Truly one of the most horrific Biblical stories but quite important to discuss. We must remember that during this time period, Israel was without a proper leader to govern them and everyone did as they saw fit. God gives everyone free will and when he is rejected and everyman in his own terms turmoil explodes. This is a pure example of the evil in humanity, which we can all agree based on history alone. There are simply no words to describe the torture that poor woman endured. During those times it was considered, customary to offer accommodation to guests. When the Benjamites demanded to "know" the man, not only did his guest offered his own daughter like Lot did in Sodom in Gomorrah but the Levite threw his concubine out the door... It was considered a much higher offense back in those days for a man to be raped than a woman. The Levite was wrong to throw her out the door in the midst of such a vile crowd but unfortunately given the time period, he did not weigh the consequences of his actions. After the horrific act of brutality against this poor woman the Levite then decided to cut her into 12 pieces to send it to each tribe in Israel seeking vengeance and justice was served. After the several wars justice was served. This horrible atrocity served to bring justice to the men's evil deeds and judgement was executed, the city was consumed due to such atrocities. Truly, God gave to everyone their just punishment/justice according to their deeds and brought course correction.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! You’ve highlighted some very important themes in this story, including the consequences of free will and the moral decay that can occur in the absence of righteous leadership. It’s indeed a tragic account that reflects the darker aspects of human nature. The actions of the Levite and the response of the tribes serve as a powerful reminder of the need for justice and accountability. It’s crucial for us to learn from these stories and apply their lessons to our lives today. Your insights are greatly appreciated!

I think by this man sending the 12 parts of this woman, he was saying this is how dishonorable men have become and debased and that something must be done about it. The sad thing is he did not take responsibility for his putting her out the door so that got raped by all these vile men. He in fact started a war that was already in his heart in which he had no regard for this woman he was to protect at all cost. He indeed valued his own life above hers. It showed he did not have much value for women in general or real love

Where was God? God doesn’t care what happens to ur flesh it’s sinful and corrupted and u can’t take it with u as God is HOLY & Heaven only takes what’s HOLY & that’s who we are inside. Are ur great great grandparents still alive? Did they take their bodies or were they buried? Stop focusing on the flesh it homes u temporarily. The body can live 1 breath or years of breaths only God knows ur expiration date in flesh. But, ur SPIRIT LIVES FOR ETERNITY so focus on that! Bad things happen but, God doesn’t do them. He gives free will to all & whosoever breaks HIS COMMANDMENTS? Pays with their soul, GOD HIMSELF SEEKS REVENGE ON THEM & places them in a fiery pit with the god they chose to behave like, they spend FOREVER IN THE HELL HE CREATED FOR SATAN AND HIS DEMONS! Man, chooses hell as they follow satan.

We are wicked at heart. He made a being before us we call them angels. There are different types and different jobs that are glorious. The angels fell and they won’t be destroyed until his second creation, humans, a being 200 legends of angels were jealous of so they fell from heaven and grew such hatred that we renamed them fallen angels and demons that spiritually torment us with riches fame and fortune. We have free will and get to live in God image. If you think this life is cool wait till you see heaven in your new body and name. He knew this would happen so he made a way for us to be saved. He came down in human form as a man named Yeshua Hebrew meaning for salvation. We trust in him and His judgement, the living word of the Bible. Life is very deep and this is very simple. Don’t hold or question God. He is so perfect. I hope this helps. Love you

Each time I hear this story I become angry, outraged and begin to pray for that woman to recieve God's Holy Justice. Tho we are not supposed to judge we are called to know right from wrong. To throw a woman out there to be brutally raped all night long in my opinion is a contemptuous act. She was a human shield for him. It doesn't say what happened to the Daughter of the host. When I ask for God's Justice, I am also asking for this against the man who willingly handed her over. Women mean nothing back in those days, the sheep have more value.

Hello tammi, you're applying some of today's morals and ethics on a totally different time. If you remember it was a woman that caused the downfall of human kind and expulsion from Eden... "Judge ye not lest ye be judged" I believe was the saying given by Jesus... Remember that happened in the O.T. where they were to live by "The Law" which was proven to be impossible and the reason for Christ to bear the sins of the world!!! Two different times, two seperate eras (IMHO). Just say'n. Perhaps deeper research into the history of the 12 Tribes before the "Judges" would shed some insight. If you missed it, a similar occurrence happened in Sodom and Gormorah(sp?)! Be safe and take care, "God Bless", sincerely, Randy. 😇🙏👊

And as the husband of the concubine forget feeling sorry...If you're too scared to go out there....Why send her.....She's even more scared...You can atleast fight......either way He would've had a story to be heard....Choices even then mattered gravely.
From Rebekah hearing of Jacob's greatness and Deciding to steal her other sons birthright sowing discord between them to Saul deciding to do the humane thing of keeping two playing sheep alive and the king versus doing what the lord says...it's always something deeper to understand.

God came for the Jews. All through the Bible God is providing a way for the Israelites. God is always leading them to him. In the beginning he gave man free will. Because of this man has a choice between right and wrong. If you ask Jesus to forgive you your sins and come live in your heart you have been saved. At that moment God send the Holy Spirit into your heart. Then…Seek God in all things…if you don’t know his will stop. Pray, honor and praise his holy name, Ask Gods forgiveness for your sins that of commission and omission. Thank him for the blessings he has bestowed on you! Ask him to move the Holy Spirit in you. Now you are ready to seek his guidance…ask and be still and listen, the answer can come in many ways, pray for discernment. Be aware the devil is always looming. When you realize your free will, you know which way you should go. I find reading my Bible is a good way to find his answers to my questions. Another way is to go to a Bible believing church. Get involved and learn all you can about God Almighty!
