I haven’t saw a model like that in a while , I used to have the 910 model a few years back and it was despite a value series handgun really good and built like a tank
I picked up one summer of 2024 in New in box condition. Came with 2 mags and I found 2 more in town for 20 each. I am only missing the 910S from the value series type 3rd Gen Smiths. Thanks for your video.
You mentioned bringing back some of these models, and S&W has released an all metal M&P. I jumped over to the S&W webpage, and the magazine on the new pistol has the same magazine gap as your 909. They’re also priced at $900. 😳
Another great video by you! I shot and loved my Beretta 92FS and Sig P226 for many years, so I am well versed in DA/SA triggers. The 3rd gen S&W autos always had the shortest trigger reset of the DA/SA type pistols. Just outstanding pistols, and certainly IMO, superior to the plastic striker pistols.
You're not wrong. Lots of people miss these guns-- Just posted on a Smith video earlier asking them to re-issue the 3913. I'd buy a 909, too. Subbed yesterday, btw
People seem to agree that many of the value series guns seem more accurate than the full feature models. Smiths marketing claimed they were as good as the full feature models in all the critical aspects.
Nice video! I too was looking for a 3904 but came across a 909 in really great condition maybe 8-9 years ago. Still one of my favorites despite being a "value series" gun.
Thanks for the comment, I came across a 5904 that looked a little tired but I was amazed at how well the burchwood black aluminum touch up worked on the gun. I need to do a video on that I think.
Haven't seen the 909 before, have seen the 910 and 915 . I've seen a couple of 910/915 that the finish is really worn. The semi automatic smiths a some nice guns . Good history and information , thanks for showing
Yep, and I did realize I forgot to mention the plastic guide rod as well, although that can be swap for the metal one from the std 3rd Gen guns. Overall I think their design was sound, but certainly corners cut on certain parts to reach a price point, unfortunately that was the predicament they were in.
Cool. I have its little brother the 908. Single stack with bobbed hammer.

Thanks, very cool you found a NIB , that’s always a treat.

Thanks for the comment. Agree and smith never seems to get the credit it deserves on the reset.

915 owner here. A wonderful firearm. Thanks for the information. These were my favorite pistols to grow up drooling over.
Yep mine too.
It's more solid then the more expensive models

I have a 3906 which is all stainless steel and a bit heavier. I would love either a 3904 or a 909 as an everyday carry gun.
nice gun

I own the double stack 915. I love it and can still be found for a good price.

I started my LEO stint with a 3904. I'd love to find a nice 3904 or 909.
Thanks for the comment and good to hear of another past LEO that was issued one of the 3rd smiths. Not easy to find these days.
It wasn't 'issued'. We had to provide our own duty weapons.
@@jimhovater8755 got ya.
I'd like it better without the plastic. That's just a little too "value."
