the Battenkill? that's my neck of the woods! my husband built our log cabin 32 yrs ago on the land he purchased from working 2 low pay jobs, pretty much like everyone else up here. Life is good, maybe not for the weak, but good none the less.

build a covered fire wood hut, that helps with the drying of the wood or kindling and its easier to burn if you are going to make a fire.

It's beautiful. If I had a cabin like that I would build a covered porch across the entire front and enclose it. Would be so nice to sit out there at times with a heater and watch the snow fall and be warm. And not track as much into the house.
