it literary, it was not a figure of speech. To him, Frieren is a young teenager or a young adult at most.

Frieren Himmel and the party probably lied to public that they defeated it.
And only that old man voli knew that the demon king is still alive.
that's not how you make a theory. demon king is defeated, we don't if it was killed or not but the demon king is really defated. there are many reasons :
1, If Frieren doesn't hide the truth about himmel pulling up the sword then why would she lie that himmel defeated demon king, also heiter and eisen never said that himmel pulled up the sword because even fern doesn't know anything about it, it means they don't lie.
2. Aura started resurfacing after the death of himmel, even during the fight with Frieren she mentions that himmel is gone now and she never says anything about himmel not defeating demon king.
3. The old man not remembering about himmel defeating demon king bcoz he was never told, we can see villagers sating thar old man never has conversation with anyone or he is forgetting things, even he doesn't remember his wife.
4. last but most important, himmel gifts frieren a ring bcoz they defeat demon king.
